It felt like it had been eons since they had done this.
With a growing daughter and a busy school life, it was hard to make time for anything much anymore. While Loralei had gotten used to the lifestyle of motherhood, she couldn’t help but to miss her older days at some points. She missed not having to give a shit about the world around her, but now for the sake Aubrey she had to be a bit more careful with her actions. For her daughter’s safety, and the world around her.
Right in this moment, she felt as if herself and her husband deserved this break. If not with a little bit of a challenge.
Agreeing to settle the night with a babysitter was the first task. The second was to allow this datenight to not just be spent in the company of each other, but another pair that she had come in contact with after doing some digging. While she presented it to Carl as a way to have a bit of fun in mischief, she really figured they could have a broader social circle.
The latter would most likely come out of dumb luck, though.
So as they approached the highly-rated restaurant, Loralei, dressed rather upscale for the occasion, briefed her husband on a few things. "I’m surprised I convinced you to get a babysitter. I know you’re not too keen on the idea of handing over Aubrey to the mercy of another person." She spoke up at him, a tight grin pulled over burgundy lipstick. "I wouldn’t worry though. I mean, the worst that could happen is she’d do is turn ‘em into a rabbit or something. I hope." There already had been enough letters of complaint from surrounding neighbors in regards to the family. Last thing they needed was a law suit.
When they approached the front podium to be let in, she held onto his arm as the host took them to their empty seats. The other couple was bound to arrive soon, as indicated by the time on her phone. "This throws me back to our honeymoon. Didn’t take long for us to get booted out then. That was hilarious." She chuckled at the fond memory, though in reflection, going that route wouldn’t be the best idea tonight. "Try not to disintegrate anyone tonight, though, okay?"
