It felt like it had been eons since they had done this.
With a growing daughter and a busy school life, it was hard to make time for anything much anymore. While Loralei had gotten used to the lifestyle of motherhood, she couldn’t help but to miss her older days at some points. She missed not having to give a shit about the world around her, but now for the sake Aubrey she had to be a bit more careful with her actions. For her daughter’s safety, and the world around her.

Right in this moment, she felt as if herself and her husband deserved this break. If not with a little bit of a challenge.
Agreeing to settle the night with a babysitter was the first task. The second was to allow this datenight to not just be spent in the company of each other, but another pair that she had come in contact with after doing some digging. While she presented it to Carl as a way to have a bit of fun in mischief, she really figured they could have a broader social circle.

The latter would most likely come out of dumb luck, though.

So as they approached the highly-rated restaurant, Loralei, dressed rather upscale for the occasion, briefed her husband on a few things. "I’m surprised I convinced you to get a babysitter. I know you’re not too keen on the idea of handing over Aubrey to the mercy of another person." She spoke up at him, a tight grin pulled over burgundy lipstick. "I wouldn’t worry though. I mean, the worst that could happen is she’d do is turn ‘em into a rabbit or something. I hope." There already had been enough letters of complaint from surrounding neighbors in regards to the family. Last thing they needed was a law suit.

When they approached the front podium to be let in, she held onto his arm as the host took them to their empty seats. The other couple was bound to arrive soon, as indicated by the time on her phone. "This throws me back to our honeymoon. Didn’t take long for us to get booted out then. That was hilarious." She chuckled at the fond memory, though in reflection, going that route wouldn’t be the best idea tonight. "Try not to disintegrate anyone tonight, though, okay?"

She, Her, Hers
Axel looked like a model. She was wearing a rather vintage looking dress, that seemed to compliment her already ashy burgundy coloured hair. Her hair was pulled back into a braided bun, as she wanted to make sure that she looked her best. Of course, there was no reason for this, other than that her and Ishikawa were going out to eat with another couple. Though, the thought of saying couple out loud about her and her... Well whatever he was to her. They were holding hands as they went into the restaurant, scoping out to see if she could see the other two. Without any luck, she pulled her date over to where the waiter said that their guests were waiting. "Hey- sorry we are late."

Ishikawa Yuuto

If anybody had bothered to press the subject at all, Ishikawa might have claimed to have shown up only under duress. The realm of social pursuits was something he had never been well acquainted with, and happily so. He was bad with people, to put it mildly, and he was used to everybody knowing and avoiding him because of it. This sort of activity was more in line with his sister's daily life, maybe even his brother's as well. He could never understand why people enjoyed doing things like this but he suspected that it was probably the same reason why some people got their thrills from jumping out of airplanes. It must have been that sudden feeling of realizing that there was nowhere to go except down, and quickly.

But for some reason, Ishikawa still let Axel talk himself into showing up anyways, for whatever embarrassing circus was in store for them. He had, at some point, reminded her of the fact that he was unable to eat and therefore would more or less serve as scowling decoration the entire time. Insanely, Axel seemed to be perfectly fine with this. "At least you're pretty", the retort had been. It was not worth his time arguing. He guessed that she either really wanted this... date... or simply felt bored to tears and wished to torture him somehow. Both options were equally bad.

(Alternatively, he was making nervous excuses for himself and minded much less than he liked to think he did. But of course not. Ishikawa Yuuto did not do things like that. No.)

His latest problem of the day, though, was Axel herself. Being surprisingly but significantly dead, Ishikawa looked exactly the same as he normally did, stuck in priestly robes for possibly eternity. Axel, on the other hand... Was not unattractive. He stared blankly at her a few times when he thought she was not watching and when that was done, he stared down at their joint hands. How did this happen. Why. It was not unpleasant. But still, why.

Because it was Axel, probably. The next time they had a moment to themselves, he would tell her to stop trying to destroy the nice world that he lived in and she would laugh and mock his height and somehow, they'd both end up in the Academy's fountain again.

Ah Carl, always the grumpy one. While she knew that this certainly wasn’t his idea, she was just content that he eventually agreed to go along with it. She wanted to say that he may be overreacting at the outcome, but anything could honestly happen with their Aubrey. Luckily she was a decent kid at this point and knew not to use her powers for trouble.

Her parents, on the other hand…

But she’d play it cool. For now. She smiled back at him and gently held her hand over his. While trouble was tempting, relaxation was too. "I dunno. I guess we’ll have to see how the cards unfold." She bit her lip a bit to prevent herself from chuckling. "Of course, I’ve gotta keep things interesting for my own husband, right?"

Before the window of opportunity for him to reply, Loralei noticed that the invited couple was making their approach. She smiled pleasantly, in efforts to make good first impressions. They were fashionably late, but so was she usually. A young copper haired woman with her blue haired partner. One seemed a little more outgoing to socialization than the other.

Looks like they already had something in common.

"Ah, no worries. Glad you could make it." She stood for a moment to extend her hand to the woman, as the other seemed a bit more distant. "I’m Loralei. You can call me Lori, though. And this is my husband, Carl. But you probably knew that already." She gestured over to him. "Oh and, please sit. The waiter hasn’t come by yet, so you guys came at the right time."
