When Ithai asked Zora the cookbook question, her mind automatically flew to her aunt, Celeste. "You know what? Yes, I would be interested, very interested actually," Zora admitted thinking that it would be a nice way to repay her aunt for her kindness lately.

He laughed with delight, honestly not having expected that answer. "All right, all right. If you'll just follow me, I'll go find that for you. Just be warned -a lot of it is in Italian. And there is a lot of pasta in involved, so I am told." Ithai paused for a moment. "Think of the most pasta recipes you can right now. I want you to know, it's still not enough." Paschalis had been very adamant on this point.

"The more recipes, the better... it's for my aunt, she loves to cook, teaches Home Ec at the Academy, and she has the ability to speak almost any language on Earth. That cookbook is probably the perfect gift for her if I'm honest," Zora explained as she followed Ithai through the bookshop.

He laughed again before he could help himself. "Sorry, sorry. Does your aunt happen to either be a ridiculously young looking woman of high fashion, or a grumpy old woman with absolutely no sense of taste? Because if it's the former, then she's the exact opposite of one of my aunts who also works at the Academy. If it's the latter, then I should introduce them instead."

"Celeste, Miss Forestier, as her students call her, is also in the competition, and she's the ridiculously young looking woman of high fashion who likes homely pursuits." Zora grinned, "She is probably the most domesticated French woman you'll ever meet," she joked.

"Your aunt also works at the school? Small world indeed," Zora said, "What does she teach? Maybe Celeste already knows her," she said thinking that it was entirely possible since her aunt loved to talk to people and was very personable.

"She's one of the magic teachers," Ithai said thoughtfully. "Vanora Lawful. She's one of the sorts who both are and look elderly. Her personality is a bit brisk at times but she means well. I think, if anything, the thing that she's most famous for is her total inability to cook. Sometimes magic comes as equivalent exchange and it just so happens she gave up that ability completely for fire manipulation. Literally."

"That name doesn't really ring a bell, but Celeste has so many co-workers, friends, I wouldn't be surprised if they knew each other," Zora said easily as she followed Ithai to the back part of the book shop, very curious about the old cook book he was going to show her.

He hummed in answer, scouring the dusty shelves for the book he was looking for. It was, as he remembered, a rather thick volume that had taken some time to repair between the mysterious stains and wear from overuse.

"Ah, here it is!" He found it after a few moments of fingering spines, having recognized it from the lumps in the material. Showing it to Zora, he said, "It took quite a while to fix up like this but it's in much better shape than it had been when I received it."

As Zora was about to take the book from Ithai, she received a series of messages on her cell phone. Not that that was weird, but she had left her business phone at home and only taken her private number, a number which few people had - only her aunt, grandfather, son, her boyfriend and one or two close friends.

"One moment please, I -..." she said, voice trailing as she pulled out few phone and read the messages. They were from Broen. Reading them, Zora frowned, scrolling back to the first and back down rereading them. The messages were worrisome at best, the competition was not what it appeared to be.

"Sorry, my boyfriend just texted me...something important has happened," she admitted as she looked at Ithai, wondering just how much the man in front of her knew, and how much he had intentionally been keeping from people. The thought now made her wary.

He waited patiently but Ithai could feel a twist of desires stemming off of Zora. They were a messy lump of questions still not sure of themselves. But he could feel her want for more information and, if he concentrated hard enough, found that it was about the tournament going on.

"Sorry, did you say something?" He only just realized he had been staring intently several long moments after he had started. "I just felt. You needed to ask me something."
