@"Juraquille" sorry i only got around to putting this up now

This was a day long overdue, thought Karl Robert Harrison Wells, or Mr. Wells as a few of the people around recognize him. On he way to he park, he kept on having to stop every now and then to chat for a while to those that would say hi, each time being more exasperated. This was a precious and rare day off - the restaurant was closed for the day for monthly maintenance, and the other employees conspired to give him a break, which was a very nice gesture.

Visibly tired, and yet happy, Karl broke away from his thoughts to look around the park. Weather was great, with a pleasant morning sun and a gentle breeze flowing in. Everything, from the wind, to the slow, listless chirping of bird and insect alike spelled out lazy.

After ruffling and loosening up his signature black dress shirt, Karl laid himself down on the grass and let out a long breath, eyes closed and mouth curled into a smile. He faced his companion, who he had to apologize profusely to several times, though it probably wasn' necessary.

"Hey Terry... daddy's just going to take... a bit of a break, okay?"

@"Der Lampman" I'm also so sorry this is so so late ;;; I'm willing to change things around in my post too if you'd like ;; Plus I have to check in with parents and Emme ;;;; gdi me

Terry had woken up that day knowing it was one of his beloved dad's rare days off. He had been so excited, eagerly bouncing around the man like a small bunny. He normally kept such energy toned down, knowing his father was a busy and oftentimes tired man, but he couldn't help it. It wasn't that he didn't like playing about in the restaurant-- that place was like a second home to him-- but his father was always so preoccupied. He never complained about it though, and it wasn't like he was being neglected but...

Not bothering to continue that line of thought, Terry gave a soft huff before continuing to quietly trot after his dad. They were on their way to the park, and while he was a bit put out they wouldn't be going anywhere exciting-- like the island's amusement park--, he wouldn't whine and spoil the tranquil, almost lazy mood of the day. Karl seemed to be enjoying it enough, after all.

Once his father decided on a spot and settled down into the grass, he too sat down, crossing his legs like a pretzel and quietly peering over at the man. He absently started rocking from side to side, humming softly. "S'okay daddy, but you're not 'llowed to sleep all day. You promised you'd take me to the pier, r'member?" He said firmly, his childish voice losing the shy inflections normally heard when he spoke to someone he didn't know well. It was still softer, gentler than any other child his age, who'd be demanding to get their way, but just as filled with longing.

"Did I..." Wells muttered. Recently, his thoughts were so distracted by the day-to-day management of his restaurant that he couldn't really be too sure. Still, it wasn't an outrageous promise, nor was Terry the child who would lie.

He hoped, at least.

Wells couldn't quite recall the exact moment that he made such a promise. It made sense - he probably made it on the spur of the moment, perhaps when busy running the numbers and micromanaging the logistics of the business. If that was the case, then he probably really needed this break anyway.

The grass felt cool on his back, even through his clothing. At this rate he would fall asleep promptly, though he refused to. This was rare time with Terry after all. Carefully, he pushed himself closer to his son and reached out, as if attempting to pat his head. "How about we sit down here first and take a break, and then daddy's going to take you to the pier?"
