APPEARANCE
Aria has deep-set chocolate brown eyes and long lashes. Tints of lime green might appear just at the outer tips and above her cheeks when she is in siren form. She also has long, wavy strawberry blonde hair she likes to keep in a high ponytail. Her actual hair color is black. She just prefers strawberry blond so she dyes it. Her scrunchies may differ every time you see her since she keeps a collection of them--from scrunchies with ribbons on them to fluffy little things on them to scrunchies with little yarn pieces hanging and braided along her ponytail.
Aria stands at 5'11" and has a full build. One could say she looks like she lifts weights if they saw her shoulders and arms. She is well-endowed, one thing she likes about her body. However what she doesn't like is that she doesn't have the thin waist line that a siren usually sports. Instead, it would seem that her waist like that of a man's and that sometimes is enough to make her look fat (or so she thinks).
Skater skirts, shorts and plain tees are Aria's usual choice of clothing. On beautiful, windy days, Aria would wear dresses. She doesn't like heels or any closed footwear so she mostly owns sandals, flipflops or open-toed ballerina flats.
In her siren form, Aria's legs join to form a tail the rich color of emerald. Sometimes, when the lighting is right, her scales may seem to be a blue hue. Her tail will best resemble that of a lyretail anthias. Scales and gills of a paler green will also appear around her neck and shoulders. And it won't be always seen as she wears more conservative clothes even when in siren form, but the sides of her body gains the same scales that gives the illusion of blue hues on her tail when hit by light. Around her hips, and down her back where her spine is, some sort of thin, translucent fin will also appear. Webbing will connect her fingers. In the dark, her eyes glow very dimly, just enough to make them seem orange instead of brown. Also, as with most fish, the lens in her eyes will become denser and more spherical to accommodate the lesser light that is usually refracted already before it enters the water.
PERSONALITY
One could say Aria is a tough cookie. Growing up with eleven other siblings, Aria has always prided herself to be their 'protector'. Whenever fights emerged between them, however small, she likes to be able to disperse them right away. However that side of her only shows when it is her siblings who are in dispute. Anybody else is ignored, unless they too are picking fights with her siblings.
She isn't shy but she isn't too outgoing either. She's friendly enough after one gets to meet her, most especially after one has gotten close enough to her. She's often quiet, especially when she's alone but she won't be too shy to strike up a conversation when spoken to.
As a daughter of the sea, she is highly sensitive about the things she uses. As much as possible, she would reuse or recycle old things. It is one of the reasons why her apartment is full of old bottles-turned-pots or canisters assembled to make stools, basically anything she could utilize old bottles, containers and jars to be. She's also got jars full of knickknacks on shelf where she's collected buttons, old coins, bottle caps, et cetera she knows she might use in the future for other projects.
Aria is also quite generous. Often times she would bring around packets of biscuits or cookies to give to whomever she might meet. As she has a lot of free time, she makes and packs them herself. One might say that she's too generous at times, especially after they see the row of pots she keeps by her windowsills. She might often put too much water or fertilizer in them that even the weeds have grown healthily.
One could say that Aria's bad side is when she takes sides. Not in the sense that she will side between two debaters. Rather, she would often go to people whom she knows would win in a situation or would have that potential in the future. She uses her connections with them to her own gain, though not explicitly. She is ignorant to that side of her and thus could become quite the hypocrite when she judges other people for being double-crossers.
POWERS
Sound Magic
Just as her siblings, Aria has the ability to use her voice to induce calming effects or hypnotism to whomever is within earshot. She could captivate as many people as there could be in an auditorium (with the help of a microphone of course), the important thing is they hear her. Her songs are only used for however suggestion and not for total control. Any person with good self-control and self-awareness can easily ignore her vocal charm. Her voice can reach exceptional vocal ranges though she is used to singing in the lower tones; she prefers singing as a mezzo-soprano.
Siren Form
In which Aria's feet become a tail, her neck will open with gills and scales appear scattered around her body. She is able 'breathe' underwater as she will be able to do other things that can normally be done by humans on land. She is still able to use her voice and sound magic underwater. If anything, the said medium is much preferred as it more properly enhances and filters certain things about her voice.
BIOGRAPHY
Aria had a pretty normal childhood up until she was eighteen, which was the time when she decided she wanted to explore the ocean and the world like her other siblings have. So she left and traveled the vastness of the ocean. Most of it had been boring and barren and just dark and gloomy. But there were places were the sands were already white even though she hasn't approached the seabed yet. The reefs in the Orient and the Caribbean were beautiful, even though it took her great pains to stay hidden from human detection.
It had all been worth it until the time she was seen and chased by a couple of illegal poachers. They followed her, but since she was a siren, all she really had to do was swim fast and deep. They lost her trail soon enough. That incident made her avoid the more popular reefs, or those popular with the humans at least.
And then she decided she wanted to go on land too and see how humans live. For a month, she watched them closely before she deemed it safe enough to let her tail dry and her legs take its place. The first few steps had been shaky and she had looked very drunk. Not to mention it was under the cover of the dark when she decided to come out of the water.
A human came to her side to support her. He had been kind though his breath smelled of ale. He kept asking her where her home is, but Aria had no answer for that so the man decided to take her to his instead. And his home had been chaos for he too had quite a handful of siblings, though they weren't all born at the same time.
Aria learned that the man's name was Alexander and he was the middle sibling of the seven brothers at 19 years old. Granted, he was kind and good-looking. But the person Aria found interest in was his older brother, Tom. Though Tom didn't seem to harbor the same feelings for her, as he already was dating somebody.
Aria kept quiet about her unrequited love and gave Alexander a chance. Time came when Aria fell in love with the human also. Their relationship had been good. She lived among the family for a time, becoming a 'sister' to the boys, until she had enough to get her own apartment.
A few months pass, Aria discovered she could live an easier life using her powers. She started singing on a stage, using her voice to coax people into putting her into the industry and give her a short cut to fame.
And it was good to be famous and rich, Aria found out. However the industry wasn't how she imagined it. It was, as they say, "a dog eat dog world" and she quickly had to learn and adapt to their dirty tricks in order to stay in it.
The longer she stayed rich and famous, the worse her relationship with Alexander grew. Aria became conceited and selfish and Alexander couldn't take any more of it so he left. And that had been Aria's wake-up call. She realized how much she changed. She quit singing and used whatever was left of her money to get as far away from it as possible. That was when she found out where some of her siblings had gone and decided to follow them.
