Name: Ashaya Symi-Golh, Ash for short
Age: Several millenia
Birthday: Never born, came into existence around 6th century BC
Gender: Neutral biologically, refers to self as a collective genderless thought
Category: Citizen
Class: None
Appearance Description: Ashaya is a massive golem, standing at fourteen meters tall. He is made of stone, with a vaguely humanoid form with two long arms and two long legs set on a small torso. Out its back, below its shoulder blades protrude two large spires of violet crystal. Runes cover its hands and line the edges of its pieces. Broken and long-rusted chains extend from its wrists. Moss covers bits of its body. Its eyes glow with a strong blue glow, as do its runes.
Its feet are simple stubs that are wider at the end than at the knees.
Personality Description: Ashaya is very approachable, though being understandable is another matter entirely. As it speaks in nothing but rhymes or poetry (mainly out of personal preference) not everyone is capable of understanding its cryptic nature. It prefers to always go the long way around when it comes to thoughts, but when it comes to action it is as direct as one would expect from a massive golem.
It refers to itself in third person.
Powers:
MAIN: A SOLEMN SIMULACRUM OF INSIGHTS LONG GONE
Ashaya's runes confer upon him three things: its animation, its sapience, and its rather strange wisdom and insight-related ability. The runes store the wisdom and the history of the long-gone people who created it in it, and it can tap these runes to do several things:
share information and knowledge directly from itself onto other people,
absorb information and knowledge directly from other people,
call to mind people's memories that exist but cannot be accessed,
cause a flash of insight or a stroke of genius in people,
and alter thought or memory.
These abilities are highly potent, and as such its creators put restrictions upon them, most especially the capability for thought alteration. It can only do said alteration if a person is not lucid or has given permission. Alteration is also a lengthy process, and will take a minimum of a day to happen.
As for the other abilities, depending on the intensity of the sharing, absorption, recollection or burst of insight, they may cause negative effects ranging from mild disorientation, to mental trauma, to a coma, or possibly even complete mental devastation. These depend on the mental fortitude of the other person in question as well.
These abilities are activated and done through physical contact - breaking contact will break the effect prematurely.
Ashaya cannot target itself with these abilities.
SECONDARY: I WAS BORN OF EARTH, SWALLOWED BY THE EARTH, AND STILL I WALK THE EARTH
As a massive, ancient and powerful golem, Ashaya is understandably very physically powerful. 63 tons of mass in a body that can move with half the speed of a regular human produces great amounts of physical power, capable of shattering boulders and carrying great loads with ease. That much is given.
What stands out however is Ashaya's unnatural physical and magical resilience. Its runes, in addition to giving it sapience, power and life, also give its raw form sheer durability. In the past, it had been consumed by a violent volcanic eruption that erased its creators from the world and from the annals of the history books. It came out unscathed, if only several centuries later as it had become inactive and ended up buried deep in the woods of Manta Carlos.
As for magic, Ashaya is still affected, but to a much lesser degree. It takes only around 10% of the effects of any magic, whether friendly or hostile. Being hit with too much magic does make it shut down for a while though as the runes have to stabilize.
Ironically, despite its high magic resistance, Ashaya is extremely sensitive and perceptive of magic.
Biography: Long before there was anyone on Manta Carlos in the Pacific, or before it was even known as Manta Carlos, there lived a race now long gone and long forgotten, all wiped out from the earth. Very little is known of them, and barring Ashaya, there is no remnant of their existence still alive. As far as Ashaya knows - after all, it was buried into the Manta Carlos soil after being washed away against its will.
These people experimented a lot with the concept of animation, and in its heyday their home island somewhere in the northern Pacific was littered with constructs of stone and wood that assisted with everyday life. However, they never did figure out the concept of naval travel, which would prove to be their downfall.
In a great celebration, the people created Ashaya Symi-Golh, thinking to both surpass any of their prior achievements in animation, and to save their history for the ages. On the night of the great revel, the massive golem started to move, and performed more admirably than anyone could have asked, as it had accidentally developed sapience as well.
Ash was made naturally curious and inquisitive as part of its directive to keep consuming knowledge to bring to the people who created him. It wandered around in the forests, and into a small crag, where it discovered a large steam vent issuing from a pool of bubbling lava barely hidden under the surface of a hilltop. Once its creators found out, they quickly attempted to close it off, and succeeded.
It could not settle for such a simple conclusion to something it found so intriguing however, and it kept vigil there, noticing that day after day the area seemed to warp worse and the steam seemed to escape elsewhere. Though it took a long time, the pressure built up worse and worse, until a massive eruption occurred where none expected it to happen.
Ashaya was consumed by the hill as it collapsed upon itself, buried in lava and then dirt. The ensuing silence and isolation from the world made it shut down from all activity for a long time. The last thing its glowing eyes saw before the light faded from them was a massive wave, created by the weight of the world suddenly collapsing upon itself. And then it ceased to see or move.
The massive tsunami swept it along, sending it down south. Its weight threatened to sink it permanently, and yet through sheer chance, Ashaya managed to be swept all the way to an island now known as Manta Carlos. It slammed against the island's soil, and the impact lodged it deep into the ground. Over many centuries it was buried as nature took over, and there it stayed hidden in the forests.
That is, until a minor earthquake split open the surface and exposed its head to the world once more. It wasn't enough to wake it up, but then a certain girl saw it in a vision, and upon sensing this, the lights upon its dirt and moss-covered head began to shine again...
