At least this one was polite. Cornelius nodded once and raised his staff. "Thank you. Then I will begin." The ceremony was short and to the point now, a brief flash of light marking the establishment of the pact. Cornelius waited a little until after the magic had disappeared before vanishing himself.

The ring metaphorically brought Cornelius running back. He appeared before the contestant silently and asked, "Are you prepared to make your pact?"

Cornelius stared for a moment. His gaze went from the caramels to the girl's face and back. After a moment, he tentatively accepted the bundle. "Thank you," he said warily, looking as if he weren't sure. "I suppose we can begin now."

He called upon the magic, letting it flow around him as he ignored the newcomer momentarily. Only when the pact magic had settled did he turn to the person.

"Hello," he said blandly. "Are you prepared to make your pact?"

"Very well." He gestured, bringing up the magic. Then, before anybody else could appear, he shifted planes.
