I am in the process of making a clueless immortal I have made an immortal gathering contestants for a magical free-for-all tournament. He is the representative of a species of guardian spirits called Regalia who wish to form pacts with a human (or inhuman) partner. These pacts temporarily bestow upon the pact maker some of the Regalia's power. If certain measures are taken and the bond between pact maker and Regalia is strong enough, some might even be able to keep their newly gained powers (you know, as long as the power threads are worked through). The prize of the tournament is mysterious but what is known is that all contestants are granted Divine Right, commonly known as the Divine Right of Kings although what exactly it's meant for here is unknown. Nonetheless, most supernaturals see it as something worthy of respect. The tournament itself is largely structure-less. All "matches" occur in everyday life and may end up being something as simple as a test of patience or something as rigorous as a physical confrontation. They occur randomly whenever two contestants meet. Some Regalia care about whether or not this happens in the open. Others simply don't.

There are two types of "victories" here. The first one is obviously winning the entire competition. Nobody is actually eliminated. The overall winner is chosen by their win : loss ratio. Of course, the enterprising contestant could simply score a single victory and hide away the rest of the time... But what fun would that be? The second one is winning over the partnered Regalia enough that it lets the pact maker keep its powers.

I am looking for contestants (willing or unwilling) for this tournament. All match ups between Regalia and pact makers will be random. Some Regalia / powers will be obviously better than others. Some might never even get drawn up. If you get a pairing you don't like, you can simply seek out a different Regalia at the cost of upsetting the one you already have and making it subsequently harder to make pacts with other ones. Or, if the Regalia you're interested in already has a pact maker, you can. Beat them up. For the pact.

New: Yes, your character may gain multiple Regalia but each time they do, it will be harder to form pacts with others. For your first Regalia, the chance will always be 10/10. For each one succeeding, the number decreases. So for the second Regalia, the chance becomes 8/10 and the third would be 6/10, 4/10, 2/10, and then 1/10. If anybody reaches 1/10, that is where the number will stay frozen.

Info and examples of Regalia can be found here.

In addition, every one of my characters will have part of their power and history sections hidden now because several of them might be Regalia in disguise. If you are interested in this sort of game, I strongly suggest you don't click any of those labeled A Game of Divine Right.

New: I will be making a thread where everyday between one to three times a day, there will be a post introducing a mystery Regalia. Whoever posts first (short, three-word posts are totally fine) will be told the Regalia's title and temperament. They will then have the choice to either try partnering with it or letting it go. In either case, I will then give them the Regalia's full details regardless (so you know what you missed).

New: This thread will always include Regalia who are also partnered so you can find them all! In addition, until two pacts have been formed everyday, any players until that point will be able to meet a new Regalia. The first one will be guaranteed to not be already partnered. For the rest, the entire pool will be opened.

In order to gain their first Regalia, a character must first thread with Cornelius. At the end of the thread, I will then PM you with your Regalia's information. There will be a prize for the person who discovers all 185 Regalia so feel free to discuss if you want but know that you are helping your rivals at the same time. I will be keeping logs throughout this.

New: Cornelius has been approved. All initial threads will now be made. Please see the Discord for more information. If you are a late arrival, please post to this thread first before posting anywhere. There is now a late arrival thread. Please use that if you are now joining the plot.

New: Should a character steal a Regalia bonded to another character, they will not be able to form a bond with it. All Regalia may form only one bond at a time.

New: Trading Regalia must make sense IC. This will drop your compatibility rate as normal but no rolls are required.

And umm... That's all I can think of right now. Let me know if you've got questions. We do have a Discord group so just ask for the link!

I'm throwin' in Jude. He's interested more in the competition side of things then the power side of things.
