Pham Thi Anh Sang

Now that all of the food related things were out of the way, Anh Sang moved on to stage three of her master plan that she had only just decided on right that moment. With a sprawling action that could only be called overly energetic or even juvenile (she personally preferred words like cute or elegant), she shoved an armful of her light-crafted butterflies down the long drop of the stairwell. Stuck to each butterfly's wings was a sticker with her face on it and the caption 'Vote Anh Sang for president!' Honestly, she wasn't sure why she hadn't done this earlier. She just had so many butterflies around already and stickers were awesome.

This was, again, step three of her master plan. The first two steps being: One, run for president and two, bribe people with food. Step four was still a big unknown but step five was definitely a big, bold, and simple 'WIN'. And then after that, Anh Sang guessed that she'd just write home to Mommy and Daddy and let them know that, hey! She had done something good!

Since she was happy enough to have been walking on air, the girl didn't see any reason to not do that. A trail of her remaining butterflies formed levitating skipping stones under her feet as she bounced down the hallways, throwing thin scraps of different colored papers around, all of them advertising her for the elections.

Milo guessed he was running now. Inspired by Mr. Not A Rich Kid's speech doing it just to be a bit rebellious and because, well, he could. Hey, he had some free time to spare, right?

The whole school was buzzing with the elections, and out of all the candidates, there was one he'd heard about that he was way more invested in. Because… wow.

This was just adorable. If Milo- tough, big and intimidating, sinister side job- was weak to anything, it was cuteness. So when he stumbled upon the stairwell, flooded with butterflies and stickers, a tiny smile graced his usually grouchy looking face.

So far when talking to or investigating other candidates he'd been critical, but this girl, he was actually rooting for. He wanted to offer her a little encouragement, he decided, and approached her when she got close enough in the hall, giving a little wave.

"Anh Sang, right?" he called, although, it was very obvious with her face and name boldly on all the advertisements. His smile grew warmer. "Hi. Name's Milo. Just wanted to say you're doing a real good job here."

"La?" Anh Sang turned her head at the sound of her name. Her stepping stone butterflies froze right under her as she paused. The very first thing that came to mind was that there was a giant in the hallway! That was kind of scary. He also had strawberry hair. That was awesome! Pink was the best hair color all the way!

Never one to want to show fear in the face of, um. Giant people who seemed to be twice as tall as her? That sounded about right. Anyways, the girl puffed up her cheeks and jumped up a few times. The platform under her went up a bit so instead of staring at the underside of the boy's chin, she was. Staring at the underside of the boy's chin at an angle that didn't make it seem like she was trying to re-enact The Scream. Her eyes were more or less level with his chest now.

"Um, hi, hi! Nice to meet you!" Anh Sang tried to do a bit of a bow but it was kind of weird to try it while just floating there so she just gave up half way and started to flap her arms instead. This was a completely normal greeting. Completely. Normal. "Ngggh, thank you! I'm trying really hard and it's a lot of work but I'm having so much fun!"

She stopped for a moment. "Sooo. Are you a giant?" She asked with wide eyes. "I've never met one before! You're so tall! It's cool!"

Milo bit at the inside of his mouth to contain his amusement. This tiny girl was so precious. He politely ignored her flailing (both literal and otherwise), instead nodding and tilting his head down at her.

"It's nice to meet you too. This is a very creative, and cute, way of advertising. I'd offer my help, but at the same time, you seem to be doing very well with your own magic and energy."

He paused too, then did end up laughing. "Not quite. I think all my fae genes just went into height, appearance wise." He barely resisted the urge to ruffle Anh Sang's hair. Probably shouldn't do that to your political opponent, too disrespectful, but man. So adorable, it was really hard not to.

"Fae? So are you a fairy, then, mister?" Definitely, people could be sure that Anh Sang thought this boy was special. She didn't always go around calling people Mister, after all. Well, not right off the bat, anyways, but it seemed right to in this case. Plus, he had called the things she did cute. Anh Sang automatically liked him.

"Is that why your hair is all pretty and summery?" The girl asked. "Because I know somebody else with pink hair, too, but I'm pretty sure he's not a fairy." To be sure, Anh Sang had a very vague idea in her head of what a fairy was, anyways. She wasn't all that great with western things and eastern fairies all seemed to be pale, willowy women with boring black hair. Pretty and long hair but arggh! Why just black?

"To be honest, I don't know. I don't think I fit the definition of fairy so much as just a mix of things," Milo answered with a light shrug. "It's still new to me. A general fae is the best term to use." This was actually kind of nice. Kids were always so honest and straightforward, even if sometimes blunt, and he liked that. The use of mister was also rather endearing.

He reached up a hand to his thick, strawberry blond hair, running a few fingers through. He grinned. "Pretty sure, huh? The species can be pretty diverse, so you never know. I'm not knowledgeable with it enough to confirm or deny if pink hair is a fae thing, though. Who knows, could be."

He stopped himself. "Oh, I don't think I ever mentioned it… kind of getting used to the idea still, I suppose. I'm running in the elections too, so I've been looking into the other candidates. You, I've decided, are a very respectable opponent."

She nodded thoughtfully. Mister Wong was kind of magic in his own way when he wasn't down about things. He was getting a lot better lately, though! Maybe she could actually ask him about fairy stuff. And also if she could have whatever it was that gave people pink hair.

"La? You're running, too?" Anh Sang didn't quite pout at that but it was a near thing. She screwed up her face instead, looking as conflicted as a young child could. "Aw, but I like you!" She protested. "Can we still be friends, though? I'm friends with most other people who are running for council right now."

Except for. There was that one candidate that she hadn't met yet, she thought. There was big sis Morgan and cool almost sis Marina. Of course there was Wei, too, and then the girl with the blonde hair. Maybe there was another one, too? She couldn't say for sure. As far as Anh Sang knew, there were a million people running but only six other students in particular stood out to her.

Milo gave her a little head tilt, as if the idea she'd presented was unimaginable to him. "Of course we can, why wouldn't we be? It's a friendly competition, not a fight." He definitely wasn't going to fight a little girl, at least. But overall, in this situation, he'd been quite peaceful. It was a breath of fresh air.

He reached out and gave Anh Sang's shoulder a gentle, reassuring touch. "Friends. For sure. In fact, I was going to ask if you wanted to talk about campaign things together, perhaps do something fun. Does that sound good?"

And instantly, Anh Sang was overjoyed. Friends were the best! Friends were like Mommy's special bento boxes that she only got if she had been extra good for the week. And since Anh Sang was a young child, she was totally okay with saying that she loved collecting cool, awesome, and or cute friends. Which was almost everybody, okay, but it was different kinds of cool, awesome, and cute.

Still, she did frown a little. "It sounds fun but I'm already campaigning with big sis Morgan." Anh Sang absolutely adored Morgan but she also wanted to do things with lots of other people, too, so she felt weird about things. "Oh, if you want to do anything else, though, we totally can! Like, um! Work on election stuff together? But we can't run together, I mean, sorry. Is that okay?"

This girl. She was a tiny angel child, and Milo was so very charmed by her enthusiasm and cuteness levels.

"Oh no," he quickly said, laughing again. "Don't worry, I'm not trying to steal you away, and I think your loyalty is very honorable. General election things are what I meant, apologies. I wouldn't have anyone run with me, since I'm probably the least invested in winning. Wouldn't want to tie you down. I'm just curious about how things are going for you, and what your future plans might be. I've been having fun with this, and you seem like you have too."

Okay, he couldn't resist it for any longer. He had to, she was just so sincere. He ruffled Anh Sang's hair lightly, then fixed it up immediately after, the sentiment without the mess. Because Milo took such things very seriously.

"You're a good kid, I hope you know that."
