Going once...twice... [Mystery Auction]

Though hosted in part by Club Gambit, the event took place just outside of the establishment in the lot beside it. The weather was still warm enough to justify an outside gathering, even with the coming of winter. Not to mention, with the age restriction on Club Gambit, it was easier just to do the whole bachelor auction outside of the premises.

The lucky auctioneer was a slender, prim and proper young pianist for Club Gambit. The pale Félix Tenebre held a small pile of cards in his hands. Each of those cards would be what the audience would bid for. They wouldn't have a clue what they were actually buying until the deal was done. Honest, Félix found that a little weird. But it was for charity... and part of his job, apparently.

“Uh. Hello everyone,” Félix smiled into a microphone atop a small podium. He gently placed the cards on the podium and turned the first one over face-up. It had the name of who would be bid on, but that wasn't the part Félix was supposed to give out. All he could give to everyone else was the small blurb.

“Welcome to the mystery bachelor and bachelorette auction. All proceeds will be going to two non-profit organizations: one is the Starlight Academy Scholarship Fund for Underprivileged Students, which helps pay for flights and rent for impoverished students. The other organization is to the city's Wildlife Conservation project. Hopefully you all know how an auction works, so why don't we get to it?”

Félix hastily read over the first card, then eyed the audience. One of these people was about to pay for a date. “First up is a young man in his early twenties, available to anyone with...a...pretty face. He loves beauty, and is a true gentleman to any creature he meets. I also hear he can cook a very fine dinner.”

“We'll start the bidding at $30. Anyone? $30!”

Batting her eyes around, it felt weird to be in such a weird place, an auction. Especially since the prize, or reward, was in fact a human, I live human. Even though she herself hated the fact of it all, it was for charity, and since she had nothing better to do she had decided to check it out. Raising her hand to bid, Merana seemed that 30 was a good starting price to her. She just hoped that someone else was going to bid too.

Torix, being absurdly rich and not having much to do with his money, was always on the lookout for fun donation opportunities such as this. While he was more interested in the charity side of the event, he had also not been on any sort of date in a while—so that part might be fun too.

He had considered being a bachelor himself, but…the idea that students could potentially bid on him was a bit iffy. Especially if they were in his fan club. Torix shuddered at the thought. So, he would happily spend his money on bidding instead.

“I bid $40!” he yelled out as he raised his hand. He wasn’t really sure if he actually wanted to go for this one, but he liked to raise the stakes. It was fun, and it helped get the charity even more money—so why not?

Morgan was excited to participate in the auction, she had a large sum of money generously given to her by her parents before she left home. Though she never cared for dating, or romance, she decided to participate for charity, besides she figured the worst thing it could bring was a fancy dinner with a hansom man. Bidding had begun on the first bachelor, and Morgan had decided to place a bid. She raised her hand "45 dollars!"

Looking around, it seemed that two other people were in the room, voting for this mystery person. Did she really want to win him? Maybe. It was most likely someone she didn't even know, even though that she barely knew anyone on this island. Blinking a few times, she raised her hand and said as loud as she felt like "50 dollars."

"50 dollars! Going once...twice..." Félix scanned the audience, but it seemed like everyone was still tentative of spending money on a mystery. Félix thought the whole bidding on a person was weird to begin with, so it didn't surprise him others wouldn't jump to the chance. Just yet.

"Sold!" Félix pointed to the dark-haired girl, feigning another smile. He turned the card around, revealing the prize's name and a small photo. "You've just won for yourself... Bedivere Fontaine! Where are you, Bedivere?" Félix looked around in the audience for the (un?)lucky man.

Merana would be approached by a couple others to fill out the pledge of $50. She didn't have to have the money on her, she could leave contact info for later, but cash on hand was always nice.

Meanwhile, Félix set the old card aside and looked at the next description, "Next is a girl of mystery... and beauty! She may keep to herself, but man or woman, I doubt you can resist leaving her alone!"

"Let's start this one at $35. Anyone?"

Odin had placed a cigar on the table, in an ashtray he brought with him. His eyes rolled at the last one. Though something had caught his attention.

Mystery eh?

Odin smiled a bit as he took off his jacked and tossed it over his chair and put his drink up to his mouth. He raised his hand up in the air with two fingers up and the rest clenched.

Going to do a double post for different characters.

Bedivere Fontaine

From a corner of the room, Bedivere was attempting to make his way around to the girl who had "won" him. He had sort of lost track of where the hand had gone up from but he thought that he had the general area down. Whoever it was, she at least would know how he looked, right? The club wasn't too well lit, though, so. Well.

Oh, it'll work out eventually. For the time, he contented himself with standing against the wall, looking over the group of people that probably contained the girl. In particular, he was keeping an eye out for girls who seemed more on the quiet side -judging from her voice, that's what he had pegged her as. And he really was glad that it was girl, although he didn't think he would have minded much if that man had gotten the bid either. Green hair is always interesting to work with, Bedivere thought idly. Come to think of it, the club's owner had green hair, too. He would have loved to do something with that.

Was he supposed to be insulted, though, that he had only gone for fifty bucks?

Double post go go go.

Pham Thi Anh Sang

Late to the auction, Anh Sang could pout and watch as the first round of bids came to a close. Aw, he looks pretty! She was a little frustrated at having lost a person who could have been a good friend. The light from the cloud of butterflies at her feet was blinding, as if trying to comfort her. Gloomily, she nudged them with foot before remembering that she had been asked by the club's workers to keep the light down.

The butterflies dimmed as she bounced to an empty seat. The coins in her wallet jingled a bit, too, as she held it to herself guardedly. In it, there was her allowance for the last month -forty dollars- plus some extra from her not so well regulated savings. Her mommy and daddy had seemed pretty incredulous about her idea to go and buy herself a friend but Anh Sang had been quick to reassure them that it wasn't like that. She just liked meeting random people from time to time and it was kind of fun to be competing with other people sometimes.

She frowned at the starting bid of the second person, mentally counting her money. Thirty five was an awful lot from her wallet. If she spent that much, then she wouldn't be able to buy art supplies and candies. Then again, her mommy and daddy had told her that it was okay to ask them for more money on things that she really wanted.

Hesitantly, she put up her hand. But it seemed like she was too short and her feet wouldn't even touch the ground anyways, so she had a few butterflies fly over her head and cast a spotlight on her. "Um, um, um! Thirty seven?!" To be honest, she hadn't even really been paying attention to the description of this person. She just wanted to be a part of this thing that everybody else was doing.

Odin scoffed a moment and rolled his eyes. His mind was calling the people who bid every name in the book. Even the Kitchen Sink. So he did what any man would. He lit up his cigar, than put up his hand once more.

"50"

He stated, he was sitting at his table in the back with a drink that was placed on his table and he began to take a slow slip, trying to wait to see if he had won or not. Trying to find out who it was in his head. Crossing names of students. Or teachers.
