For the first time since he had arrive on Manta Carlos, Jacob had both found the time to get out on the town and allowed himself to do so. Unlike so many other times before, he had finally found himself caught up on all his paperwork and grading AND he was feeling good enough about himself to not just go home and rest. Things were looking a bit more up and up for Jacob. After a bit of a rough start with some swimming lessons and a girl, he thought he had found someone interesting while jogging in the woods and a lesson in the Power Classes revealed something interesting about him. So he felt it was time to finally kick back and have a drink of some kind.
Being the tropical island that it was, Manta Carlos had no shortage of places that dispensed the nectar of the gods both within and without the city. Jacob chose to stay within the city limits because he didn't feel like trying to deal with the incoming beach crowds.
It took a bit of searching to find a place that he felt suited his tastes for that evening. First he had to pass up the clubs of the dance- and night- variety. Those were too full of probably-underage people and loud noises. The sentiment may have labeled him an old man, but he frankly wasn't in the mood to deal with that kind of atmosphere. The places that were themed around the tropical island had to be skipped, if only because he wanted to save those places for when summer rolled around. So that left the actual bar bars. The place Jacob settled on had just the right kind of atmosphere for him.
The place wasn't too big and it wasn't too crowded, but the people there seemed warm and familiar. It had a nice lodge feel to it, with wood and hunting trophies. It kind of reminded him of his father's den back home. Best of all, it had a nice patio that looked out over the water, and it was here that Jacob found his place to relax. He ordered himself a nice, apparently locally-made, beer and looked out over the night waters and hoped for his luck to hold out.
