"All right, here goes!" He screwed up his face at the watery sphere, trying to muster up a serious looking frown but ending up with a pained grimace instead. It would have to do, and it wasn't like fish could tell the difference anyways, what with their ugly scaly faces and weird lips. Were those even lips? They looked more like God had tried to dress up the fish in shirts that were just a few centimeters long. In the end, He must have just thrown up His hands and said to let 'em curl.

"Now you listen here, okay?" Luke started, speaking loudly and pronouncing each syllable with artificial clarity. "You tell those mermen and mermaids that I know they are listening to us. You tell them right now that they can swim and hide all they want but I will always know. Always. I might be desert bird but the ocean might as well be a wet one with the amount of salt burying it in. Expect me."

And so saying, he stepped back, with a Go ahead and turn them loose look on his face.

As she listens to Luke rant at the fish, she could feel the fear and confusion of the little lives in her hands. She wanted to do something, but it was kind of fun to hear the boys' determination, wanting to find the merman and mermaids. She envied him in a way, as she didn't have that much determination without evidence or a reason. After he was done interrogating them, she whispered a sorry to them and lowered the ball of water as they talked to her in her head. Setting them free, she looking back at Luke. "They will rely the message if they see any, they said." She nods, not wanting to drop his spirits.

Luke nodded back contently, satisfied that his fish bullying was complete for the time. "It's really nice of you to talk to them for me," he said. "People are usually too taken in with those merfolk lies to even think about speaking back to their little fish minions." It always made him happy to see something perfectly in their right mind, completely uncharmed. It really would have been awful if this girl here had fallen under their spell because the only way Luke how knew how to deal with problems was by cracking skulls but he didn't want to touch a girl either.

"So it's just a waiting game now, huh?" Luke said with a bit of impatience. "Never really liked that sort of thing but what can you do?" He glanced out at the open sea. If he followed the fish, maybe the merfolk would see him and leave. So he plopped right down on the sandy beach, stretching out his legs. "I'll just sit here then," he said with a scowl. "They think that I'll leave if it looks like nothing's happening immediately but I'll prove them all wrong!"

Once again, Luke was going on one of his rants. As Claire observed the man, looking up and down him, she wondered as to why he was saying such crazy things, yet again. She nodded weakly to his statements, unsure of how to exactly reply. "Oh yeah of course." She said, accepting his thank you for helping him connect to the fishes. It seemed that be always had a of to say about on subject. saying words that have no meaning to her or anyone else, make him unique.

Claire watched as he sat in the sand. She smiled at him, taking a few steps to the shore, but ultimately sitting a little over the ankle deep of water. "Waiting? You plan to wait until they come back?" Though Claire admired his determination, she had little faith that her aquatic friends would come back with any info, if at all. She felt a bit back for Luke, as she didn't want him waiting out here, as she had given him false hope. "They did not give me a time frame, but I guess I could just give them a warning if they take too long?" Then again, it seemed that the fish were not exactly ecstatic to be up close with someone that looked like they wanted to fry and eat them. She would either have to fake up what the fishes said, leave him, or wait. It all depended on what mood she was in.

"Life's all a waiting game," Luke said sagely, doodling little pictures of crab spiders the sand with his finger. To be honest, he didn't much see the different between the two besides the fact that one mostly lived on land and the other mostly lived in water. There was definitely some kind of family relationship there and he bet that the dinners were a hoot.

"Warning's great and all, if you don't mind," he said cheerfully. "Maybe they would take it more seriously from you than me since you're actually a water person."

"I guess you're right." His words resonated with her, because that was really all that life was. Right now, they were waiting for fish that Claire knew were not going to come back anytime soon. She may not know what for sure, but she did just scare many little fishes into thinking that this man needed to see whatever he desired to. If he was getting his way, they would stay here for days on end, most likely dying here just because he was determined. "Knowing how much free time fishes have, it may be a while, maybe even a few days." She said to Luke, hoping he would understand better. "We don't want to die waiting for them, right?" She bit her lip as she spoke, knowing that his logic would most likely overrule a regular person's morals.

Luke had already baffled her with his weird sense of logic. It was a refreshing thing for her to be around. As she was about to tell him to go home, as she would keep him updated on the fishes, she sensed something in the water. As she turned her sugar towards the water, something dark was coming towards them. Unsure of what it was, she sent out a 'who is it' to the nearby animals, but nothing replied. Claire bit her lip as she looked over at Luke. "Maybe you got your wish." She said as she turned her attention back to the water. She wasn't able to make out what it was, but it was different from anything she had sensed before, as different animals usually felt different.

Dying while waiting over fish was an embarrassing idea and for a short time, Luke seriously contemplated just up and leaving. Ain't no way that he was going to have some fish get the last laugh on him. Or maybe that was what they just wanted him to think? The misshapen cogs in Luke's head were turning madly and the ideas they were giving him were contradictory. On one hand, yes! He should stay! It was all a trick! On one hand, no! It was all a trick! He should leave!

So Luke did what Luke did best and just kind of shrugged. Best just to keep put and keep things really simple.

When the girl mentioned that something was coming, though, he visibly perked up. "Eh? Is that so?" He scanned the surface of the water, catching a glimpse of something dark there. "That's it, isn't it? What's it exactly?"
