Pham Thi Anh Sang

In an unusual stroke of brilliance, Anh Sang made the realization that if she could bribe the other students to vote for her, she should try that with her competition, too. That was why she was now hauling a sack of bananas down the hallway with her, scouring the place for last semester's student council secretary. She didn't know if Wei really liked bananas but he was a monkey person so Anh Sang really hoped he did. Also, she kind of spent most of her allowance on ten pounds of the fruit.

Ten pounds was a lot. It was more than ninth of her weight. Luckily, she had her butterflies to help her carry it. They floated behind her, crushed into a platform with her present. Slash bribe slash whatever!

He had to be here somewhere.

Wei was doing his work. He was campaigning, yelling, passing out little information booklets as well as just generally amiably chatting to show off his social skills. Generally speaking, he was more socially savvy that Morgan, and thus would have a better time connecting to the general population of the school.

Marina was the queen bee, and by and large she was revered, but Wei was friends with Marina and also friends with the people Marina shoved in lockers so. He thought he could skirt by there too.

He was just standing in the hall when a smell hit his nose.

Bananas. And lots of them.

He turned and looked around. Where was that tasty odor coming from?

It was actually a lot of work running around with something she totally wasn't carrying herself! Then again, it might have had something to do with the fact that she hadn't been doing anything but run around madly for the last few days. At the very least, though, she was now two hundred percent more confident in her chances of winning.

She heard people talking about Wei being around, so she simply wiggled her way through the crowd, following the line of people holding booklets. Personally, she thought they were kind of boring but it did make everything seem more official. Anh Sang searched around for a little longer.

There! As the crowd opened up again, she caught a glimpse of her target. "WEEEEIIII!" She bulldozed her way through the rest of the people, as much as a little girl with a sack of bananas and a bunch of butterflies could have. "I NEED TO TALK TO YOU!"

Wei suddenly saw the origin of the scent. A big bag of bananas being hefted by a girl and a bunch of light butterflies. They were cute, the two of them.

Looking at her, he tilted his head.

"Okay?" He said. To be honest his mouth was watering at the prospect of some tasty bananas. And he could use them to make banana bread tomorrow, so it was a win win. "What can I do for you?"

Subtly was for people who weren't cute little eleven year-old girls with no concept of the idea. Anh Sang got straight to the point and motioned the platform of her butterflies to come closer so that the bag was more visible. "I'm running for the council, too!" She announced. "If I gave you these, would you vote for me?"

It didn't really occur to her to ask him to stop running or anything. Because they were both running, obviously, so why would anybody stop?

Wei's mind was fogged by the smell of bananas that he almost missed what exactly it was Anh Sang was asking him to do. He squinted at her as though he couldn't be sure if she was serious or not and actually thought about this. He couldn't give away his vote to the enemy. That was wrong just on principle. But at the same time.

He really wanted those bananas.

"I have a better idea," He began. "What if we ran together?"

She frowned a bit at Wei's offer. "But I'm already running with Morgan," the girl pointed out doubtfully. "Three people can't run at together, can they? And you'd have to ask Morgan, too, if that's okay."

"Wait, are you still only running for se-cre-ta-ry again?" To be perfectly honest, Anh Sang never thought of what she'd do if he said no to her or something like that. Besides, she already bought these bananas! She couldn't possibly eat them all on her own.

Wei crossed his arms and frowned. Now he had a problem. He could either be honest and say that he was running for president like Morgan, or lie and say that he was running for secretary to get a share of their votes.

But then, he would obviously get caught in his lie pretty quickly, since he'd already admitted to Morgan that he was going to go as hard as he possibly could this time around.

Finally he sighed.

"Well, that's true. I guess three people can't run together."

Still frowning, Anh Sang let out an exaggerated hum of thought. She didn't really want to keep these bananas to herself but then again, she also didn't want to just give them away for nothing at all. The girl turned to look at the bananas for a moment, and then back at Wei.

"Why don't you just vote for me? That's just one thing," she pointed out. In hindsight, maybe it hadn't been that great of an idea to spend all of her money trying to win over just one person. It had seemed like a good idea at the time when she had thought it up, though! "Or, I don't know! You can help me bake things!" More cookies were always good.

Wei had to admit this girl was determined if nothing else. If he'd been a weaker monkey he would have conceded to her terms and cried on voting day when he lost his one precious vote to the idea of free bananas. But he was stronger than that, and being on the council meant more to him than a big bag of sweet, sweet potassium.

And yet.

His stomach growled.

But if the alternative was just baking, then...

Wei smiled.

"Alright, alright then." He said. "I'll help you bake, and you give me bananas. That seems fair to me."
