Pham Thi Anh Sang

"I mean, it sounds okay," Anh Sang said, fidgeting doubtfully. "But a week is an awfully long time. People are going to get pretty bored halfway through and just plain stop." She thought that out of everybody there, she probably knew that best. After all, Anh Sang was the youngest of them and Anastasia and Morgan -as much as she loved her- both seemed like such serious people who would probably enjoy taking a long time to get down every point on some list.

But she didn't think most people were like that. "Maybe just a few days?" Anh Sang suggested. "We should probably tell people where they shouldn't go, too. Like the Forbidden Forest and some of the scary places in the Underground."

"Im in agreement that a week is a bit to long, perhaps three to four days would be better."

As for the islands more dangerous areas, it was a given that the school should recommend against students going to them, but a lot of them just did it anyway, it was a shame.

"Lets be sure to strongly suggest staying away from those dangerous areas, we can even mark them off on a map or something."

"Perhaps a long weekend?" If they were suggesting three or four days, a long weekend would work perfectly. It would make it more of an event, something people could get behind.

"It would make sense to have a map of 'in bounds' and 'out of bounds' areas." That way no one would wander off into dangerous areas. "The island is quite large, after all, and there's not much reason to go north of the school or east of the city."

"Okay, I guess that sounds good," Anh Sang said thoughtfully. "But can we also do things like really explain why these places are dangerous? People just keep going to them anyways, yeah, but that's because they keep hearing rumors and stuff and just want to know for real. Can't we just flat out tell them so they don't have to go by themselves? And maybe just get pictures from people who have been in there."

A good part of Anh Sang's campaign had been focused on things like safety, after all. If she couldn't do anything on that while she was in office, then what would everybody think of her? She absolutely had to just push through with it.

"Perhaps thats something we can focus on separately from the scavenger hunt. We should be a bit more open as to why these forbidden areas are forbidden, we can sort of scare people away from exploring them."

She took that down, they could discuss how theyd do that another time maybe.

"Ok lets go over everything we have for this scavenger hunt. It takes place over a few days, it takes students all around the school, and the city, we also set up borders for where students should and shouldnt be going, like forbidden places and places where there isnt much to explore."

Anastasia was suddenly plunged into uncomfortable territory. The truth was, she didn't know why they couldn't go there. For her, it had been enough to know that they weren't supposed to. She didn't need someone to explain the exact details of why a forest was dangerous to decide not to go in - the fact that it was forbidden was enough.

She obeyed the rules, so shoot her.

"And why is that, exactly?" She figured asking in the council was better than asking otherwise. "Everything else sounds fine. I'm simply curious - I haven't been in the forest." Or any other area she'd been told not to go.

Anh Sang blinked. For a moment, there was just nothing she could say. Was Anastasia actually asking why they couldn't go into the forbidden place that was forbidden? Anastasia? The girl who seemed so really smart? Okaaayyyyy...

Maybe she just actually didn't know, Anh Sang thought strangely. That was so weird. Maybe Anastasia was just so proper and stuff that the thought never occurred to her.

Luckily, though, Anh Sang knew exactly why! She couldn't help but feel a little glad that she knew something Anastasia didn't, like it made her a better fit for actually being president.

"Well, there's a lot of evil spirits in the Forbidden Forest," Anh Sang said, trying to find a smart way to explain it. "I couldn't tell you how they got there in the first place but in my family, we believe in laws of magical attrac-tion. Good attracts good and evil attracts evil. If you have more good or bad things in one place, it makes it more likely that more good or more bad is going to come and join up!"

"So it's actually a really good idea to just try and ignore the forest the best you can because if you don't, you're going into a place that's constantly getting more and more evil. The things that people told you before about how to "survive" there might not work by the time you actually go in! Or, you're already an evil person who's going to make the place more evil, which is bad, of course!"

Slowly, though, her smile turned into a small frown. "Actually, one of my cousins got killed in the forest right before the school year started. He's a priest who's used to dealing with dangerous spirits a lot but he still didn't make it and doesn't remember what happened. You can ask him yourself, actually. He's a ghost now. He teaches the demonology class."

"If both you and your cousin are comfortable with this, perhaps we can use that story to scare people away from the forest, I think providing some harsh examples of why students should follow the rules could help keep people away."

She had a pretty good set of notes down now,

"I think this has been quite a good first session. Perhaps we should start winding down now? And I assume you'll be able to host these yourself now Anh Sang?"

Right up until Sang said that her cousin had been killed in the forest, she was really, really not sold. Magic was still new to her, and the idea that a place could just be bad seemed profoundly unscientific. Of course, if someone had actually died there, there would have to be some kind of danger. She frowned, clearly confused by the whole thing, but decided that she would simply have to look it up on her own time. The library probably had some kind of history book that would establish just why the forest was forbidden.

Of course, the meeting couldn't have ended without one more thing, and Anastasia choked slightly, her head turning to stare at Morgan and then Ahn Sang in turn. Ahn Sang? So her actual name was... both her names? Why did she have two names?

It seemed like a small mercy that she'd never had to say it before.

"I think we're done as well." She said, settling back in her seat, ready to leave if Ahn Sang officially ended the meeting.

Somehow, it seemed like the meeting was still lacking something. Anh Sang frowned to herself, trying to figure what it was exactly. In her mind, she had envisioned the first meeting ever as some kind of scary, long thing, complete with bad lighting and lots of people being randomly ominous. Instead, they were in a brightly light room with clear windows. And there were only three of them, with not a single shady person in sight.

But they totally discussed stuff about people dying and it was very serious, so. That was worth something right?

"Well, okay, I guess," the girl allowed. She nodded a few times as if compounding her words. "Well, all right. I guess that's all for this time. Good job everybody!" She didn't really know why she was saying that but her Daddy always said that after a long day of work and it seemed to be right.
