She had won. It took Anastasia a moment to process that, to connect the dots and realize that she didn't mean she'd won as in 'she'd gotten a place on the council', but instead she'd won as in 'she was the head of the council'.

Oh.

Even Anastasia - normally blank and emotionless as anything - showed a reaction to that. Her eyebrows went up, eyes wide as she tried to process it.

"I... no. I'm the treasurer. I handle money and financials." Which was a good life lesson sort of thing, wasn't it? "Our secretary appears to not be here yet." Not exactly an impressive start. "I don't see why we shouldn't start, though." There was no point in holding up the whole council. Probably they had a good reason for not being there, or had missed the notification. It didn't really matter either way.

"That said, so far Morgan is the only person who has been on the student council before, yeah?"

Pham Thi Anh Sang

"That's right!" Anh Sang said, nodding furiously at Anatasia's last observation. At least Big Sis was there to help out with the first meeting, when half of the council hadn't even shown up yet. It felt kind of strange to start without the last two but the Academy was kind of strange and sometimes waiting was just boring and did nothing.

"But, Morgan, if you have any idea how to start things, just let me know, okay?" She said. "I mean, you probably know tons of stuff that I'm supposed to cover now but didn't think of."

Morgan nodded with her eyes closed, it was fair enough, she had more experience than anyone else here.

"Very well, ill prepare some notes you can review later so that you can take over Anh Sang."

She cleared her throat.

"Alright, first order of business. How about we discuss me and Anastasias idea? We want to make the experience for new arrivals a bit easier, things can be very confusing, what are some ways we can make things better for them"

It seemed fairly obvious to Anastasia that while Sang seemed to have the power, Morgan was going to be the real brains behind the council. Anastasia couldn't really object - she was new to the council, and to that kind of thing to begin with. She could take a solid guess at the sort of things the council would be doing and expected to do, but she hadn't actually experienced them herself.

"We could expand the tour program - not many people realize it's an option, and I feel like the welcome packet could explicitly mention that it's an option." Lots of people didn't even realize it existed, and thus missed the chance to get a proper tour from someone who had been around the school much longer.

Pham Thi Anh Sang

"Wouldn't it be nicer if we paired people up before classes started?" Anh Sang said. "I mean, I got really lucky because I got to meet lots of cool people really fast! But some people are just so quiet. I don't think they'd ever leave their rooms if somebody wasn't trying to get them outside. It's so weird! We should really find friends for them."

"Also, can we do things actually in the city, too? Being around campus all the time is kind of boring but if you go to the city, it's huuuuuge!" To be honest, this stuff about tours around the school made her want to yawn a little. It just seemed so bland, but maybe that was because she was so used to it now. The city, though. That was still pretty exciting. And also kind of scary! But she bet that the other two girls would think she was childish if she actually said that part out loud.

Morgan tried to think about both sides of the coin, on one side Campus tours where very important to new students, but they where certainly boring and intimidating. But Anh Sang brought up an excellent point, after a long Campus tour it would be nice to give a quick run through of the city.

"The campus may be a bit boring, but tours of it are very important. Perhaps we can do both tours of the campus and tours of the city? We should keep the Campus tours, maybe make them a bit shorter and to the point, and then when said tour is complete we can give our new students a quick, fun tour of the city."

Anastasia frowned slightly at the mention of tours being boring. Maybe she was just too boring, but for her, tours were extremely important. She liked things like that - things that made it clear just what the school was, and just how it worked.

"As a new student, it's easy to feel lost. Tours are important, and help establish the school's identity." She protested. "Knowing the city is important, but we can't skip over the school."

She took a moment to reign in her emotions, trying to think clearly about the subject. "What if we grouped new students together into teams, and made it a contest or something? Not for the sake of the contest, but so that everyone was automatically in a group. We could mix it up so that older and younger students are in all the groups."

Pham Thi Anh Sang

Maybe it was just her but Anh Sang was already a little bored of the meeting. Being president sure was hard work if she had to listen through a lot of these all the time. Since she was president, though, she was definitely going to do the bestest job ever. She would listen to all the meetings and listen to them in the best way possible. Forever.

Or so she was thinking, anyways.

"Um, what sort of contest, though?" Anh Sang said, feeling a little like maybe she had missed something in her internal pep rally. "Like a scavenger hunt? See how many people can find whatever place or thing and then they all take pictures of the stuff and bring them back? It seems like it would take a really long time if people had to visit the school and the city in the same day, though."

Morgan nodded and snapped her finger. "Thats perfect! A scavenger hunt is an excellent way for our students to explore the city and school grounds, and for them to retain their interest, im sure we can even come up with some decent prizes aswell."

She quickly jotted down all the details. "Are we all in agreement on the scavenger hunt?"

Anastasia hadn't had any specific kind of contest in mind, but something like a scavenger hunt fit perfectly. Morgan seemed to jump on the idea, which spurred her to expand on the idea.

"We could make it a long event. Assign people who sign up to teams, and give them the span of a week to get all the things. I'd suggest most - maybe even all - involve taking a picture of most of the group at the goal. That way it would require the group to get together to do it, rather than sending people all over the island. Ideally people would spread out to search, and then gather up to claim whatever the focus is. Something like that." She'd only participated in two scavenger hunts in her life, but the idea was sound enough. Obviously there would be a lot of details going into it. "I would suggest a long sign up period, and actively push new students to sign up. The idea shouldn't be to replace tours, but to augment them. Getting students more comfortable with the school and the island, and getting them to explore areas they wouldn't have otherwise."

She paused for a moment, realizing she'd rambled. "Does that all sound alright?"
