Alice was good. She jumped right into business much like Lenn did. She conducted herself better than Lenn anticipated which was a good start if she really was interested in hiring an able hand. It seemed like she conducted meetings like this on a regular basis. Guess she shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.

Then they dove right into intel. The target sounded like an interesting one. So he could stop technology…Did that mean her rifle? Well, she was sure that she had to be within range for things to shut down and even if her scope managed to stop working, she could still easily take the shot. She just liked taking in the details before pulling the trigger. The Hologram itself was impressive. Just that piece of technology alone must have cost more than her upgrades within one month alone. He seemed like an ordinary man. She took in all the details, the only notes taken were in her head.

The only downside to this was the fact that she worked alone. Suddenly having a partner threw a wrench into things. Just a little. As long as she was getting paid, she had little to no regards to her partner’s safety. Working with her was at their own risk. If they got caught or killed? That wasn’t her problem. Surely this guy had to be competent enough to be partnered with her. “No thank you,” she politely declined. Tea wasn’t her thing. Tea was for weak pompous rich people. She’d take a cup of joe over tea any day of the week. Straight black, no sugar; almost like how she conducted her business, Straight to the point, no bullshit.

Then her ‘partner’ walked in and already she felt a twinge of disgust. He carried himself like an asshole who was far into himself than he should be. He was an insufferable bastard and the man knew it. His arrogance was through the roof and she bet that if it had a physical form, it’d break right through layers of concrete and dirt and probably would be taller than the skyscraper they hid under. Even the ridiculous amount of rings…Jesus Christ, she’d probably get burned if she took that handshake. It was best that she watched her back around this man. If this man had the opportunity to get all the credit for the kill, he’d try to snuff her out as quickly as possible…Or worse; attempt to hit on her.

Her eyes narrowed at his hand and her cold gaze shot up towards his arrogant face. Her arms were still crossed under her chest. He wasn’t going to be getting any voluntary handshakes anytime soon. He best just sit down so they could get this briefing over with. …No?...There wasn’t a hint of a smile on her face from his flashy entrance. Fine, if it makes ‘em sit down… She begrudgingly shook his hand with a strong grip. One was to make a good impression was to always offer a bone-crushing handshake!

While Lenna was trying her best to not show her disdain for Andre, Alice was a girl who had learned how to pick up on such subtle nuances of interaction as Lenna's underlying dislike for the flamboyance and ego of her agent. Of course, Alice knew just how dangerous Joshua was...and despite any personal qualms the young blond would make sure both of her minions knew that they would have to stick togther on this.

As Andre shook hands with Lenna, Alice let out a deep sigh. "I can already see you two are off to a lovely start." The blond girl said in a tone laced with sarcasam. "Now, don't worry you two. You only have to put up with each other once. However, you both will be seeing a lot of me in the future." Alice said before taking another sip of tea. It was fitting for Lenna to think of tea as the drink of "pompous rich people" because that lable was about as close as you could get to young miss Mordrake. While she was nowhere near as overtly prideful as Andre, her arrogance was a much more subtle, deeply ingrained thing. Everything she did because she believed she was entitled to do it. Worlds destroyed because she was simply bored. Resources plundered because she deserved them.

Indeed, miss Mordrake saw everything as a toy or a tool to her, including Lenna and Andre, and while she could spot the negative chemistry a mile away she honestly didn't care if they didn't work together well because the two of them where expendable. Every SPECTER agent was. Heck, the only reason Alice herself was even in attendance at this meeting was so she would have an excuse to get out of that stuffy dorm the school made her stay in. Lenna, Andre....you both don't realize...you are nothing to me. If the two of you where to die...I'd have you replaced in short order. Everybody is but a tool or a toy to be used for my pleasure! Alice thought to herself as she sipped her tea.

"You see, Lenna...I didn't bring you all the way here for one single mission. While this mission is of the utmost importance, I am hiring you for continued service...indefinitely. You are free to quit at any time should you find another job you wish to take, but you won't find an employer more lucrative then me, I can assure you that." Alice continued to Lenna.Heh...that's right...I hold all the money....and once Lenna hears my offer...she won't be able to refuse Alice thought. "You see, I do not have a -set rate- I will pay you. Instead, you will be payed for on a mission by mission basis, and you can name your price for each mission....you can rest assured I can match almost any offers you can make..though I may try to haggle you down a bit if I feel your asking for an unreasonable amount. Oh...and as for your room and board on the Island while you work for me, consider it paid for." Alice continued on to Lenna.

Andre went to return her handshake. Wait, that wasn't a handshake that was a damn vice! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! Don't show pain! There we go... Andre hoped he was able to maintain his composure as she squeezed his hand. He didn't return the hostile sentiments but he kept his own hand firm, if only to try and resist the attempt to hurt him. If he had kept himself together well enough there, Miss Mordrake's words certainly tried him even harder. THAT Kind of a deal? Andre was pretty damn well paid but that was insane! She must be a pretty big deal to get something like that thrown her way...

"So what's the mission, Ma'am?"

Andre knew to keep his words soft and sweet when dealing with his employer. He had a cushy live and he wanted to keep it cushy and living. He wouldn't have been called in here if there wasn't a job for him, and if they thought he'd need a partner, especially one better paid than him, its probably something pretty important. C'mon, something that needs more than Andre? That's something he'd need to disprove. Even with his jimmies partially rustled he managed to maintain his swag, taking a seat at the table and giving one of his 'everyone loves me' cocky nods to Calloway as well.

Calloway

Calloway met Wakeman's nod with a cool, blank stare. It wasn't threatening or even vaguely disapproving, just totally indifferent. Miss Mordrake, by any chance, are you hoping that these two will kill each other? The doctor knew that she would be able to hear it. Because I think it might take a little more incentive on her part. Greaves looking as unimpressed as Calloway felt about the man's entrance made the doctor approve of her slightly more than most other people.

Not that it meant much. And for all Calloway knew, maybe the plan really did involve their deaths. There was just no telling with Miss Mordrake's moods, which meant that few things were ever boring. A plus in Calloway's eyes, and that particular scenario would be mildly amusing. If it really was what was going on, then the doctor desperately hoped that Greaves would at least ruin Wakeman before she went out. Because if she didn't, Calloway might be tempted to fabricate an accident. It would be so disappointing if Miss Mordrake didn't approve but surely there would be other even more expendable fools about. Although the doctor wasn't going to go out of the way to find them.

Oh, yes, and Project K-502 was a failure. My apologies; the help was abysmal. Two of the newer ones fumbled too much. They most likely died immediately. The other ones, I couldn't say for certain. I suppose we could always check the recordings and see.

Oh, that was how she normally was with everyone. She was just a tad bit nicer to Alice because she was the one who signed the check. It was hard not to smirk when Wakeman tried to hide his discomfort. It wasn’t a big deal; she was only crushing the life out of the bones in his lewd hand—Oh yeaaah he had rings on. That must have doubled his discomfort. Good! Bloody bastard wears as much rings as a prima-fuckin-donna—he deserved to have his hand ripped off. Luckily for him, she was in a good mood so he got to keep his hand. Besides, it was going to be troublesome to have to keep watch over him during the mission if she did that.

Anyway, she let him get to his seat and all attention was on Alice now. A brow furrowed in question. Really? Any set amount? This was something new considering majority of her clients tried to haggle with her asking price. It would have probably made most wet themselves—it must have put Wakeman’s panties into a bunch. Regardless, it was something very useful to keep in mind. She nodded, ” Oy’ understand and thank you for taking my skills into consideration. You will not be disappointed.” She was going to make sure that she was worth the investment.

That was all she really needed to say. She patiently waited for further intel. If she needed to be hired and paid whatever lump sum of money, this target had to be dangerous. There had to be more about his place of residence, any factions he might be possibly in that target Specter…She wanted to know every detail about this man and the reasons why he needed to be put under her scope. Of course after this mission briefing, she planned on scoping out this person as much as possible to learn his routines and basically just who this Joshua was.

Alice Mordrake

Catching Calloway's thoughts, Alice had to smother a giggle. It was just so nice to have a like minded person around. Fortunately for Lenn and Andre, however, Alice actually did need them for something. Well, not the two of them specifically but as replaceable as they were, the one thing that they had in their favor was that they were new. Both Alice the child and Alice the tyrant could agree that this was a fact worth following up on.

Maybe next time, she told the doctor silently. Out loud, the girl answered Andre's question with a bright smile. "Oh, just a simple assassination. Nothing that should be too out of your league. Seeing as you're going to be Lenn, I assume that the two of you together shouldn't have any problems taking out the target." Continuing on with the telepathic conversation, she said, Oh, don't worry about the project. I received notice of the failure just shortly before you arrived. No worries, we'll work around it.

She directed everybody's attention back to the hologram of that man. "As I told Lenn, this man here is Joshua Langford. He owns a shop in the Underground called The Antoinette and he's an awful, terrible abomination who shouldn't exist. In addition to having control over dark matter, he also is immune to mental powers and is a walking techbane zone." Alice paused for a moment before scowling darkly. "I don't care how you kill him. The messier the better. By the time you're done with him, I don't want there to be any evidence of his existence. Burn the place down if you need to, I don't care."

Calloway, you're in charge of reorganizing the forty-fourth. Take what you need, it's not like we lack for much around here. If you think anybody's too stupid to stay on, kick them off. If only it were so easy to get rid of Joshua Langford. Alice pouted for a moment. "I'll be taking questions now, if you have any."

"Something that easy, huh? Well, should be no problem. C'mon then, Miss Lenn, we got an abomination to erase."

Andre was back on his feet rather quickly, still remarkably full of himself despite a rough handshake and a rough reception. He had a job and he was gunna do it. That's why he was paid the big bucks. Ego stroking will come after the mission was done. For now, though, he had a job to do and, as far as the great Andre Wakeman was concerned, some dead weight to tag along for it. All things considered it could be worse... I mean, he might have had two people tagging along with him.

With almost a flamboyant flourish, Andre was heading for the door with a spring in his step. The jingle of chains once more quite audible as he was heading out to find this Joshua Langford and introduce him to a rather bloody and unpleasant demise. It wouldn't be pretty, it wouldn't be pleasant, and it certainly wouldn't be something to brag about in good taste. However Andre would probably do it and brag to all hell about it because not enough people around here appreciated him.

Calloway

Perhaps you are giving that one too much credit, Calloway replied to Miss Mordrake silently with a slightly disbelieving glance at Wakeman's back. Because, really, that reaction was almost impressive. The agent hadn't even asked where his target could be found before storming off. Are you certain that you wouldn't care for a humorous yet mostly believable accident to occur to him?

"Greaves." The doctor turned to the woman now, choosing to use a mid range voice, one of those that could be mistaken for belonging to either gender. The sound of it bordered on being pleasant. "I am going to assume that you are the brains of this duo. Kindly do not prove me wrong." Meaning that Calloway expected her to do the smart thing and ask questions. And also meaning that she was expected to do the rational thing and keep Wakeman out of trouble. Even if that meant killing him.

In any case, I'll take Auctor, Itzala, Aklund, Montague, Reis and Mercer if that is acceptable to you. It was better to keep the off worlders together, Calloway thought. It helped that those six had already been part of their own organization back in their home world. At least the doctor knew for sure that they weren't liable to kill snap and kill each other in the foreseeable future.

She let her new…’partner’ take his leave, not bothering to give the man a second glance as he walked away. Yes, she heard the subtle chime of chains. Where that came from, she wasn’t sure but she knew she’d eventually find out about it later on. There were a lot of things to do now in order to prep for the job. First, she had to find the place and secondly, she had to work out his schedule and observe him on a near daily basis. It was good to know how your target functioned after all. It was vital to the success of any job simply because it cut out any unexpected variables. She’d know what time Joshua slept, what time he got up, when he walked out the door—even with the little things and habits he had. Creepy as it sounded, she was just doing her job and making sure it was done right. Hopefully Wakeman had the same kind of method as she did or else he was going to have a problem.

She nodded to Dr. Calloway, noting the sudden change of tone. Wait…Did the doctor even speak at all? What was—No. It didn’t even matter. It seemed she got some sort of respect from the scientist. They seemed to like her better than Wakeman anyway. Maybe the doctor got the same impression as Lenn did when they first met. ”Oy’ll be takin’ m’leave,” She excused herself and rose from her seat, following the doctor to take her own leave.

It was time to get to work.

So it had finally begun. Finally...she would be rid of that terrible man in the underground. Of course, it would be a while before the actual assassination happened. Her agents needed to gather information, after all, and she also had her new roommate investigating Joshua as well. As soon as her minions laughed, Alice could not help but giggle to herself, bouncing her plush bunny up and down on her lap. "Soon, soon that man is going to die!" Alice exclaimed with a beeming smile on her face, she giggled to herself a bit as images of Joshua's dismembered corpse flashed through her mind. Soon, however, the giggeling morphed into something darker. Letting out a side of herself that is rarely loosed, she broke into outright deranged childish laughter before containg realizing what she had slipped into.

Immediately containing herself, she took a deep breath and stared down at her plush bunny doll with a twisted grin on her face. "Joshua isn't the only one that's going to die. You know that my little friend, don't you?" She asked the doll. "Of course, of course, your the one who suggested it to me, right? Get that fox out of the way....after all...she may be reckless and utterly pathetic now, but given time..she could become something more..." Alice continued to say to her stuffed bunny. "Yes...we should kill her before she becomes a threat...but we have to keep our hands clean. We have an image to maintain!" Alice exclaimed to her bunny doll. Bolting from her seat she began to walk over to the holo-screen, her face still wearing a diabolical grin. "I think it's time we call in one of our allies, no? I'm sure our lovely little princess is dying to get her hands dirty!" Alice said, letting out a giggle of excitement at the prospects of seeing another enemy offed.

As she finally got to the holo-screne she typed in a bunch of commands a Yata-unit appeared before her. "Now my little pet, I want you to go contact Aurellie for me, her locator's ID is 150606162. Now be off, Mr. March Hare and I have a lot of planning to do!" Alice said to her Yata unit, motioning to her stuffed bunny upon mentioning it's name. With those words the robotic crow flew through a rip in space-time that immediately closed after it left. Alice, alone in her dark chamber, put another pot of tea on to brew and sat down with her stuffed bunny.

"So...shall we continue to talk about Project Wonderland Mr. March Hare?" Alice asked her stuffed bunny with a happy smile, letting out a deranged giggle as her mind raced with new thoughts. All in time.... Alice thought to herself. ...All in time......
