Appearance Description : Solaris has grey eyes and wavy platinum blond hair that falls to his shoulders. He is very tall and stands at six feet and ten inches in height. He has sharp facial features and an average build. He burns easily in the sun and often wears some kind of hat -often a conical rice patty one- and lots of sunscreen.
Solaris usually dresses in lighter colors and prefers not to look too formal. He favors beige colored trousers and monochrome cardigans, usually in a pale viridian, and wears them over plain white button up shirts.
Personality Description : Solaris has a strong tendency to avoid any people or situations that he feels like he can't deal with. Which is pretty much all of them, unless somebody entrusts him in a position of authority. At that point, he can function decently if he has the skills for whatever job he has been given. He's a coward at heart and often runs away instead of dealing with problems, leaving other people to clean up his messes for him. If confronted about an issue that he cannot run away from, he will try and barter his way out. If the argument against him is emotional in any way, however, he will give into demands. Unless whatever it is happens immediately, though, he will keep trying to run away and will have to be persuaded to continue playing nice.
Solaris is actually kind of an okay guy, if only he'd stop brushing off other people. He doesn't like getting too attached to people and doesn't like involving him in other people's problems. It's just too messy for him. All he wants is a simple, easy life. And if he could give up his powers and get one of those for himself, he would probably jump at the opportunity. Not having attended the Academy, he doesn't always take too well to some of the more unusual or obvious powers out there. He does try to be somewhat polite in those situations but the point is that he is not diplomatic at all.
Power : Reluctant Awakening - Solaris is an Awakened mage, although he would really rather not be since there clearly is nothing good that can come out of this. Regardless, his sphere is Matter. This means that he is capable of transmuting physical material. However, he has never done anything major with this ability and thus does not have a strong grasp of it. At the moment, he can transmute no more than a few ounces of material at a time, which is a moderately lengthy process for him. The material that he can transmute is restricted to hard solids for now.

Biography : Solaris had a blandly average life in a blandly average neighborhood with blandly average parents who loved him on matter of principle and were friendly enough with each other. He was the quiet child growing up and came to be bullied almost solely because his habit of running away from things drew attention and amused some of the other children when they were bored. Growing up, he was always tall but once he reached fourth grade, that was when it really became a problem. Some people thought that because of his height, he might be a sports prodigy and his standing in his peers' eyes definitely did not improve when he proved those expectations to be false. As time went on, he became more and more of a target because he tried so hard to simply disappear despite constantly being the most obvious person in any room.
Life pretty much consisted of the same routine up until university, when Solaris accidentally used his powers for the first time. It was just a small incident -he turned a sheet of paper into a sheet of mica- but it scared him so badly that he went ahead and called up a priest. Luckily for him, the priest knew about the existence of magic, even if he couldn't help him. The very next day, Solaris received a letter from Starlight Academy. Which he promptly ignored in favor of his studies, causing more letters to be sent continuously until he finally wrote a reply saying that he was staying in the school he was already at.
Then life went snapped back to normal and Solaris went on with his usual routine. He graduated with a degree in English literature and almost immediately went on the hunt for work. However, the search didn't go too well and eventually, out of desperation, he checked back with Starlight Academy and found that there was a decisive lack of English teachers. That was enough for him and shortly afterwards, he finally went to Manta Carlos.
Additional Information : Solaris and Wong Ha Jung knew each other before being employed at the Academy. They graduated from the same university, although Solaris was two years ahead. They're not quite friends and are more of acquaintances more than anything else.
