"Let's see..," Liliana said as she considered something, trying to see what was wrong. Then she went to stand behind Lucianne, "Try it this way," she said as she gently corrected her stance, and the height of the bow height just a little bit.

"No, not slower..." Liliana remarked shaking her head, "Just different, I think..." she said as she helped Lucianne. "I took to the bow right away but I was too eager, too impatient, I'd not draw my string back far enough, or I'd release my arrow too soon." she told her.

"Just pull back enough that the arrow sits comfortably between the string and the bow with a bit of tension," she said, knowing that this was kind of intuitive too. The more you shot, the more you got the feeling for what was right.

"Too soon is not taking time to aim... It's a fast shot that is sloppy," Liliana said. "It's when the arrow goes flying and misses the mark by a mile".

"Actually, I do..." Liliana said as she moved forward toward Lucianne, "See here, this is for aiming..." she pointed out a little ring at eye level that you could squint through to take aim. "But only composite bows have it, so when you use a normal bow, it's kind of different when taking aim."

"Then it's more intuitive, but a good way is to do this," here she created a bow construct out of thin air. Then she took an arrow and pulled back until the string was touching her nose, "Now, you look down the length of the bow and aim, sometimes your shots, the first ones might be a tad off and you may have to adjust your aim a bit," she said letting an arrow fly, watching as it hit the center.

Lucianne Lovejoy

After a moment of thought, Lucianne put the arrow by her feet. She wouldn't want to hurt anybody by accident, after all, and it seemed like a disaster waiting to happen if she were to practice shooting right off the bat with it. She copied Liliana's movements, drawing the string until it was at her nose and releasing it. "So that's the right amount of force, right? When should I actually try with the arrow?"

(Sorry Emy! I wasn't notified and saw this in my watched threads...)

"Yes, I think you've got it," Liliana nodded agreeably as she watched Lucianne mimic her movements and draw back the string.

"You should try shooting now. Although, maybe move up a bit more, closer to the target, maybe four, five feet... and try to hit the target if you can..." she told her friend, "As you get more comfortable and sure of yourself, you can always move back a few feet." she explained.

Lucianne Lovejoy

Carefully retrieving her arrow, Lucianne moved a few paces forward as Liliana had instructed. She notched it, drawing the string back to her nose and trying to aim best she could. There was something in the back of her mind going on about the curvature of the Earth and how to account for that but she wasn't sure if it applied to just larger ballistics or everything having to do with the subject.

She released the string. Immediately, her arrow went into the ground right before the target. Lucianne blinked. "Sorry! I think I did that wrong!"
