My name is Rosalina Quartz, and I am an elementary school teacher at Starlight Academy. I am a meta-human. I was born to a family of law enforcement in Chicago, Illnois, USA. Many of my relatives are lawyers, cops, forensic scientists, and other law enforcement positions.
My father was a cop; my mother was a detective. They met when they worked on a case together and fell in love. They dated for three years and got married in a cathedral.
Shortly after their marriage, I was born. I am an only child. Because my father wished to ensure my safety, he had me learn how to wield guns and knifes. I also took self defense courses to ensure that even when I had no weapon that I would make it out of a situation safe.
I discovered my powers when I was attacked one day while heading home from school. I was walking by myself when a man grabbed me. He dragged me in an alleyway and attempted to rape me. I utilized one of my self defense techniques to force him off me. Except that it did not go as planned. It worked a little too well. He was sent barreling through a brick wall. Out of fear, I bolted away from the vicinity and sprinted the rest of the way home.
I shared with my parents what happened, and they accepted my powers as a gift from a higher power. However, they were concerned about me walking among normal people. It grew harder to hide the fact that I had super strength. I could lift cars with ease. It seems my body also had much more endurance than even the best professional athletes. That was when the letter arrived.
The letter led me to Manta Carlos Island. I entered into Starlight Academy and attended school there from eighth grade until college. During that time, I would visit my family in Chicago during the long breaks of the school yer. I acquired a teaching degree because I was interested in teaching a younger generation. I wanted kids to know that they were not alone, and that they were special no matter what their background was. I wanted to help them adapt to their new environment and also learn various subjects.
I have been teaching for three years now, and I am happy with my career choice. I have made friends with various faculty members. The only thing that I am missing from my life is a lover. Someday I wish to marry and have children. Until then, I will continue living my life and tackling each day with a positive attitude.
