Name: Ran Botan
Age: 16
Birthday: April 17th
Gender: Female
Species: Half-Mage, Half-Dragon
Class: High School
Grade: 9th
College Major: No....

Appearance Description:

Ran is tiny. She only stands at 4'11", and she's quite unhappy about it. She's so lightweight and skinny many people could just easily pick her up. Her cup size is A, and she is very slender. Poor girl looks like she could be snapped in half by a gentle breeze. Of course, being half-dragon, that's actually not the case. She's sturdier than she looks, you know! If only she was able to carry around more than fifty pounds though. That'd be swell. Her skin is pale in coloration. Her hair is a blue lavender and reaches an inch past her butt. Her eyes are purplish black. She gains creepy glowing pupils when she's about to change forms and also when angered. She has two dragon horns on the side of her head that are curved downward in a fashion similar to pigtails. She does have human ears, but they're hidden behind her hair. When trying to hide the horns, she puts her hair into twin ponytails on either side of the head.

Ran has a very girly, conservative style. While not afraid to show skin, she does not show a lot of it. You only really get to see her arms and maybe her legs if you're lucky. Short for her is a bit above the knee. She does not wear tops with deep-plunging necklines. Her color choices tend to be bright and vibrant. She enjoys pastels and focuses on the lighter shades of colors rather than darker shades. She doesn't really have a preference for skirts or shorts. She tends to overdo it in the accessories department, wearing multiple necklaces and bracelets at once. The jewelry tends to have a homemade feel with mostly beads and the occasional jewel. She does not have her ears pierced, so she has to resort to clip-ons should she wear earrings.

Her dragon form is a long, thin serpent dragon the size of a coach bus. The scales are lavender like her hair but turn lighter shades at certain points. They're smooth to the touch and very hard. Her eyes are purple with the odd glowing pupil mentioned earlier. The mane that goes down her head and spine is white with a very slight blue hue. The tip of her tail matches the color of the mane. She has two arms but no legs. She's able to fly just fine despite not having wings like a European dragon. She simply slithers through the air.

Personality Description: It'd be fair to say that Ran's a tad too hyper. She's all ready to get in people's faces and talk a lot. Having been fairly isolated most of her life, she makes up for her social awkwardness and lack of knowledge by injecting way too much energy. She even pitches her voice a bit higher than it normally is. She's pretty clueless and prone to misunderstand a lot of things. She's quite innocent-minded since her parents have neglected to give her the rundown of...certain subjects. (Dad's fully opted out; Mom's pretty shy about it...) This girl gets involved in everyone' business and picks up lots of gossip for the sake of both fitting in and also so she can learn stuff. It can be hard for her to decipher what's rumor and what's truth though. She's pretty bleh at school, only doing well in writing composition. In every other subject she barely passes. Because she's interested in just about everything, it can be hard for her to focus her attention. It's especially bad if she's placed around shiny objects. Interestingly enough though, she does not hoard or take shiny objects. She instead likes to hoard bunnies. Um, bunny plushies, not the real animal. Daddy said no to real bunnies and threatened to eat them.

Powers: Ran has the incredibly useful talent of power nullification. She can temporarily nullify people's active powers to an extent. In human form, she channels this via paper talismans. Those who get a paper talisman attached to them have their powers weakened but not fully nullified. It takes seven on the body to render someone to their weakest level. This lasts for ten minutes. Of course, the talismans are not indestructible. It's possible to overcharge the seals by redirecting one's energy flow into them; this would break the effect completely. Or....you could just take the seal off. It has the stickiness of a bandaid, but you can totally rip it off to stop the effect. However, that doesn't destroy the effect so it's possible for seals that are ripped off to be stuck back onto someone.

Ran's dragon form has a more reliable source of power nullification via her breath attack. She opens her mouth and blows out what looks like a bunch of purple dust particles. Getting hit full-on by this breath attack causes full nullification of active powers for five minutes. The target is then granted twelve hour immunity afterwards, meaning the breath attack can't be spammed. Seals are also ineffective against the target.

*Note: All abilities affect active powers such as spellcasting, psychic blasts, pyrokinesis, etc. This does not affect passives (I.E. Functional Immortality) and species abilities (I.E. Merperson's swimming and underwater breathing).

Species Abilities: Ran can change into a dragon and will likely live a long life so long as somebody doesn't decide to kill her. She has good endurance (Able to take more hits than the average being) but poor strength (She doesn't lift), making up for it by being a fast flier. She has a max flight speed of 130 mph/209 km/h.

Biography: For thousands of years, one light dragon wandered the Earth. He experienced many things in his long life. He fought numerous battles and had a number of children by different women. He always outlived his partners and would move on with his life after his kids grew up. This did hurt him to a degree, but he knew that's how life worked; he was a dragon after all. Dragons lived for many years. He watched humanity grow and make something of themselves. He also watched as mythical beasts like him were driven away from lands populated by humans and forced to live in hiding. Not wanting to hide away in the shadows, he chose to continue exploring and fly with the greatest stealth possible so that he would enjoy freedom without terrorizing the humans. What helped was having a human form he could change to when needed.

However, he eventually grew tired of having no home and decided it was time to settle down. He was to find a new mate. It was within the countryside of Japan where he found a beautiful shrine maiden. She was a wonderful singer; it was her singing as she swept the shrine that led him to her. Unable to resist her charm, the elder dragon struck up a conversation with her. She was a nineteen-year-old maiden with hidden magical powers. She could nullify the powers of others; her nullification magic protected the shrine from some of the hostile and/or mischievous youkai that tried to attack it. She could not share with anyone else her true status as a mage; he was the only one she shared this secret with. The two conversed regularly at the shrine. The woman began to prepare chai tea for both of them, and they would drink and chatter with one another.

Love emerged from their continued interactions, and the maiden found she was disinterested in keeping her vow of purity. Now that she found her lover, she wanted to settle down with him and bear children. Breaking away from the shrine, the two ran off together and enjoyed dates with one another. They also enjoyed each other's embrace. They married and had a small wedding during cherry blossom season. The dragon took on his bride's last name. It didn't matter to either of them that their age gaps were so large; they cared for one another, and that's all that mattered. The dragon was the type to hoard riches and treasures, so he was wealthy enough to take care of himself and his new wife. However, they were not foolish enough to indulge in extravagant lifestyles; they both preferred living in a simple little house on the countryside. Soon they attempted to bear a child. They eventually gave birth to a daughter.

When little Ran was born, both parents felt a great amount of joy seeing their little girl. They adored her and took care of her. Unfortunately, she had two horns on the side of her head. Because of this, she was forced to hide them and remain relatively isolated from others. They could not afford to put their child's life in jeopardy. She was homeschooled with a pre-approved program. The girl was not book smart and struggled with a bunch of subjects. It took time and patience for her to understand the material she had to learn. Still, she tried her best and would eventually pass her subjects. It seemed that math baffled her the most; she was behind a grade level in math for a while and took time to catch up. The father also taught the girl self defense and combat basics. He wanted his little girl to be safe in the event that neither of them were around.

It was the father that eventually decided that they had done enough hiding. He talked to his wife about moving to the island known as Manta Carlos. He knew very little about it but heard that a number of the dragon clans had moved there recently. Figuring that this would be a good place to further raise their child and also allow her to learn more about her heritage, he proposed it to his wife. While the wife was somewhat worried about this, she agreed that it would be better to live there than where they were at the moment. So the three moved to Manta Carlos, and for the first time Ran had full freedom to run around and show off her horns. The opportunity excited her greatly.

Additional Information: She knows Japanese, English, and Draconic. She's prone to accidentally mix up words in English.
