Evander looked down at the board, but didn't move any pieces. Hmmm.... Well, that certainly threw a wrench in the machine. Perhaps I should rethink this strategy... he mused, before picking up the queen, and moving it from its position at H5 to a new position at D5.

"Two chemistry courses... I see..." the gryphon sighed. He was used to situations like this, and he hadn't even been a teaching assistant very long; a student would take two science classes on top of whatever they were majoring in, and let one, or both of the science classes as well as some of their other subjects slip. "Well, if you can't find me up at the academy, I will be more than happy to give you my apartment number if you need me."

Oh no, that would not do at all, Adrian thought in alarm towards Evander's initial offer. It was not that she was adverse to the idea in the least but if she were to seek him out at school, then others would see it. And then the news might make its way back to her sister. In any case, the two of them were far too closely in contact outside of class for her to wander off on her own like that. Even if Aurélie was not physically present, she would always be on the phone with her anyways, unless Adrian had made some sort of arrangement earlier to use one of the practice rooms. No, the Academy was an awful place for the dark haired young lady to try and accomplish anything discreetly.

"Perhaps your apartment would be better," Adrian suggested as she made her move : pawn from C7 to C5. "If that is acceptable with you. In general, I am not very fond of being seen in public."

Although, I wonder, the aristocrat thought. Surely I could go to another person for help? Certainly, it would be leagues safer for everybody, especially Evander. It was very selfish of her to even consider doing this, when she knew full well that there were alternatives. Yet her curiosity had gotten the best of her in this regard.

Selfishness, Adrian cursed herself silently. But that did not stop her from holding her tongue from trying to take back what she had said already. Curiosity, the main issue. Pride, the minor.

Evander raised an eyebrow at the girl's statement. What girl doesn't like being seen in public?! he thought, but quickly dispelled the musing from his mind. He didn't want to be stereotyping, especially in the middle of a conversation.

"Well, I don't have any problems with that. Just make sure you knock, because my doorbell doesn't work" the gryphon said, chuckling as he made his move, pawn from A2 to A4. "Now then, do you have a piece of paper?"

Adrian nodded a little to herself in relief, before trying to find something that the gryphon could write on. Or with. She was tempted to give him her phone to put his information on instead but that might very well be a mistake. The dark haired young lady did not think that her sister went so far as to look through her personal belongings without announcing it. That seemed like it would be quite improper.

As much as associating with people that my family disapproves of? she wondered before hurrying off of the subject. What Adrian was doing then was probably worse than what she only imagined her sister to possibly be doing.

"My apologies, will this do?" She asked, handing over a napkin. "I do not have anything to write with either."

Then quickly, the aristocrat turned her attention back to the chessboard and moved her knight from B8 to A6.

Evander nodded slightly, gently taking the napkin and setting to the side for the moment. Well, well... You just lost your knight, Miss... he thought with a slight grin, gently picking up his bishop at f1 and moving it slowly over to a6, taking her knight and setting it to the side. Granted, the gryphon left his bishop in danger of being taken by a pathetic pawn, but he could make up the loss rather easily, in his mind.

Looking up at his opponent, he gave her an odd look with his deep red eyes. It wasn't normal for the gryphon to ask such a question, but he simply felt it was a better alternative to writing in blood.

"Would you simply like me to tell you my apartment number? If it seems too hard to remember, you could always put on your cellphone," he asked, his words finding a hesitant air around them. Under normal circumstances, he would have just asked a waitress for a pen, but something just didn't feel right about writing it down...

The dark haired young lady frowned as her knight was captured, really quite unhappy with herself for having lost it. She rather liked her knights and it bothered her that it was taken so quickly. Far too distracted today, she thought herself with a frown. Between thinking of ways to get around the notice of both her sister as well as Alice Mordrake, her focus on other subjects was not particularly good.

Her frown only deepened on Evander suggested putting his information on her phone. "I suppose I could," Adrian said, a little reluctantly as she took his bishop with a pawn. Maybe it would be better to have that information electronically anyways? Her sister was not very well versed in technology. Any information erased there might as well be lost for all of eternity. In this regard, it was far easier to get rid of than physical evidence. Or is that simply wistful thinking?

She contemplated it for a few more moments before taking out her phone.

"My apartment number is 825 in the South Hills complex, and if I need to repeat that, just ask," Evander said while looking between his opponent and the board. His bishop was gone, just like he thought. But opportunities are abundant...

Without saying anything else, he moved his queen from d5 to a8, taking out Adrian's rook. It wasn't quite a fair trade, a bishop for a rook, but the gryphon felt he would eventually make up the loss. Still, he had his queen in an unfavorable position... But that could be rectified in a few turns.

She put the information into her phone. 825, South Hills Complex. Its location wasn't the best on the island but it certainly wasn't the worst either. Far from it, actually. From what Adrian had gathered, it was a rather middle class sort of place, a fact that she found... charming, actually.

"Thank you, I have it," she said, putting her phone away again. Worry fluttered across her mind but she forced herself not to think of it too much. Certainly, she had better get it under control by the time that she returned to her sister, otherwise everything would fall apart immediately.

After looking at the board for a while, she moved her queen from D8 to C7.

"Ah, good. I don't have to repeat myself," said the gryphon, who looked down at the board. I can't do anything with my queen right now... he mused, tapping one talon on he table while he thought. Taking his rook on a1, he lazily scooted it forward a couple spaces to a3. A useless move at this point, but he couldn't really do anything else.

She dipped her head a little at Evander's words. "Should we make an appointment, then? What times are you free for?" she said, moving her king one square over. It was a conservative move, Adrian thought, and not at all the one she had originally come to mind. The more reckless action she had considered was to use her own queen in order to block the other.

In truth, she liked games more without the queens. It felt cleaner in a way, removing those two pieces that she felt were a nuisance. Yet even considering to do so felt vaguely like some kind of betrayal, for reasons that the aristocrat could not quite name.
