[BCOLOR=transparent]Name: [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]Maxim Moriglioni[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Age: [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]22[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Birthday: [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]2 April[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Gender: [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]Male[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Class:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] College[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Grade:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Sophomore[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]College Major[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]: Linguistics, with a focus on Arts & Letters[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Appearance Description:[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Maxim, for the most part, is fairly average. 180cm, roughly 63 kg, blonde hair, fair skinned, and a bony build, Maxim isn't a lot to shake a stick at. His pupils have engorged the rest of his eyes, causing the current black that they are. This has no detrimental effects to Maxim, for some unknown reason. Volcanic ash forms on exposed skin in lightly symmetrical patterns as a result to direct contact to the air around him, and more becomes prevalent or forms distinct patterns during certain rituals. Otherwise, his skin is blemishless, even described as buttery. It should be noted that said description causes him notable distress. When not wearing the school uniform, he wears a lot of grays, yellows, and reds, an exception being when the winter hits, in which leathers make up most of his wardrobe. A thick pair of circular sunglasses are usually donned, to keep people from overreacting about his eyes. His voice is raspy and lightly layered, due to the possession, but only enough to sound as if one or two other people were talking.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Personality Description:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Currently, he is rather distressed about his current predicaments, the whole accidental possession thing tends to do that. Other than that, Maxim is a bit of a bookie, seemingly always nose deep in his Grimoire, listening to and repeating various antiquated hymns, and otherwise doing things to try and translate bits and pieces of his infernal book.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]He himself is a very loud and boisterous personality, when he can detach himself from the Grimoire. He is a tad thick headed, and quick to make decisions. Once said decisions are made, more often than not, those opinions become borderline fact in his eyes. Prefers to be in charge of a group, if needed to participate in a group, but would opt to do any and all projects on his lonesome. Extremely high work ethic and if shown how to do a task, he has a tendency to be able to replicate the end results with near perfection. A bit of a teacher's pet. Sociaphobic towards people within his own age group with a margin of 2 years. Makes up for this fear with either crass comments or attempts at humor.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Powers:[/BCOLOR]

Scientia Potentia Est

[BCOLOR=transparent]Maxim has come into contact with a Grimoire of incredibly high caliber. Much to his misfortune, each entry is in a different language that has fallen out of use. Those that resemble other languages often have unidentifiable symbols at crucial parts during incantations or rituals, rendering them inert. This is a large reason as to why he is attending the academy, to use the resources available to translate more passages. The Grimoire itself deletes 3 entries at the end of each month to make space for 10 more entries at the end of a 10 week stretch. He has successfully translated and transcribed 4 entries, 2 of which can be used again.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Entry 119[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]- Replacement[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]The ritual, when performed, results in the wholesale replacement of all matter within 11 m of the center of the ritual. All people, objects, terrain, and even gas is apparently removed and replaced with matter of unknown origin.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Items Required:[/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Tin[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Potassium Nitrate[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Ice[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]A coil of copper wire[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Special Sauce [don't wanna ruin the surprise, do we?][/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Below is the translated text at the top of the passage, describing the ritual.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Should the need arise to flee, and you find yourself sapped of [unknown symbols], do not despair. The Dance of [unknown symbols] will guide you to safety. Be warned: even the [unknown symbols] may perform the Dance of [unknown symbols]. Do not let them into our home.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Maxim generally refrains from using this one too much, as it has extremely random results, which has nearly led to his death a number of times. The number is large, mind you.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]The other ritual is used for enchanting an object for, as believed by Maxim, to be used as a conductor of Roman occult magicks. The process involves dowsing the object in a pool of tears under direct moonlight and carving symbols onto the length of it using a silver knife. The only incantation that works thusofar is a variation of Entry 119, which replaces a single object or entity with a harmless object, in example, a 272kg grizzly bear being replaced with 271.8kg of turnips and an accumulation of 200g [about a handful] of ash. The incantation itself decreases the transfiguration rate and increases the ash production rate in increments of 50g with each successive completion. This is cummulative, and after a certain point, this variation of 119 will be unable to do anything besides gather ash. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Any incantations that can be used with an artifact prepared in this fashion requires extreme focus and direct contact with the object in question by the artifact.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Cineribus ad Cineres...[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]The other two rituals summoned a demon of unknown origin, name, or purpose, and bound him to Maxim's body. This is the cause of the ash and the pupil engorgement. The demon itself doesn't regularly talk to, through, or generally show any interest in Maxim. It just kinda resides there. The only hint towards anything about the demon is that, occasionally, in times of danger, existing flames can be manipulated into having the qualities of napalm, and manipulated by his hand with no side effects to speak of, besides a gathering of ash. It should be noted that the more ash that accumulates, the slower his movements become, and complete entombment or asphyxiation due to ash coating the lungs is possible.The one time the demon has communicated to him, it was through a Zippo. All that it did was hint at that the Grimoire would not delete the entry for either the unbinding of a demon or incantations that can be used through the binding of demons. So eventually, through rigorous study and trial and error, he could potentially wield mass occultly power, but at great sacrifice.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]The two remaining rituals were for summoning that specific demon, whose name and house of sin he was unable to translate, and the ritual for binding of most types of demons to his own person. However, only one demon could be bound to his person at any time.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]A side effect that he has noticed, but not managed to put the blame on the demon or not, is that normal people are naturally uncomfortable around him. This can range from the feeling of being watched to waves and waves of pins and needles. Those with any occult knowledge can tell that he is possessed, quite easily, and also tend to keep their distance.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Biography:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] Maxim was, before a garage sale three years ago, Max. He exhibited a lot of the same traits he does now, besides possession and the Grimoire. Having been studying occult rituals (all of which turned out to be frauds) and becoming close to fluent in Latin, he nearly wet himself upon finding the Grimoire. The owner at that time gladly sold it to him, packed up shop soon thereafter, and disappeared.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]And so, through a turn of events, Max eventually came into contact with his demon, bound him, and was immediately shunned by all those around him. Most of the time, the fear was irrational, even from his formerly highly supportive father, at which point he decided that anywhere would be better than there, so he stowed away on a boat and ended at in the islands, and promptly registered with the Academy, after a legal name change.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Additional Information:[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] -Identifiable languages the Grimoire has used include, but are not limited to, several dialects of cuneform, ogham, bulgar, sabine, venetic, volscian, paleo-sardinian, old kentish sign language, knaanic, navarro-aragonese, something resembling braille, and shepardi hebrew.[/BCOLOR]
