Name: "Dr. Beatnik's Wind-Up Mr. Gears!™" Honestly, he prefers just Gary.
Age: Physically 17. Forgot how old he actually is.
Birthday: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Gender: Male
Class: High School
Grade: Junior
Appearance Description: Currently, quite bloated, due to legitimate years spent underwater.

Well built, about 187cm tall, with a wingspan of 193cm. Weighs roughly 225 kilos. Skin is a dim grey, the water helped with that, but it is naturally a grey. Prefers dress clothes, maroons and blacks make up a lot of the wardrobe. Hand makes quite a bit of his own clothing, including the mechanic's jumpsuit he sat in for several decades. Hair is about at his shoulders, a deep black. An (apparently) paper-machê mask with a minimalist design is worn consistently, as Gary is very self conscious about his face. His eyes are visible through the mask, which are merely black pits with small brass orbs. If the mask is unavailable, he covers his face with his hands until he can make a new one.

His more... prominent features include the largest of several brass plates, which lays across his back. It contains the gears protruding from his spine and a turnkey directly behind where his heart should be. Underneath the turnkey, "Make three turns, no more, no less, or you might be cleaning up a very big mess!" is engraved. "Dr. Beatnik's Wind-Up Mr. Gears!™" is engraved in the corner of the brass plate. Two hatches lay here as well, each leading to separate storage spaces disproportionate to the rest of his body.

Other brass plates are for maintenance and modifications, there are six in total, one on each extremity, including one on his forehead. Normally, his clothes are tailored to accommodate for the gears.

His interior consists of an endoskeleton made from a brass-steel alloy suspended in black tinted hydraulic oil. This oil, which has a pH of 12.87, is broken down from matter ingested by Gary, and has a lot of the same properties that blood would, though it coagulates considerably faster than blood does. He has little to no internal organs to speak of, besides his brain, which has been lightly modified.

Personality Description:
-Incredibly stalwart. Essentially, if you turn that key, congrats! You have won a new shadow.
-Communicates a lot through body language, considering he covers his face so often. So lots of gesticulation.
-extremely self conscious, in regards to his face. Hides it well enough through backwards answers and misleading dialogues.
-enjoys making other people happy, especially if they have previously interacted.
-would be a lot more shy, however the whole key thing makes it hard to not talk to people after they resuscitate you.
-can be more than facetious at times, if provoked to such a reaction. Almost never resorts to violence (or at least not creative acts of violence.)
-can hold a grudge for years. Doesn't, at the moment, but he is entirely capable.
-doesn't entirely understand the full spectrum of emotions, but he emulates most to the best of his ability.
-cannot grasp the concept of time, considering the time he is conscious deviates from minutes to years.
-has a strange fascination with the moon. Can't remember why.

Powers:
Species Traits- Cyborg:
Improved physical abilities- can deadlift 1200 kilos without so much as breaking a sweat. Utilizing the hydraulic system in his left arm, he can easily output, at max, the same amount of force an average jackhammer could (~1,000N).

On the flipside, Gary is only functional when someone winds him up. Three half rotations results in about an hour of activity, before having to be wound up again. More winds results in tension on the endoskeleton's mainframe, proportional to the excess turns. He perceives the time inactive as simply skips in time. As a result of being fully mechanical, some part of him needs to be moving at all times he is active, or something slips and he shuts down. 72 hours after being shut down, something in the mechanism catches and he is reawakened. This only happens about four times before shutting down indefinitely. The shut down process can be adverted by a request including a distance, i.e. "Would you mind walking to my house?" at the end of the hour would result in immediate shut down, once reaching his destination.

Lastly, if someone starts a sentence with "Would you mind...", then Gary is forced to comply with whatever the task is, as long as it is deemed possible. Cannot bring people unicorns and the like, unless shown where to get one. This is not common knowledge, rather being one of his most well guarded secrets.

Self preservation enhancements-
Gary's original ability consisted of a system of heightened repair while he was unconscious. Considering he no longer has any major organs and is now only conscious when activated, the system goes into hyperdrive while he is deactivated, healing almost all nonlethal wounds within the hour. Fatal damage done by nonorganic means is absorbed and integrated to the rest of his body, upon complete regeneration, which depends on the severity of the "death." The original designs for the "Mr. Gears" model consisted of only the skeleton and patches. The hydraulics system was added as result of a mishap with several power tools in an auto body shop. Actual death would only be possible through incineration, dispersion of ashes, and his endoskeleton being melted down via non mechanical means. Or something to that effect. Quick, complete, and total destruction is all there is to it.

At this rate, his choices and the environments effect on him, would lead him down one of the following three paths:

Gary- in which he physically remains the same, develops a better understanding of human emotions, furthers his education, and is probably still following someone around like a sick puppy. He has embraced the new changes, the loss of his past, and his new existence, and, as a result, is more emotionally stable, and has become used to the waking cycles. Achieved through good decisions? Overall, a good path.

Mr. Gears- in which he fully embraces his powers, for the better. Carefully plans out upgrades, if any. Upgrades would have a positive effect towards some end game. Probably still heavily dependent on people. Power wise, he'd have integrated a lot of things to either protect his chances of reaching his end goal or to expand his knowledge base. Results in the end goal being reached. Whatever it may be. This scenario can be one of many things, depending on the end goal.

MK-2- in which he fully embraces his powers, for the worse. Several reckless decisions leads to the addition of more technology, which, in turn, adds to a growing egomaniacal streak, which develops into a god complex. He'd prefer to be called Mr. Gears, grow a lot more independent, and ultimately end up obliterated, some way or another. On the power side of things, he'd probably focus on upgrading his physical abilities even more, moving away from humanity itself. Needless to say, this would be a worst case scenario.

Biography: The good doctor Reuben Beatnik was a neurosurgeon with a knack for engineering. And also happened to be out of a job. Luck had it for him that ToyCo needed a creative consultant. So, as long as the creativity flowed, the money tended to do the same. And all was good for the doctor. Until late one night, the doctor had a surge of inspiration, and the lovechild of some corner store liquor and Billy Joel, Mr. Gears, was born. Or at least the design. The following morning, Reuben presented his idea to the board.

And doc was out of a job, again.

But this did not deter him from his newfound dream, improving upon his blueprints, and ending up with what he believed to be the solution to death. That was what he advertised on the blackmarket of Saigon, a process to keep your loved ones alive indefinitely! And so Gary's corpse was exhumed by his brother, and the first bout of procedure began, which ultimately led to the MK-1 Mr. Gears.

After reanimation, Reuben dropped off the face of the earth, and Gary tried to develop to his new life. His brother eventually abandoned him, sending him to a mechanic before leaving. And the mechanic saw him as an opportunity to make some quick cash, got excited, and accidentally pushed Gary into another mechanic, who accidentally "killed" him. Upon reanimation, the hydraulics system had been implemented, and the mechanic told him to "forget about it" and "take a long walk off a short pier."

And so he did. And ended up a couple dozen nautical miles away from the academy. At that point, he wiped the memory of everything that had happened up to that point following the reanimation, and shut down.

The year was 1982.

Additional Information: Currently, Gary will be found on the shoreline, being washed up as a result of The Kyros Tsunami, inactive, still dressed in his mechanic's jumpsuit.
