Elizabeth was glad to know he was organised enough for them to definitely have rooms. She looked at her key, room 127. Elizabeth looked at Soren, "well, we're here for the weekend and as nice as swimming sounds I am starving and we surely have time for that tomorrow?"
He kept smiling all the time, which surprised Elizabeth. She'd never seen someone so happy to be going somewhere with her. Not for a long time. It was all rather unusual to her.

Nova
"Oh, wow. My 'new things' consists of like, meeting people. That- that is pretty much it. I get my food from the cafeteria at school. Saves money, I guess. I am an orphan and I do not have a job so I have to be careful." That was the first time she had referred to herself as an orphan. The word sat in her mouth like a bad taste. She did not want to be seen as an orphaned Alien. She quickly regained her composure, saying, "The snow was okay, I guess?" Actually, the snow was not okay. It had broken the arm of her first friend on the island.

"A date?" She asked, the corner of her mouth turning upwards. She said in a sarcastically flustered voice, "But Ling! We have only just met! I am going to need some time to decide and... what will I wear?" she smiled to make sure he knew she was joking, before saying in a much more genuine voice, "I would love to go on a date with you." she hugged him for a few seconds, before turning back to Aswan and Roland.

"So it seems you two have a date as well? And please, do not tell me that is not a date, I come from a different planet and even I have heard of that one!" This was not said with any touch of malice at all and maybe it was the date, maybe it was the group situation but for the first time Nova really thought that Roland and her could have a good relationship.

Thanking Aswan for the Mars Bar piece, she immediately broke it in half again and handed that part to Ling. "That is cool. I wish I could do that." It occurred to her that she did not even know about Aswan's powers. Well, now she did, but not before.

"Oh. Um, okay, I mean, that is really cool. Like, I really like that. I think it is better than fire. Even though I would not mind if you had fire! You- I have never heard of one of those before." She stopped herself from saying anything more stupid when he revealed his scar.

Running her fingers gently along the line of the scar, she said nothing. All the more reason to avoid fire, she thought.

"Yes, this island has been a unique learning experience," he smiled, "hopefully I'll be able to experience much." Dating in particular was completely new.

He chuckled and took the chocolate gratefully, "thank you," he ate it and was surprised by how good it was, "I see why you like these so much."

He blinked a bit in shock at Nova's comment. Was it a date? He supposed it was. He turned to Aswan and gave her a slightly embarrassed smile, "I've never dated before, but if you're with it, we can try it."

He nodded, "I love meeting new people too," he gently squeezed her hand, "I'm an orphan too," his mother's death was still heavy on his heart. "I mean, my father is out there somewhere, but I've never met him," he still resented Shenlong for abandoning his mother. Letting go of her hand he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, "but hey, were here together."

He grinned and chuckled, hugging her back, "thank you." He kept his arm around her shoulders when the hug ended, "it'll be fun, I've never dated, but an evening with a cute girl has to be great."

"Yea lightning can be useful," it was a power he had gotten from both his parents "I also have a very limited control over weather, but so far I can only make to to where it doesn't affect me," that he definitely got from his father.

His shoulder tingled a bit as she ran her fingers over the burn, it had happened less than a month ago and was still sensitive. He smiled and took her hand gently in his, "it's ok though." He stepped a bit closer, "no worries, it's healing well." He grinned, "lets look to more positive things, like this cruise, our friends and our date."

He grinned, his turquoise eyes shimmering as always, "sounds good, I hear the resturaunt here is really good." Opening the door to his room and he set his bag in, "we can explore a bit after we eat if you want."

Though he hasn't said it, he was planning on paying for the meal, "ready?" He offered his arm, "I hear they have dancing too if you're up to it." This was strange to him, he was about to have a dinner with a platonic friend, but he couldn't help but like her.

"Learning opportunities everywhere, especially ones such as these." She grinned at the attractive mage beside her. "Yes, it's chocolate. Admittedly one of my favorite foods. One of the foods responsible for my late study hours. You can come study with me, sometime, if you'd like." A chuckle, then Nova's statement registered.
It was Aswan who noticed it first - a slight tinge of redness in her cheeks, a warmth to them. Why? It was only a question, for God's sake, not a physical examination. So why was she "blushing"? A least, she thought it was a blush - it could have easily been the wind warming her cheeks.
Roland seemed to give her an embarrassed grin (which was, admittedly, cute) before offering - and then her "blush" got brighter - to try dating with her? What even was a date? Logic seemed deficient in her brain for a couple of seconds, then she snapped back to reality. She replied to Nova's comment a little defensively, "A date? I-I...?" Ah, she shouldn't deny it, Aswan realized - it would add claim to Nova's logic about her attraction (rightly guessed) to Roland. Instead... She smirked, a plan in mind, and began to speak, in a confident tone. Her plan was simple - flirt her way out, and later she would apologize to Roland for her behavior and suggest a friendly date. "Of course. What more can I ask out of a date, than Roland? Such a gentleman, he is." Her attempt at flirting - founded on countless novels she'd read over the years - was, in her head, well-founded, and well executed. And to top it all off, she touched his arm.
Bad idea. Aswan grimaced, completely breaking her I-know-what-I'm-doing facade, and took a deep breath. Ahhh, bad idea - it was good she hadn't eaten her chocolate yet.
"M-Maybe l-later I can, u-um, study with you?" It was clear now she'd been caught off guard - and, plan self-ruined, she shook her head, now completely red and completely mortified. "Apologies..." she mumbled.

Nova sighed. "None of you have dated before? Well, I do not know for sure about Aswan but by the sound of it... No. I may have only had one boyfriend a long time ago, but do people not date on Earth? By age thirteen, basically everyone in my species was paired off." She had been exposed to the slightly different dating culture of her people, but the whole concept of love seemed to have evolved relatively similarly on both planets. From what she had read, anyway.

"Not to worry, and I guess that joke I made meant nothing to any of you, then. Just... do not worry about it. You are all clueless," she ended with a laugh and smile, more friendly than anything. She noticed Aswan's blush but did not know why her cheeks were going pink. Roland's had done that! It meant she was warming up! At least she thought so... Maybe she was just as clueless as the rest of them.

"Well I am glad it is okay. I agree, we should look forward to good things. Like this cruise!" She looked around. They had been in the pool, and could go back later, but she wanted to try something else. Finishing her chocolate, she said, "What next?"

"I suppose I didn't get the joke, did I." Ouch. Her pride took a hard hit. Admitting that she had been caught off-guard twice? Double ouch. Composing herself, she nodded curtly. Now she could see there had been no hint of mockery, ever, in her voice. And Aswan felt ashamed she had even tried. Yet, she held her stance, put her head high in the air, and managed a friendly, if sheepish, grin. "You have gotten me. Well done." She told Nova, smiling apologetically at Roland and her.

Roland's smile never left his face, he found Aswan's flustered stumblings adorable, "studying together sounds lovely, we can get dinner too."

"From what I've learned dating is common for most of the world," he said in response to Nova's question. "My home was just different, it normally had arranged marriages," he was very happy his parents never tried that.

"So dating will be a learning experience for me," and it looked like he had a very attractive to ghost to try it with.

"Well they have a dance area I believe."
@Ashes

Ling chuckled, "there just weren't any people my age where I was raised," he shrugged a bit, "hard to date when there isn't anyone you can date."

He smiled, "but it looks like that's gonna change," he already liked Nova, she was cute and seemed really fun to be around.

He thought about Roland's suggestion. Smiling he took Nova's hand again, "could be fun, or I hear they have group massages."

Aswan looked around her. Roland's smile never once left his face, nor did Nova's. They seemed, for all the world, supportive people. And it was, she supposed, a safe place. An inclusive place. She decided to add something to the conversation, now looser, less tense.
"I've never dated anyone before either... A learning experience, one more." A pleasant one, to be sure - one with an admittedly cute mage - but still... She had no idea what to do, what logic to use... What to think, even. Her thoughts swirled, but her face slowly returned to normal. "Indeed. Dinner sounds like a wonderful idea." To Nova she gave a smile. "Maybe you two can accompany us? It would be sort of like a group outing, if you'd like." She didn't want to be alone facing the challenge of dating - especially since she seemed to have made a good friend in Nova already, one who knew the workings of dating. Somewhat. She hoped.

Nova
Aswan did not seem to be so happy with her joke. What was Earth compared to her planet? When she used to be with friends, they would make fun of each other so much she was shocked by the sensitivity she was met with here. She immediately cursed herself for observing that in her mind, but she knew it to be true. She did not know what they had gone through, but chances were she had seen worse and somehow she was very different to Earth people. Her careful observations of society had delayed the reveal of them, but they were slowly showing to everyone. Would people mind?

Nova was visibly shocked. "Nobody at all your age? B-but then who were your friends? Your classmates, peers... Enemies? You had nobody to play with or bicker with or anything?" Was that why Earth people were more crazy about feelings than her? Were they all isolated? That would have been awful, she thought, good luck to him. She beamed as he said that would change. Apparently one promise of a date was all it took for a guy to imagine he would be doing much more dating. How did he know that for sure? She did like him and his company, but it was not as if she would go about saying they were dating. They had not even had any time alone!

Her face twisted into a look of disgust at the mention of arranged marriages. If her history instructors had been correct, her ancestors hated the idea of arranged marriages so much that they refused to even marry. They were all about freedom. "That must have been horrible! I have not even decided whether or not I would like to marry at all." Nova was all bout freedom too. Her whole species was. She would not settle for a marriage that restricted anything she wanted to do.

"I like that idea Aswan! We should definitely have a group date sometime, even though now this..." She motioned at the four of them, "Is basically a date anyway."

"I say we go to the dance floor! I need to burn off all of my new energy!" She quite liked the idea of massages, but she was on an absolute energy high after the chocolate and wanted to spend some of it. Plus, she knew how to dance- badly- and it looked fun.
