Threads concerning this business should be made in the City Life forum.
Located between the main districts of Manta Carlos City and the Underground, Ganerdene is the type of place that fits the profile of shady enough to attract police attention and dissuade strangers from entering but also far enough out in the open that people know it's a legit business. Mostly. Some countries are very loose with their blood laws, on account of not knowing that vampires and other blood drinkers actually exist. It should be noted, however, that the prices at the Ganerdene are equivalent to a four or five star restaurant. After all, legally obtained blood is quite a costly product to keep stocked.
The blood bar is two stories tall and has the same facade as a Chinatown restaurant. It has a traditional Chinese roof, lattice on the windows, and smells faintly of iron from a distance. Though those who do not drink blood may find the scent disturbing, to those who do, it is similar to that of an aged but airy wine. The smell becomes stronger as one enters the bar.
Inside, the building is a bit dimly light with electricity, for the sake of its more nocturnal and flammable customers. There are comfortably worn booths all around the first floor as well as a number of regular tables. All of the wood in here is well polished mahogany. Before entering, people are asked to remove all weapons and place them in the coat room. This is technically a rule but if somebody ignores it, the owner does not care so long as the weapons stay concealed and not in somebody's throat. The existence of the rule serves only to absolve the business of blame should a problem arise.
The bar itself where the blood is served takes up the whole of the back wall except for a small segment where the stairs come down from. The bartender is usually a close friend of the owner but the owner herself tends to work a shift there, too, on busy evenings. Vials of various bloods are kept locked in a long, fogged up glass cabinet with a refrigeration system keeping the product cool. The good stuff is towards the top but the really good, limited edition stuff is kept in the closet under the stairs. "Closet" meaning "reinforced safe with a built in refrigerator and preservation spells." This is where all of the famous blood is kept. Do you want to try a bit of some celebrity you've been stalking for an X amount of years? If that person donates blood, you might be in for a bit of luck.
More common orders are straight up shots of any particular type of blood -A,B,AB,O, positive or negative, preferred antigens, human or animal or non-human, origins- or special blood cocktails -any blend of the above and extra plasma if wanted. Appetizers and desserts can be ordered, too, which take the form of solidified blood worked into appealing shapes. The difference between appetizers and desserts is that appetizers are normally much more condensed and heavy while desserts are lighter on the pallet. Straight up plasma can be ordered but mainly, it serves as a garnish for blood dishes and, when drunk, is basically the equivalent of juice. There are more mini fridges lining the bartender's side of the counter, containing the solidified blood.
Popular menu items include Blood Bubble Tea, Shaved Blood Ice, and Blood Pops. All of these also come in plasma only or mixed varieties. For those who are really hurting on cash, everything can be diluted down with water. In addition, tips, while appreciated, are not expected.
The upper level is where the private rooms are. They are not cheap. Not at all. A person can walk in and ask for a room but they had better pay the money upfront. The rooms there resemble a nice Asian style teahouse with low tables, comfortable cushions, and sliding wood doors where one can stay as long as they would like. There is a fridge in the corner of the room for ordered drinks and also contains some complimentary refreshments.
Most of the income that the bar generates goes towards the upkeep of its refrigeration systems and as well as the salaries of its scientists and doctors. People who come in expecting actual food will be disappointed. Out of pity, packets of sugar wafers and bottled water are kept for these poor unsuspecting people. If somebody calls ahead of time that they are coming, however, perhaps with a friend who does drink blood, something suitable can be arranged. No good turning down business, after all.
Though the business has only one true owner, it also has its fair share of investors who have been supporting it since its beginnings.
