Adelene knew her way to town pretty well, but she didn't realize when they actually got there. She simply followed Leon into the grocery shop, slightly amused with how they did get so fast over there. She had a good amount of money with her as well, so before entering, "I'll buy the drinks!" she immediately volunteered.

She joined Leon quickly and started to look around for the ingredients. But whatever enthusiasm she had, it quickly vanished the moment her friend pulled a joke on her. She stopped for a moment, speechless. She didn't even realize her own embarrassment, and it surely did not show, as she snapped out and simply glared at Leon and slightly jumped up to hit him at the back of his head. She made sure it wasn't too painful, and kept it at a playful level. Because if she didn't, things would end up pretty bad.

"Idiot, that's not even cute!" Still, she made sure she sounded mad at least. She pouted and briefly crossed her arms in front her chest, and stuck out her tongue before turning around and running to the other end of the isle.

She stopped. That was only when her embarrassment sunk in, as Leon's joke forced a mental image into her. She could imagine the fire breathing thing. She cursed under her breath, and turned around to Leon, giving him a weak glare.

"...I'll get the drinks. You don't have to ask me what I want for the other ingredients."

And so she walked off to where the drinks were. To get some cranberry juice and milk while trying to cool her head down.

Leon took the hit on the head and had the most confused look on his face as Adelene started to walk off. Shit did that really bother her that much? Leon sighed and stared at the floor for a bit. Well there went the good mood. The normal smile on his face turned into one of sadness as he looked back up as Adelene said she was getting the drinks. A simple nod was all he gave as he returned to looking at the noodles.

"Well....Man there went that motivation. Well let's see if I can pick this back up. Let's see a couple bags of these.... There's the base sauce... Maybe I should make our own sauce. I dunno, christ."

Leon placed the jar of pasta sauce in the cart along with a few bags of spaghetti noodles, placing other ingredients he would need to make the pasta. Slowly he walked while the image of an angry Adelene kept filling his head. Well it certainly was strange as very few people had this effect. Why was this different?

As he walked by Leon grabbed a few spice add ins for the sauce along with extra ingredients he needed in the isle before walking towards the produce. Arriving he starts looking at the tomatoes and begins to go through them, looking for ones that would work great for the pasta. Maybe if he made the meal excellent she wouldn't be mad anymore.

Finding a few tomatoes that fit what he needed Leon pushed the cart towards the peppers and stopped for a moment. How hot were they making this? He knew it would be spicy but didn't know what peppers would make it spicier or find the right medium. Mentally saying "fuck it" Leon grabs a few red and green peppers. He could make due with this.

Leon started walking towards where the drink isle was. He had to apologize to Adelene at the very least and try to make it up. He didn't like upsetting people in general but few bothered him this much. Maybe that was what it was like to have an actual friend.

Leon grew closer to the drink isle and started muttering under his breath as he practiced how he would apologize to Adelene. He made her upset and would make up for it. Just didn't know how yet, though a great lunch would be a start.

Adelene was checking the drinks inside the large coolers. She already managed to calm down, and was simply concentrating on the drinks in front of her. And then Leon arrived.

She paid him a quick glance, one enough to show that she wasn't angry anymore, her whole face has returned to its usual look, the look in her eyes soft again. And then she turned to the coolers again and quickly grabbed four regular-sized cans of cranberry juice, and then a large box of fresh milk, before walking back to Leon and putting the items in the cart.

She was silent for a moment. Simply staring at Leon. She regretted ruining the mood, and more so for making Leon look like that.

And then she eventually began to break the awkward silence. "Leon, I didn't mean to snap..." As she spoke, her eyes moved away. It felt so difficult to look his friend in the eye all of a sudden. She awkwardly started rubbing her nape. "...I know you were joking. I was just... embarrassed. So... I'm sorry, and I hope I didn't hit you too hard."

A second passed, and Adelene decided to look straight at Leon again. As she did, her right hand unconsciously grabbed the opposite side of the cart. Leon's sad atmosphere was making her feel uneasy and guilty. "Um... Please smile, Leon. You didn't do anything wrong."

Leon was confused for a moment. Wait, she was apologizing? But wasn't he the one who did something wrong? Scratching the back of his head Leon looked down at the floor before looking back up at Adelene with half of his smile back.

"Shouldn't I be the one apologizing? Bah I'm being an idiot. Know what? We're both idiots."

Leon let out a small chuckle as he spoke, his smile slowly returning a bit. He did feel bad still, but he could tell it was bothering Adelene a lot. He didn't want to be the cause of their lunch being ruined. Seeing her look at him like that made Leon decide to do something funny to make the mood better.

"I gotta say you have quite the force behind that! My dear Adelene I think you might have the power to pierce the heavens!"

Leon let go of the cart and struck a pose with his right fist in the air not caring if he made a fool of himself. He had to admit that even he watched anime now and then and that his favorite character had quite the lines and was one hell of a leader. Someone Leon actually took after when he was aloof.

"So Adelene! Let us go make the lunch that shall make us sing songs of delight! A meal that will break our minds! Fill our stomachs! And....Well lost the adlib there."

Returning to leaning on the cart Leon was chuckling at his own display. Well if that didn't change the mood he was, at this point, an idiot. He didn't care, long as he got a pleasant reaction from Adelene, embarrassing himself like that would be worth it.

"....Too much?"

Adelene planned to let the matter go, but just before she could pull the cart, Leon makes another joke that struck her, again. But the way Leon spoke, and went on and on, made her laugh this time. She laughed a little more than her usual soft laugh, letting the cart go and slightly clutching on her shirt near the stomach.

"Y-Yeah, that's too much!" she answered, laughing still. She needed a few moments before she could stop herself. Leon was being awkward, but it did the charm for her.

Calming down, she wiped her right eye that was starting to water because of the laughs. She stepped to the side of the cart, and tiptoed to pat Leon on the head. She was smiling like Leon was the most amusing person ever, and she didn't even have to force it, even though the air was heavy just a moment ago.

"Leon, you're really weird, seriously." She chuckled. How many times have she told him that by now? "But you know, it works well just like that."

When she let go, she took a step back and grabbed the cart, slowly and carefully pulling it by the side to another section of the shop. As things cooled down, she realized the relief she felt, relief that Leon easily cheered up and the heavy air quickly vanished. That kind of thing didn't feel right.

"Right!" Now, to completely leave that topic, she pointed to the farthest side of the grocery shop, where some liquors were displayed, and started pulling on the cart again. "Have you gotten the other ingredients? I want to grab some wine. We can even use it to cook if you want."

"Cooking Sherry? Well I can buy it but dunno if I'd use it. Otherwise we're good to go."

Leon steered towards the wine isle and looks through. He finds one he could still use and drink if they felt like it. Though he might not drink some since he didn't know Adelene's age. Wasn't anything special, just a red wine he had drank with his parents before.

Steering the cart towards the pay line Leon kept laughing. Well it worked and things were better. Only one thing left for them to do. Well two, one involved paying. One idea hit Leon though as the cashier was scanning their items. Were they going to carry this stuff all the way to school?

"So I just realized we didn't really think of a to get these back. I could get us a ride if we need to so we're not carrying all of this back."

Pulling out his wallet Leon shows his ID and hands over enough cash to cover the ingredients and took his change, placing it back into his pocket and grabbing a few of the bags, leaving most of the lighter stuff for Adelene to help with so she didn't feel like she wasn't helping out.

"Unless you want to head back to my my place. Don't know if they'd allow even cooking wine on the academy property. Or your dorm. Whichever feels more comfortable for you."

"I thought we could just get a taxi or something to go back to school," their conversation went on as they went and finished paying. Adelene's tone was as casual as if their misunderstanding didn't even happen.

As Leon paid, she also brought out her pouch and insisted on paying for the drinks, wine included. And she wouldn't let Leon say no. She was the one who suggested those items, after all. And she was the one who suddenly wanted some wine. They didn't have to drink it with their lunch, but Adelene made sure to take note of opening the bottle later.

She carried the items she could. She was pouting slightly when she realized that Leon was carrying the heavier ones, but she decided not to say anything about it. They went for the exit, as Adelene thought about what they should do next.

"I'm pretty sure it's fine using wine to cook in the academy. I... I know some cases of other students carrying alcohol with them in school all the time, and they don't really get caught." She turned her head to Leon and grinned. "As long as we don't make a fuss, I'm pretty sure nobody would notice. 'sides, it's not like people could easily tell if students are still minors or if they've lived for centuries. You're not a minor, right?"

For some reason, she seemed really excited about slipping the wine back to school grounds.

"Didn't think of a taxi. Would be a good idea to hail one."

As they walked out Leon let out a disappointed noise at the mention of students bringing alcohol onto the Academy grounds. He knew it happened and didn't like it. Long as it didn't reach him or the people he hung out with he didn't say anything on the matter. Or if he found bottles in the training room. Then he had a problem.

"They do it for different reasons then our own. But I don't exactly like thinking about that. Alcohol leads to things that I honestly don't like. Long as it doesn't get near me, then I pay it no mind. And no, I'm 23 so I can purchase it legally."

It wasn't that he went out and bought alcohol anyway. It didn't appeal to him and only really drank with his parents when they were having a night in. Spotting a taxi coming down the street Leon waved it down as it came to a stop. The driver rolled down the passenger side window and looked at the pair.

"Where to kids?"

"The Academy."

"Alright. Cooking class?"

"You could say that."

"Alright door's unlocked so climb on in."

After nodding to the driver, Leon went over and opened the door for Adelene out of habit. He gave her a nod telling her that she can get in first. He had completely forgotten what had happened in the store because while it did happen, it didn't mean anything. What mattered now was they were going to cook and have fun.

Adelene bit her lower lip guiltily upon noticing Leon's reaction to the alcohol issue in the academy. While she hasn't tried breaking the rules yet, she was guilty of wanting to do so, for fun. Being a goody-two-shoes loner was, after all, pretty boring. Until yesterday it's always been like that.

She regarded the wine she was carrying, and decided not to add it in their lunch plans anymore. They could just use it for cooking then. No drinking or whatsoever. It was also probably a bad idea to let Leon know her drinking history.

"Sorry, we can skip the wine then," she said, just before Leon called for the taxi. She briefly beamed at him before getting in, and then placed the bag of items on her lap as she waited for Leon.

She was silent for a few moments, watching the different objects outside pass them as the taxi started to move. And then she turned to Leon. Still slightly cautious of what to say next.

"If you're curious, I'm 19," she spoke all of a sudden. Thinking about it, that meant they had a gap of four years between their ages. "Didn't guess you're 23. You look like you're only 20."

Leon surprisingly felt off again. He felt bad at saying what he did but it was what he believed in. Maybe.....Maybe this once he could be a little relaxed. It wasn't like they were going to purposely drink just to drink on campus. It would be more like....

Leon's face turned red slightly as he looked at Adelene then turned away to stare out the window. Chuckling a bit he turned back towards Adelene with a red face and a grin.

"We can see what happens when we get there. I promised you a delightful and delicious lunch and that's what I'm going to do. Thanks for the compliment by the way, I get that a lot. Mistaken for a lot younger so it feels nice to hear that every so often."

Leon continued to smile as they pulled up to the gate. Handing over fare money Leon collects his bags and walks over to the other door and opening it for Adelene. This shouldn't have felt any different then normal for how he was but....Naa he was just really happy that this was genuine over just being polite. Right?

"As luck would have it I already secured us a room to cook in without being interrupted. Well expect for the teacher coming by if she needs to but for the most part we'll have the classroom to ourselves till her evening classes start. Which means we won't be interrupted at all. Hope you're hungry because I cook large helpings."

A wink and a laugh as Leon moved all the bags to his left arm and placed his arm around Adelene's shoulders out of habit. It was something he did as a sort of "let me show you the way", but to him it still felt different. He figured it was also part of it being a genuine happiness. Right?
