Appearance Description: Root comes in two forms. The most common form he's in is some accessory in Lily's hair, mostly a sunflower in design though the shape can change depending on the season. When there are no petals he looks like a brown barrette with a face.
His other form is when Lily sets him near the earth. He absorbs nutrients from the area and any nearby twigs and sticks till he becomes a walking tree-man. His face in both forms looks like bark and his eyes glow a yellow hue.

Personality Description: While Lily is innocent in nature and personality, Root is more like an adult. He understands Lily's personality and does his best to steer her away from danger or from things and people that he believes are not a good idea to be around. He also can get rather grouchy depending on how much sun he's had that day, where during cloudy days or at night he is either sleeping or really grouchy. Kind of like an overprotective parent in some cases too.
Powers:
Root himself doesn't possess Lily's plant controlling powers, but his main "power" is the ability to use sunlight and plant life around him to strengthen himself. Note all of this is in his Humanoid form. His Tiny form has no powers besides being able to grow slightly, though not encumbering to Lily's head which is where he mostly is at.
He can use this in a few ways:
Strengthen the bark on his body to be more durable, as well as making it into a strong blunt weapon.
Can place his hand to the ground and extend roots from nearby trees for walls or a cage to defense himself and Lily.
Can do the same to make the roots into sharp spear-like weapons to attack people trying to harm Lily.
Can change his shape and size depending on the soil and plant material around. This mostly is him just changing his height, but can be used in other manners.
However he has a few weaknesses that become worse if Lily is not conscious or nearby:
Because he is a plant he requires sunlight to preform photosynthesis. However when he is close enough to Lily this can be negated to a degree.
Without sunlight his powers are not as effective, but he can still do them by using his body to do the tasks.
As with anything made of wood, he is highly susceptible to being set on fire. However if Lily is around his chances of being set ablaze is low as being near her allows for him to absorb soil from the ground to coat the outside of his bark body to be unable to burn.
Biography: Root was for all intent and purposes part of a tree. He was unaware of anything in life and just spent his days watching from his position as a tree. Root was planted on the island long ago so his real age is unknown because of this. Root has observed people through the years until a normal fall day. Leaves were falling and the wind was blowing. A small stick broke off from a branch and fell to the ground, hitting a small girl in the head. The girl scratched her head and began to cry as her parents started to comfort the child. He wanted to speak out, but couldn't as things in nature had no voice to those who couldn't hear them.
Then a voice appeared which caused everyone to stop and stare as the girl stopped crying. Everyone was looking around while the girl picked up the stick and looked at it through her watery and red eyes. Once more he spoke out and the girl started giggling to herself.
At first he was confused as to why she spoke till he felt his form began to change into something smaller. His blinked...Wait blinked? That was something he never done before. The girl giggled some more. The girl said he looked like a cute little root and didn't want anyone stepping on him when he was a stick. His mouth...?? He had a mouth now too?
"Like a...Root?"
"Root...I'ma call you Root!"
"Root....Such a strange girl."
Root had no name and after harming such a girl, and see how innocent and adorable she was, he ended up becoming the girl's friend and companion brought alive from her magic.
Additional Information: Even while asleep, Root is aware of what is going on because part of him is always "awake." In a sense while he's sleeping it's more of a light sleep he can come out of when he believes Lily might be in danger.
