Adelene's loud footsteps echoed against the floor of the dormitory hallways. She couldn't help but run back to her room after her morning classes, and only because she couldn't stop thinking of today's lunch, and that made her careless and giddy. For the first time, she was going to cook food with a friend, and eat lunch with a friend. What made things even better was that this friend was very promising, someone who was just like her in many ways, someone she was able to open up to easily. Well... she wouldn't really consider it opening up, but she became comfortable around him very easily, without any gut feeling of danger. She was happy she could have a friend like that. Leon. And she was excited, almost too excited, to meet him again after yesterday.

She entered her room and slammed the door shut before running to her bedside drawer. She plopped down her bed, and threw her bag to the corner, before opening a drawer and taking two pouches with her. One was pocket-sized, and she had most of her money there. She placed that one in her jeans' pocket. The other one was slightly bigger, and whatever was inside, she planned to give it to Leon later, hoping he wouldn't mind, but at the same time afraid that he would.

Okay, deep breath. Calm down, Adelene. You're just going to hang out and eat lunch. It's not normal to get so excited. She told herself that, trying to convince herself. But she simply couldn't calm down. She's been eating alone all the time for the past six years, so of course she would look forward to this.

...

She got to the main gate a few minutes early. She wore a pair of jeans, a simple red shirt, and had a small shoulder bag hung on her right shoulder down to her left hip. She was worried she might have gotten there a bit too early, and Leon might end up figuring out that she was really excited. She didn't want that, it was embarrassing. But she found no reason to leave the area, since Leon would be coming anytime soon, as well. She sighed. The sun was pretty high and hot, but she didn't even notice.

"Mom where the hell are they!"

"And what do you mean by they?"

"The goggles!"

"You had them on your head!"

"The white ones!"

"Hanging by the front door."

"Thanks. Going out. Bye!"

What a bundle of fun Leon's morning turned into. He woke up in his father's mechanic shop with the goggles he had spent nearly all night finishing. While it may not seem like much, Leon had to prepare and measure each bit of the rubber strap, mold the frame for the lenses, and go out and buy the same lenses he used for his goggles. Getting everything cooled down and set right without breaking was a task on his own. Before taking another nap he had hung them up near the front door so he could grab them on his way out.

A goodbye wave to his parents and Leon was out the door. He had on a pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt with the logo for his parent's bakery/mechanic shop on the front. It simply read "Norama Food and Repairs" where the back had their slogan "We'll feed you while you wait! So enjoy the freshly baked goods!" Leon was proud to run with this shirt on as it made him feel like he was helping his parents out by being a mobile billboard. Over his eyes rested his own orange goggles with the white pair he had made for Adelene hanging from his belt in a little bag. The start of a fun day and Leon was sure he would see another smile today.

...

As he came closer to the main gate Leon saw a figure standing there. The white hair gave enough away as Leon picked up his pace a bit as he got closer to Adelene. He started to wave towards he as he yelled out a simple, "Yo!"

Stopping in front of Adelene Leon pulls his goggles into his hair and looks down at her smiling. Did she just leave classes and come here? Well no she didn't seem to have and was just waiting here for him. Well they both were early but hey nothing wrong with that.

"How you doing today Adelene? Oh and before I forget here you go! Hope you like them!"

Grabbing the bag from his belt, Leon handed it over to Adelene. A white pair of goggles with a matching head strap, with an orange line through the middle of it. His own personal mark of knowing it was made by his hand. Painted around the lenses were a pair of clouds he thought would make it look even more adorable.

"So what do ya think?"

Adelene had only been there for a couple of minutes. Hearing Leon's voice, her eyes immediately shot to his direction. She waved back at him and gave him her own gentle smile.

"Hi, Leon! I'm good, I'm good. And how are you?"

She looked up at him curiously, her head tilted. She did not expect that at all, she didn't think Leon would really make a pair of white goggles for her, at least not right away. She fixed her gaze on them steadily, before meeting Leon's eyes again. "Really? You seriously made this overnight?" She slowly took them, and stared at them for a few more seconds, disbelief all over her face. "Wow... You didn't have to rush like that, you know. I mean... you probably didn't get enough sleep if you had to do this in just one night..."

A pink taint slowly crept through her cheeks. She had something to give to Leon as well, but unlike these goggles, it was nothing so complicated. The pink evidence of both shyness and embarrassment grew brighter. Thankfully, the sun was already high and she could simply blame the heat.

Still, she tried not to look like it, and quickly tried the goggles on. She positioned them over her eyes, and looked up at Leon so he could see how she looked like. "It fits perfectly, Leon. How do I look? Not an insect anymore, I hope." She chuckled. "I like it. Thanks."

She wanted to give her gift for him as well. It was a simple object that she just thought would be a nice thing to give to people, simply because she was fascinated by it as well. But it wasn't handmade, and that made her hesitate. Leon's gift to her was much more special. Maybe she'd give it to him later...

"Same as normal. Maybe a little tired from jogging but that's to be expected."

Leon watched as Adelene looked at the goggles then back at him. Well he didn't want to say that he stayed up all night but he didn't want to worry her. It wouldn't been nice and that would make her worry more. Though it already seemed that she had guessed it and he didn't want to hide it.

"Don't worry about it. Pretty sure I got enough sleep though not really all that comfortable. The jog worked out those kinks so I'm good. Hey you alright? Your face got a little red."

Leon sounded genuinely worried when he asked Adelene about her face. Was she falling ill? Or was she just feeling hot from the sun. He figured the latter as it was a pretty hot day out. As Adelene put on the goggles Leon smiled wide and gave her a nod.

"You look awesome and beautiful! Ready to go for a nice jog or even swimming. Very fashionable too. And you're oh so welcome! If you need anything repaired let me know!"

Leon's face glowed a little red at being thanked. He didn't know why though. He wasn't doing anything all too different. Was he? Though he does have to admit to himself that this felt different then all the other times he was nice to others. Never went through so much trouble before for someone. So why was this feeling so much different? Shaking his head Leon figured it was a thought for another time.

"So for lunch, what did you have in mind? Anything in particular you want to make? Or we can just grab what sounds good and see what we can make."

Adelene pulled the goggles up to her hair, using it as a makeshift headband. The goggles were like an adorable fashion object with a great helpful function to her, and she wasn't going to take it off while she still did not have to. Happy wasn't enough to express her emotion for receiving such a gift. Because usually, happiness wouldn't make her heart beat so loud this easily.

She was a little worried about Leon not having enough sleep though, and wasn't sure anymore that taking their time would still be a good idea. Partly, she felt bad, thinking that what Leon did was for her, and that meant she caused him to have very little sleep. For a brief moment, a sorry expression masked her smile. But then she thought that ruining the fun mood of the day would cause her more guilt, and so blew it away from her lips immediately.

She hummed thoughtfully. It was probably better to make something easy, for Leon's sake. She didn't mind anyway. "I wonder... What kind of dishes do you like? Anything meat is good to me, really. And then maybe we can just buy some kimchi for side dish. It's good with any meat dish, and really spicy too!"

She grinned and suddenly pulled on Leon's sleeve, a way of asking for them to leave already. No point in staying by the gate under the scorching sun. That's when she noticed his shirt and what it said. She chuckled. "That's quite an adorable shirt you got there. Nice tactic, now I know there's a good shop I can visit if I need some repairing done. Maybe I should do the same to advertise old man Kranz's shop. He's not really that old though. Haha."

One thing Leon's training and personality have done for him is noticing the little details. For example the second Adelene's face showed sorrow over the smile. Putting his hand on her head he ruffles up her hair a bit while smiling and laughing.

"Look if you're worried about me not having enough sleep don't. From my alarm clock told me when I woke up this morning I had about six hours of sleep which is perfectly alright for an average person to get. Besides seeing the look on your face when I gave you the goggles was worth it."

As his hand left Adelene's head it finds its way to his pocket and listened to her about what would be fun to make. He started to think about some meat dishes he could cook. Not gunna lie most of the stuff he could do involved a grill, but he had a few from his mother's book he could try. With Adelene pulling on his sleeve Leon couldn't help but smile wider.

"Spicy huh? Alright I think I got a good idea in mind. Been a while since I've made it but it's not all that difficult. How does spicy meatballs and spaghetti sound to you? Simple enough to make and oh so filling. Dunno if kimchi goes with it though but hey I've tried weirder stuff together. Ever had a thing of pasta with just a mixture of mayo and cheese over the normal pasta stuff like alfredo sauce or tomato sauce? Was pretty good to me."

At the mention to his shirt Leon looked down and blushed a bit. It was one of the first times that someone he was hanging out with complimented him on it. Then two words stuck in his head that made him actually think "holy shit" to himself. He was actually hanging out with someone that he actually wanted to instead of doing it to be nice.

"Don't forget you can eat while there too. Though Mom normally doesn't let me touch anything in her bakery unless she's being swarmed. Ya know we get a shirt made about Kranz's shop and both of us can wear our shirts and just go for a jog or walk throughout the city. A nice stroll throughout the city would be nice. But for today, we have a lunch date."

Adelene was a little-- okay, probably a lot-- flustered when Leon ruffled her hair. Although her face couldn't get any redder by then, her whole body started to feel all shaky and limp because of that. Nobody ever patted her or ruffled her hair except for that one person that killed her parents and ruined her life. That one person that caused her not to want to trust people so easily.

Honestly, even though she and Leon were already friends, and it's true that she was comfortable around him, it was still probably going to take a long time before she opens up to him more. No rush though. It was nice to take time.

Despite that, her worry for Leon was genuine. She pouted, and her eyebrows momentarily furrowed above the bride of her small nose. "Six hours..? I guess that's fine... But if you feel sleepy later, just tell me, okay?"

Her thoughts drifted back to the spicy dishes. She actually liked the idea, she even tried to imagine the dish when paired with kimchi, and to her it did not seem so awkward.

But before she got to react, her eyes shot up to Leon's once again. She imagined how they would go about with that suggestion, but somehow, even though she did say she wanted to try this advertisement tactic herself, wearing such shirts together felt kinda awkward to her. It was like wearing couple shirts, only it wasn't really like that. She laughed awkwardly, and scratched her cheek with a finger as she looked straight ahead. They were already walking, so the sceneries changed slowly.

"That's... I dunno..." She couldn't say what was on her mind though. That was even more embarrassing. And the fact that Leon called this a lunch date made that embarrassment worse. "...I spoke pretty carelessly, huh? Honestly, I'm not even sure Kranz would let me wear a modern shirt while trying to advertise the shop. I mean... I always end up dressing up like a medieval villager working for a shop from a Fantasy RPG. It's that kind of shop and he likes preserving the theme... We can visit next time if you want. But for now... yeah... better not stray away from lunch plans..."

"I will I promise. I wouldn't want to worry you anymore then I already am. So come on, let's enjoy the day and make us a delicious meal!"

A small chuckle followed by a confident grin, Leon put his hand on Adelene's shoulder as they walked and gave a "let's have a good time" squeeze. All he wanted to do was reassure her that everything would be fine and they'd have fun today. At the moment Leon wanted to do nothing but make this day one of the best days Adelene has ever had.

A small chuckle at the mention of Kranz not liking the idea. Well truth be told Leon forgot the Kranz's shop was like that and wouldn't want to ruin it by doing something the guy didn't like. Still wasn't that bad of an idea. Then another idea ran through his mind.

"That sounds kinda fun to be honest. I'd walk around in a knight's armor if I could but man the set my father has is heavy. Anyway you're right! Let's stick to planning lunch! Spicy meatballs on spaghetti with kimchi and garlic bread on the side. If they have the ingredients I might even make a spicy sauce to go with it. Glad I inherited that part from my mom. Dad's not good with spicy stuff and Mom can't get enough of it. And here I am already watering at the mouth at the thought of spicy meatballs, spicy sauce, and I swear to god if they have a spicy noodle I would so throw that into the mix. But here's the question of the day: What to get for drinks? I'm not a complete health nut to kick soda to the curb, but it doesn't sit right in my mind as a drink to go with spaghetti. Any ideas?"

Imagining the food they were planning made Adelene's mouth water. Well... not literally, but she did feel the insides of her mouth tingle, somewhat like when one craves for something. And her eyes, if one would directly look into them, one would see the way they sparkled, almost as if they were reflecting the food in her mind.

She was too absorbed in these thoughts that she didn't mind Leon's hand on her shoulder, unlike the day before.

"I'm into spicy dishes, and I agree with that combination of the dishes... But I'm not invincible against them so I guess I'd like something with milk later. Even though it's odd with the kimchi. Or... If you want something that jives with the pasta... Red wine would be good." She halted for a moment, wondering if wine really was okay. She remembered that alcoholic beverages weren't really allowed in the school, unfortunately. "Or cranberry juice maybe?"

(OOC: dude I think we should make a skip to the city or to a grocery shop or something)

Leon hadn't even noticed the time going by as they walked. He was honestly enjoying himself more then when he took a random person out just to cheer them up. Maybe it was because this wasn't just something he was doing to cheer someone up. He was hanging out with a friend. One he could already tell he would treasure. By the time Leon actually realized where they were the grocery store was before them.

"Oh wow didn't realize we got here that quick. Let's see did I....Ah ha!"

Leon grabbed his wallet from his pocket and opened it up to check how much he brought. He had done a little math in his head and he had extra after buying the supplies they needed to make their spicy dish. He had an idea of what to do with that money later.

Walking inside Leon instinctively grabs a cart and leans over it, turning it to look back at Adelene. Given her stature he sooo wanted to make a joke. Maybe another time, he didn't want to creep her out or anything.

"Guess the first thing is how spicy do you want to make it? Just dice up some peppers? Grab some seasoning? If you wanted I could make it so hot you'd breath fire. And now picturing you breathing fire. That's a funny image not gunna lie."

Leon chuckled at his own joke, but he really did find it rather funny. He pictured the fire coming from Adelene's mouth as her face was bright red like in a cartoon. Well he'd have enough stuff to deal with the spiciness anyway. Without thinking about it Leon started heading to the isle with the noodles, stopping before them and looking over the different kinds.

"So, any preference or shall we just stick with the normal noodles? I'm making this for you afterall, so choose what you find most appealing."

"Let's see....
