・・ APPEARANCE ・・

Tucker is the kind of person whose first impression is almost always kind, soft-spoken and rather mild-mannered. He isn't gentle in any way, no, but it's that sort of appearance that isn't too imposing while still maintaining a respectable air on him. Standing at a height of 5'11 feet, he has a slender build and youthful appearance to him. His expression has this small quirk of a smile that adds more to his approachable aspect. He keeps his hair shoulder-length hair in a ponytail, while the rest simply falls down to frame his face. His eyes are a calm dark brown that has a cheerful squint to them with a gentle gaze that eases ones nerves.

His mannerisms don't seem very notable at first, but on closer observation, it's easy to notice how he seems to fall into thought every so often. When you spot him in the city on his own, he's almost always lost in thought that it feels bad to disturb him at times. He gives this impression that he has a lot on his mind — which is no lie. Despite this, he doesn't really appear spaced out. On the contrary, his thoughts seem more dire than anything, the thinking expression of someone trying to figure out a puzzle that cannot be solved.

Tucker's clothing preferences comes in layers, often caught wearing some sort of coat over his top even on a usual day. It isn't anything stuffy, as he prefers lighter clothing on any day of the year — even more so during the hot summers. On cooler weathers, he's found to wear a scarf resting over his shoulders. Overcoats aren't anything that isn't in his wardrobe and so are a few knit cardigans. His colors range on earthy colors with hints of grays and blacks at a few places.

・・ PERSONALITY ・・

Tucker is, more than anything, composed and cool-headed. In almost any situation, he can retain his calm demeanor. He is very inquisitive and, being the scholarly individual that he is, he has knowledge spanning centuries. Of course, as they say, wisdom comes with age. He is wise and it would not be so much an understatement to say that he can also be sly at a few given opportunities. He's not the type to use his knowledge and abilities for amusement but there are very rare times that he would, for the sake of someone that matters.

He goes through life like a mind game, calculating his own movements on moments when he needs to weigh everything on the line. He chooses when he should speak and when he should stay quiet. Discipline is something he's practiced since his youth and even up to this point, it's not anything he would give up. He isn't one to join large groups of people and would prefer a a small circle of close friends he could engage in meaningful conversations rather than idle chatter. His sense of humor tends to be really straightforward.

Tucker isn't perfect. A few times, Tucker can become childish and stubborn. He would be insistent of beliefs that sometimes go so far as to contradict himself. He turns evasive on things he'd rather not discuss, mostly those relating to his personal life and avoids most forms of confrontation until it becomes too terrible to deal with. Human emotions have become to foreign to him over the centuries in a way that sometimes feelings of attachment scare him.

He values knowledge and generally, any usable information (this includes blackmail material). He lives for his research, and he would spend time studying more if he had the chance. Artifacts are one of the very few things that interest him in the material sense, spell books, ancient tomes, heirlooms, as well as almost insignificant items that had a place in history. One can find him observing nature, or sometimes going back to the old ways just simply collecting his thoughts in his abode. Writing is an interest of his and sometimes he writes poetry when he feels the need to break off from his research.

Being as old as he is, Tucker has had enough time to try a lot of things and perfect skills along the way. Pottery and painting has been one of those he never invested much effort on but he's done enough to know basic skills but he's convinced visual arts isn't anything he has a gift on. Hailing from a family of warriors, his skill in swordsmanship is his pride, right next to his magical abilities. He has trained himself both in Western and Eastern arts, although his best is what is now known as Kendo. His language skills aren't anything to belittle: at the moment, his linguistic profile consists of English, Japanese, Russian and Latin up to literary level and he can understand at least 10 others.

・・ POWERS ・・

Spellcasting (Main)

Tucker possesses the potential to use almost any form of magic. Despite this, he has only focused his magic on specific classes. The spells he can cast with minimal effort includes healing spells, protective charms, and some forms of conjuration (mostly instantaneous transport covering short distances). He has also trained himself with appraisal spells for learning purposes. He has dedicated most of his life to research which is why he was only able to focus developing a very specific type of magic.

Tucker keeps a tome which contains all the spells he handpicked from his research that he actually finds uses for. Apart from the spells he actually memorized by heart, he is almost dependent to this tome. He's completely untrained in any form of offensive skills in general and considers himself more of a scholar of magic than anything else. He still is able to cast other spells outside of what he can but it would require more effort and focus and he doesn't even have any interest to do so.

The process of his spell involves the use of invocation circles: patterns of light that are the equivalent of formulas in scientific and mathematical processes. The appearance of the circles differ according to what spell, what category or school of magic it belongs to, and what type of magic it is based on. Because of this, Tucker always needs his references to be able to use his spells unless he has had the spell memorized by heart. His spells would require a longer time to work unlike those gifted with the specific magic. For example, a weapon summoner may be able to project a weapon in no more than 3 seconds whereas his own projection spell may require more than 10 seconds and he would need an original piece (or non-magical replica) to copy.

He discovered his gift of magic when he happened upon an old room filled with magic items and manuscripts hidden away in the old library when he was 17 years old. Unfortunately for him, one of the manuscripts came with a curse that nearly took his life. The story behind his immortality is a deal with a demon whom he had met in the last few months in his cursed mortal life. He managed to find a significant loophole to get out of the deal and be able to keep his wish without its price — now he has an immortal human body which is immune to any illness and curses with an increased rate of healing and he gets to keep his soul. He cannot die but he is still able to feel pain which can be very problematic at times.

・・ BIOGRAPHY ・・

Tucker Watanabe, born Takeru Yumemiya, grew up in 14th century Japan in service of the Imperial family. The Yumemiya was a line of warriors and although he had not been one of the strongest, his skills wasn't anything to brush aside. Despite this background, Takeru had shown more promise as a scholar. He was studious and gifted that he soon became one of the best of his time by the time he reached the age of 14. Takeru was highly recognized in the arts and poetry in his young age and was respected by most of the scholars and became one of the most reliable of his generation.

Not everyone knew this, but Takeru was a peculiar child. He was brilliant in many ways but he had always held back with certain topics that seem to speak of the superhuman. It wasn't like he avoided them but it was more so, he knew more than they probably expected him of. It was an awareness that would have probably scared most people off, or possibly put him in a spotlight he didn't want. He wasn't sure where it was from but he was aware he had a spark no one else seemed to have. The only thing that was in his way is that he wasn't any closer to the knowledge of this as anyone he knew.

It was only a matter of time though that he would have a fateful opportunity. He had been in the archives, searching for scrolls that would have made any use to his fellow scholars. Looking further into the shelves and containers, young Takeru stumbles upon a hidden door on the floor, hidden under a heavy pile of containers. Curiosity beckoned him but he chose to return only at nightfall when no one expected him.

The moment he opened the hatch, a cool air seemed to emerge from the darkness. The door opened a hidden passage which led to a vast underground archive no one seemed to know about. As he breathed in the sight, he found the room was evidently untouched by time. Takeru realized that the room itself did not belong to their era as he looked around. Curiously looking around the manuscripts, he found the contents of the room eerie and mystical. He knew the texts had been written in scripts unfamiliar to him but he could read and decipher them as if he was reading the simplest of Japanese writing. He spent the entire evening reading most of the materials that he didn't realize the sun had risen and it was already the following day.

Takeru found himself enthralled with the mysteries the hidden archives held, feeling a connection to the secrets it kept. It was a couple of months after he'd discovered the room when he encountered a peculiar book, bound by a strange sort of leather and tied with a golden string. It drew him in, like it had some sort of enchantment that called for him as soon as he'd laid his eyes on it.

Up to this day, he could never really say if he ever regretted answering that call. He had been perusing the book, deciphering its contents when he'd felt a burning sensation at his wrist at the turn of a page. It was easy to tell: the mark on the burned on his wrist had been on that page and he could barely recall the panic that he felt realizing that it had been a cursed mark. He didn't want to worry but reading it was a curse that would kill him made him abandon any attempts to study the book any further.

Over the next few weeks, he'd left the book alone but it didn't stop the curse. His body slowly began to deteriorate, eventually falling ill while he continued his magic studies as well as his due with the imperial court. Takeru was persistent and attempted to fight off the curse with healing magic, with only very little help to slow his impeding demise.

He knew he was dying: to die so young at only 18 gave him a sense of loss and it pained him even more to know there was so much more he couldn't understand about magic. A twist of fate led him to meet Yuki Nakimura, who would eventually offer him immortality in exchange for his soul. Takeru had grown depressed and disoriented at this point. What could losing his soul do, when he would have better opportunity to pursue his goals?

He chose his words carefully, determined not to make a mistake for his wish of immortality. Despite the entire exchange being his own decision, he'd held this all against the demon, accusing him of taking advantage of his desperation. He'd spent the next few years buried in his studies, ignoring the empty feeling of having turned over his soul to the devil in an attempt to sate his greed for knowledge. He left his hometown, faked his death and sailed off to the next island.

In a strange turn of events, he found his way back to the book that had cursed him. It hadn't lost its charm to it and pulled him back to its pages. To his surprise, the tome itself became the key to saving his soul from hell. As soon as he broke through the contract, he fled and went into hiding. He changed his name, and sailed off to the next country.

Takeru would spend the next few centuries in search of mystic knowledge and keeping out of the radar. He made it through the centuries quietly, barely leaving marks that could identify him through the Narrow Reality. As he reached about 300, he'd began writing for the magic societies, sharing his own research with fellow magic scholars. Some of his books somewhat made its way into the Narrow Reality, but the nature if his works made it as if it was written as fiction by an aggregate of writers that he was able to avoid being found out. Though for some, it may have become a beacon.

He'd had his visits to various hidden places, floating islands, and pocket dimensions. Manta Carlos wouldn't have been anything new for him but it apparently, unexpected things happen on this island beyond his control.
