As odd as it sounded, once upon a time he'd actually managed to fall asleep during a donation. Of course, that was no good - they'd had to wake him up and make sure he was still doing alright. But it was that kind of relaxation he experienced when donating blood, an event that was often considered scary by others. The tiny bit of pain was nothing, and he let out a quiet little sigh as his blood started to drain out.

He wasn't immune to the side effects or anything. When it was done, he'd still be down the same amount of blood as anyone else. He'd simply bounce back much faster, and do so with no risk of anemia. Depending on how someone looked at it, his illness could be considered anti-anemia. After all, he was never going to be at risk of running out of red blood cells for any reason other than outright murder.

That said, he was slightly mystified by the conversation that the winged woman was having with the nurse. He just couldn't follow, and he doubted it was because of the blood donation.

"Do you not have enough donors?" He asked, and then seemed to startle. He'd asked it so easily, as if none of his anxiety had mattered in that moment. Was he really so relaxed that even his anxiety just... stopped happening?

“Have enough donors? What a charming thought,” Nergüi said contemplatively, staring at the bag of blood with calculation in her eyes. Just a few more minutes and it would be done. “I do not believe that such a thing will ever a occur, partially because I do like having a lively business and also partially because there seems to be a growing trend in the supernatural community these days. So many vampires are cropping up and of course not all can afford our prices. It is a disgraceful thing to have to resort to mugging back alley drunks for a meal but there is only so much product that I can supply without determent to my livelihood and that of my employees.” She said this with a sniff and the air of somebody who had seen this event a million times.

“At the moment, however, my primary issue has been finding doctors for lab-tests and blood-drawing,” she corrected. “My business here is rather unique, nothing like those thugs down at Eturnal who will merely snatch people off of the street. I am a law-abiding citizen and it is therefore in my best interests to assure both quality as well as legality. The blood must be healthy, freely given, and empty of drugs. If you have any recommendations, I am open to them, though I must emphasize that my business is completely legitimate and I intend to keep it that way.”

That was... curious. So the issue was not with donors, but with people to take the donations. He hadn't heard of Eturnal, but from what little she'd said, it wasn't hard to guess at what they were doing. He'd been worried when he'd first arrived that there would be vampires around, and he'd never quite shaken that fear. He knew he was as safe on the island as he was elsewhere (if not more so), but it didn't change the fact that there were around.

He didn't really know how he felt about Vampires, to be honest.

He shook his head, having absolutely no recommendations to give. He didn't know enough people on the island to recommend anyone. "I'll... send people your way." If he found anyone. But the rush was mostly over for him - he was starting to feel more tired than anything, which was usual enough for him. He'd bounce back quickly, but it was still draining to literally be drained.

"Hm." Nergüi nodded but that was all she had to offer on that particular subject. The smell of blood was heavy in her nose and rich with iron. This would be a very good day for her. If the man's blood came out clean then she could happily add a new regular donor to her always too-short list.

Soon enough the bag was filled up. The nurse moved to wipe the puncture on Emil's arm clean and wrap a bandage around it. Nergüi hovered over their shoulders in spirit; from her seat at the table, all she needed to do was breathe in the scent of blood to get a vague idea of their movements. Habit was useful like that, though it fell too far into petty daydreaming for her tastes. She stopped at once.

"Take as much time as you need to be back on your way," Nergüi told Emil. In the background, the nurse muttered a quick promise as he shuffled out -that he would head straight to the lab testing and have results by the next morning.

He wasn't one of those people who hung around long after the donation was finished. When the bandage was applied, he reached down, lightly rubbing circles around it to help ensure proper circulation. Even though he'd never had any actual circulation problems, it was the sort of thing he'd been taught to do as a young boy, and never stopped to wonder about. He simply did it, as automatically as he breathed.

He shook his head, indicating how unnecessary it was. He was all but done, giving a small stretch before he got up, standing without the tiniest bit of wobble.

He gave her a little nod of his head. The whole thing had been quick and fairly pleasant, not unlike his past donations. Of course, he hadn't been paid for his past donations, which slid this one comfortably to the front of the line.

"I have to donate every four weeks." He'd practiced that line, and it came out so neatly. Maybe he was still feeling relaxed from the blood donation - or maybe donating blood was just so usual for him that it was easy.

"Is there anything else?" He was, in that moment, almost normal.

Nergüi drew herself up. "If you wish to leave, I have no further reasons to keep you," the woman said. "Assuming that the results are clear, I will of course be glad to receive any future donations from you." Glad was actually a rather mild word for it but she really did not want him to get the idea that he could bargain more pay from her like some others had before. She was in need of more blood, yes, but she was not desperate. At the very least, Emil was obviously a quiet sort and quiet sorts did not usually tend to demand such things.

"It has been a pleasure doing business with you," she said, most genuinely.

His results would be clear - that much he was certain of. There would be nothing wrong, he'd come right back in a month. He was happy with his pay (in fact, he was impressed he was being paid at all), and opted to give her a small smile and a nod before heading out of the business, considering just how he'd spend that money. He had idle daydreams, but the smart plan was probably for him to sit on it in case anything went wrong. It would make a sizable nest egg, the kind he might one day put towards a house he wasn't even sure he wanted.
