Appearance Description: Rowan Taylor is shorter than other people his age, and has a dark sea-green/teal eye colour and flat black hair. He has a slightly tanned yet pale complexion and weighs the average weight a boy of his age does. His clothing style consists of normal teenage boy wear from all kinds of video game shirts to music shirts, his favourite being a black shirt with a silver dragon on the front under a zipped up hooded jacket and brown shorts and black and white sneakers.
Personality Description: He's the antisocial nerd that sits in the corner by himself. He's into digital art but won't admit it to anyone. He's withdrawn in terms of what he says to people, generally muttering to himself something along the lines of "I never noticed how much I loved the sound of silence". He does want to make friends, but he just comes off as a little harsh and takes time to warm up to people. He's usually pretty good in class, but does point out when he doesn't agree with something. He's got more of a darker personality than most his age. He does still have nightmares from his past and have moments of fear every time he sees a fire or a flame, even a candle makes him ill at ease.
Powers: Shadow Manipulation: Rowan can control shadows as both the silhouetted reflection on a wall according to direction of light, and as a physical substance. He can easily cast shadows in varying shapes onto walls and anything that can have a shadow, but finds it harder to construct large solidified creations, but can create smaller ones. He can create anything up to the size of a soft drink can.
Drawbacks: It causes mental strain as well as physical strain when casting something solidified. The mental strain comes from the concentration required to keep steady thought processes. The mental strain also comes from the fact that shadows link to fear and as human beings, people have a fight or flight response. The physical strain comes from the actual casting, hence why solidification's are small, and simple shapes on walls are easy and he's still learning to harness his powers.
Strengths: Solidified shadows can be used as an offense, and wall shadows are more or less used as scare tactics.
Weaknesses: The mental strain shadow manipulation causes, he can't go past a certain extent or he'll pass out, also according to the elemental cycle, light is a weakness and any form of power binding or power nullification.
Biography:
Both of Rowan's parents got burnt in a fire when he was younger, he lived in an orphanage for some time before a nightmare that reminded him of his parents death woke him up in a panic, allowing him to discover his control over the shadows. He's still learning how to control them, and this incident is what caused him to become the way he is. He got contacted about Manta Carlos and Starlight Academy via mail, and ended up enrolling at the academy.
