Marcus nodded, picking up the two books. "So how much are they?" The money wasn't an issue, unless it was an obscene amount of course. He had about a thousand a month from his parents, so he wasn't exactly short on money. It would be nice to have his own source of income though.

Seeing that Claudius was still nervous, Marcus had an idea. "Say, what's your favourite book here?"

He ducked his head, embarrassed to even have to ask for money for something he was selling. "Thirty four for the smaller, forty three for the larger," Claudius said softly. It was somewhat standard for beginning level spell books, especially ones that weren't new enough to be counted as mint condition but at the same time not old enough to be counted as antiques.

"T-this person?" He said, surprised. "This person, this person usually reads fiction. It's probably nothing worth your time."

Not worth his time? "I'm sure it won't be. I love taking recommendations for new reading material." Marcus said. This was true, but he had a plan for when Claudius actually told him.

Taking out his wallet, Marcus pulled out the requested amount, plus a bit extra.

Marcus Warke
"Oh, nice. I used to read these a lot when I was younger." Marcus said politely. He took one that he knew out, and slowly read a few words.

As he spoke, a light could be seen coming from the book, and when he finished, a single golden egg, the size of a pumpkin, lay on top of the now blank book.

"A gift." He said, displaying it so Claudius could see. "Do what you will with it. Just remember that even if these," He nodded to the spellbooks in his hand. "are considered magical, all books are true magic."

And with that, leaving the egg on the book, Marcus left the store with his purchases, as well as the new information he had learned.
