She tilted her head. "Oh, didn't I mention?" Lucianne said thoughtfully, half to herself. "I'm actually from the island. I was born here mostly human and then transitioned over later. I'm not really all that fond of the Regalia homeland, honestly. It's just different. Not in a bad way, just in a I-have-no-real-connection-to-this-place way."

No, she hadn't mentioned, and Jude looked momentarily surprised before he let it really register. That made sense. Not everyone could come from the homeworld. The island had been picked for a reason, and the idea that the proctors were from Manta Carlos originally made... well, a lot of sense. Probably they'd been picked in part because they were familiar with the island.

"That makes sense," Jude said. "If you're going to sign up now, do you want me to wait outside for you?" He made it a habit not to hang around getting in people's way within the range, largely because he himself didn't like other people hanging around getting in his way.

"I'm sure I can manage," Lucianne said after a thought. "It can't be too bad, can it?"

And, in fact, it wasn't. She walked back to the counter to return her gun and then, after a bit of chatting, worked her way to the topic of lessons. It was easy enough to sign up and the fee wasn't much anyways. She went through the paperwork quickly, making sure to note in her phone the time of the first lesson. After that, she left the building to find Jude.
