Appearance Description : Kitasaki stands at five feet five inches tall and has a fairly athletic build from running. He has delicate facial features and long dark purple hair that falls down to his waist. His eyes are yellow with a light green tinge.
Kitasaki always seems to dress like it's summer, no matter what season it happens to be. He wears a suit to work but once his hours are up, it's gone.
Personality Description : Kitasaki has a rather laid back personality and frequently can be found snacking on something, although not while he's teaching. While he's perfect polite and approachable in class, he warns everybody beforehand that he is very strict on rules and deadlines. Slackers wouldn't last too long. Outside of the classroom, Kitasaki is one of those people who would run themselves ragged for others. But only if somebody asks him first. There's little that he wouldn't be willing to do for somebody, as long as it's nothing particularly heinous. And he will ask lots of questions about whatever it is to be sure.
Kitasaki is also not much of a morning person, which is why most people will never see him past noon; because he doesn't usually wake up until eleven or so. This is also why he never teaches morning classes. If somebody actually were to talk with him at this time, they'd find him to be very irritable and grumpy. He usually improves after eating junk food and would be incredibly embarrassed afterwards if anybody was with him at that time.
Power : Ten Thousand Fireflies - Kitasaki can produce fireflies from any object with only one open side, such as a jar or a bowl. Or an umbrella. These fireflies are entirely harmless and upon closer inspection, they most are no more than constructs of glowing magic which can change colors but will always be in the form of a firefly. However, there will be one real firefly among the fake ones, which never changes color and is normal. This firefly is used as a template for the others and until it is either killed or returned to the object that it was released from, that object will continue to produce magical fireflies. Breaking the object, however, will also stop the fireflies from being created.
Kitasaki is capable of producing fireflies from multiple objects but he always has to first catch a real one. This has to be done with his hands, not any other container. Once he does this, his magic puts a type of invisible marker on the insect, which causes it to appear in a swarm of constructs whenever he calls for it. Each firefly he catches is one more swarm that he can create. However, since fireflies have a natural lifespan of two months, he always has to find more.

Biography : Kitasaki was the first of four children and was considered to be the serious one of them during childhood. In fact, he was considered to be the serious person of his entire family as well. Most members of his family were fun loving types, and even though he was like that on some level as well, he was simply naturally calmer than them.
As early as seven, he was sure that he was going to be a teacher and although his parents would have preferred that he looked after the family's antique shop instead, there was just no changing his mind. Probably in spite of the fact that academics did not have the highest priority in his family, Kitasaki became a complete bookworm, with the intent of excelling in class. Overall, however, he wasn't the best student but he also wasn't an average student. Something comfortably in between was what fit him better, and even though it bothered him for a while, he learned to get over it. It took him a good ways towards mellowing out into the person he currently is.
For the longest time, Kitasaki's younger siblings saw him as a kind of fun killer for nagging them so much. Partially because of this, he was the last of the family to discover his power and even after he had, it was unofficially agreed that his was the most useless one. Kiku could turn into a spider, Kotone could understand all kinds of animals, and Kenshin had perfect 360 degree vision in all but the brightest of light. Meanwhile, all Kitasaki could do was make fireflies. It didn't help that his power was the one that required the most work to get it to function, too. At least Kitasaki hadn't been the last in the family to learn about the powers, though. His parents had been left in the dark about it up until an incident one day when Kiku became sick at the dinner table and accidentally turned herself into a spider. Incredibly, they were able to overcome their shock and simply accept it. Because that was just the kind of family that was.
Eventually, somebody took note of Kotone's uncanny affinity for animals and the magical community became aware of the siblings' powers when Kitasaki was sixteen. Though all four children were given letters to Starlight Academy, Kiku immediately declined in order to help at their parents' shop and learn how to manage since she was the only child really interested in taking over. Kotone accepted readily while Kitasaki himself decided to hold off until university. Kenshin didn't have a choice at all because his parents thought he was too young to be going to school abroad and it turned out that once he was of age, he didn't want to go anyways.
Though Kotone eventually left the Academy once university came around for her -so doing the opposite of what her older brother had did- Kitasaki found that he liked Manta Carlos enough to stick around even after his schooling had ended.
