Powers: As a hereditary trait, Katsuo is able to connect to the 'void', a plane of darkness and mystery. He is able to partially slip into the void, becoming invisible and intangible as he does so. His scent is masked completely and he cannot be detected by those with sensory powers. This process takes 2 minutes to initiate, so he cannot do it instantly. He can maintain this state for up to 5 minutes maximum at a time, or he can choose to revert beforehand. When he does he cannot start again for 20 minutes.
As a separate, lesser technique of this power, he can also become invisible instantaneously. He can still be detected by sensory powers as well as by scent. Naturally, both abilities remove his shadow completely, which limits the use of his other power.
Another ability this grants is the (somewhat limited) ability to manipulate shadows By connecting to the void, he can give a section of a shadow substance and expand it to create constructs such as weapons and medium sized shields. He can create more, larger structures when it's dark than he can in light. These structures also weaken considerably in light. It should be noted that these structures are also given mass, meaning that the larger and more dense the structure is, the heavier it is to carry.
Biography:
Katsuo was born and raised in a rich family in Japan. They are descended from a long line of powerful ninja that operate even to this day in secret. Lots of members of the respective clans his parents come from mainly take jobs as bodyguards for important people with lots of money. His parents worked hard to get where they are now.
From a young age he was educated in English as well as Japanese. While he is fluent in English, he'll let out a very subtle trace of the accent which gives away his heritage when under stress.
He was also given self defence training from a young age.
He was taught of his mother's lineage of a the Kage Clan. The stories of their legend always filled Katsuo with wonder as a child.
He first discovered his powers when a group of thieves managed to get into his large house. They broke into his room, where he was still awake in bed. He was too paralysed with fear to move, or even utter a single sound. So you could imagine his surprise -and relief- when they seemed to completely ignore him, despite looting items within spitting distance of him. His parents quickly came to the scene; due to their combat prowess only one of the looters managed to escape empty handed. And that was only because they let him. It was shortly revealed that he had inherited the special trait of the Kage Clan: To connect to a mysterious plane known as the Void. Excited at the prospect of becoming a ninja, he soon got into martial arts training. As for his education, it was arranged that he finish his grade at his current school, and then be sent to Manta Carlos the following year so he could also further develop his powers. Fast forward to the current day, in which he is a college student.
