Appearance Description :
Ithai stands at five feet and eleven inches tall, with an average build and fair skin. He has matching red-brown eyes and hair and three piercings on each ear. There's no arguing that he's handsome but there's just something that seems sinister about him, even if he's merely out for a carton of milk. Maybe it has to do with the fact that he doesn't seem to have a single casual outfit in his closet, or the fact that the glint of his eyes becomes positively fiery when exposed to the slightest bit of light. It doesn't help that he tends to smell of ancient books (sometimes moldy or partially burnt) and is often seen smiling almost intently at random things or strangers for apparently no reason. Being mistaken for some type of demon is fairly commonplace for him.
In terms of fashion, Ithai's is a distinct fusion of Asian and European, usually with lots of reds, blacks, whites, and a bit of gold. His normal, everyday outfit probably sticks him well into the overdressed category but there's a perfectly normal reason for why he does it -it makes him happy and he's ridiculously proud of his impossible, shinsengumi-style cape that he made himself one day when he was bored to tears.

Whether it's a long sought-after book, a cup of coffee, or directions to that cafe down the street, Ithai seems to always know what people are looking for, even if the most contact that he's ever had with the person is merely a shared glance. There are times when somebody might find Ithai subtly or not-so subtly shadowing them down a dark alley - not because he intends anything, mind, but because it's helping. Somehow. On a certain level. The entire thing is complicated and has to do with magic that Ithai takes so much for granted that he's never really gotten around to explaining it to anybody. His naturally quiet nature hinders him in that regard but on the other hand, he tends to prefer it that way. He tends to speak infrequently and when he does, it is quietly and briefly. If pressed for an explanation, though, he will often start to rattle off literally everything in his chain of thought.
As a man of humble goals, all Ithai really wants is a peaceful life and it doesn't really matter to him if that means he'll grow old alone in a house full of cats or bowls of goldfish. Socially awkward while also being intrusively helpful, Ithai often comes across as some kind of stalker. Albeit, one who keeps having to consult books on how to properly interact with people. As long he's being helpful and the other person is happy in the end, however, he doesn't particularly mind. Even before people get past the weirdness that is Ithai randomly doing things ultimately for their benefit, there are times when he'll be clearly out of it and distracted. It's best to leave him to his own devices, honestly. Given a little bit of time, he'll snap out of it himself. Sometimes, however, his calm demeanor means that people overlook both his dis-attentiveness as well as his recovery from that.
When he's not being strange, Ithai is relaxed to the point of being boring, even. The time he spends holed up in the bookstore that he lives over passes by sleepily in a routine filled with books, books, warm spots of sunlight, a bit of tailoring, and also books. People who get to know him, however, will find that he actually acts closely along the lines of the whole white knight stereotype and, provided that somebody allows him to, he'll jump at the opportunity to assist them at any time, at any place, by any means. Ithai can be scarily loyal and protective like that.
Powers
Discovered when: As his family was already aware of its supernatural ancestors, it was already known that Ithai would probably inherit some powers. This was not confirmed, however, until he was just over three years old.
Discovered how: At the age of three, Ithai had displayed a clear tendency to simply know what people wanted, bringing various items to his parents without a single word ever being spoken.
How/Why they have it: Many centuries ago, a human escaped into a wishing well in order to avoid an arranged marriage. Instead of drowning, however, the spirit living within the well saved them, having fallen in love with the human who had gazed into the waters every day. The human was never seen again and the well dried up shortly after. It is said that Ithai's paternal family was descended from the two.
Supernatural Ancestry: Wishing Spirit - As diluted as his supernatural blood is, Ithai is not be able to outright grant wishes but he'll do his best to get as close to that ideal as possible. It does take a great deal of his focus to work out how to best accomplish this (as well as to map out which wishes he absolutely does not want to fulfill), which is the reason for why he constantly seems unfocused. As far as powers go, his are definitely on the more trivial side, which is a bit of a relief considering the amount of ways a wish-granting power can be abused.
Desire-Based Empathy
What somebody wants, Ithai already knows. As long as people are within a twenty foot radius of him, Ithai will start to receive mental nudges all pointing to what those people desire. For example, if he were in a library and somebody in the next aisle over wanted a particular book, he would feel a nagging thought that he should go over and get it for them. That is the simplest way that his powers would operate. Once more and more people get involved, the effects are enough to leave him in a daze where he has to sort out which desires belong to which people. He normally deals with this by concentrating on just one or two people at once and while he can shift that concentration between people, it normally means that he more or less completely loses track of what he was doing beforehand.
If the people around Ithai want for nothing or only desire small, trivial things (e.g. him to move over a little so there's more room on a bench, for somebody to give them directions on how to get to the nearest bank), then he'll be able to deal with that much more soundly than if a bunch of people wanted something moderately out of the way. On the bright side, really ridiculous desires such as world domination or becoming the richest person in the world take nearly no effort to ignore. They do amuse him, however.
Familiar Sights
As somebody who is a descendant of spirits, Ithai is also able to perceive and communicate with spirits that may not normally be visible. He is not nearly good enough to be able to identify each type on site but it would be awfully hard for him to not tell that a spirit of pure evil and darkness is literally dripping that all over the place.
Subservient Summoning
As long as it's for another person, Ithai can make objects randomly appear in order to fulfill that person's desires. There are a few requirements that have to be fulfilled in order for this to happen, however. The first is that the object has to consent to being summoned. If it is sentient, then that's easy enough. If it isn't, however, then consent is given or denied based off of if something is considered to be owned by somebody. For example, a rock on the street is not owned but a rock in a museum is. A diamond ring sitting in the sewers for three years has probably been labelled lost for good and therefore also is no longer owned while the diamond ring sitting in a jewelry store display is. The second requirement is that the summoned object has to actually exist. The third is that he cannot summon across water. The fourth is that the object must be able to some way fit in a six foot by six foot box. The last requirement is probably the most awkward - whatever the object is, it's probably going to just fall out of the sky at random so this should really not be done indoors or around large crowds of people. Nor around flocks of birds, airplanes, very densely packed high-rises...
The summoned object does not simply teleport to Ithai's location. It actually jerks into the air from wherever it's resting and flies to him at high speeds. The speed is entirely dependent on how heavy the object being summoned is and varies from "high-speed race car" to "I think I just saw Superman." He has no control over which direction the object comes from. The landing, at least, will be gentle so long as he is focused. To be totally safe, however, there should be safety nets and waivers of some sort. Should.
Since every wishing spirit must take some sort of payment in return for their services, Ithai has chosen books as his mode of compensation. If he doesn't give something back in return, he is actually obligated to use his powers to repay it. Luckily, all it takes for him to get out of being indebted to somebody is just a stack of bills. Most people don't know any better to not accept.

History
Father : Michael Kwong (Deceased 49) Archaeologist
Mother : Penny Koizumi (Deceased 47) Chemistry Professor
Childhood: Ithai was born Iliya Thei Kwong to a very wealthy multi-ethnic family living on Manta Carlos Island. His parents were a quiet couple living in a plain but spacious apartment in Manta Carlos's residential district. Surrounded by ancient artifacts and texts from various cultures, Ithai quickly grew into a bookworm like his parents. The three became very close in their voluntary isolation from the outside world and this withdrawal only increased as his powers became more and more obvious.
Rather than sending him off to Starlight Academy, his parents chose to home school him instead. This, they rationalized, would be a better way of teaching their son how to avoid being taken advantage of by strangers. From that point on, Ithai was almost never out of his parents' sight and his father even retired early to become a stay at home dad. Though Ithai was always given the option to go outside and interact with other children under his parents' watchful eye, he often chose not to. Books were far more interesting than children his age, not to mention silent.
Their peaceful lives came to an end, however, when Ithai was seven years old. At that time, a student living in the same apartment complex had somehow managed to worm her way out of powers classes by pretending that her quite substantial psychic abilities were fully reigned in. Eventually, however, the stress of keeping up with the act and her continued failure in truly controlling her abilities took its toll. The result was a very sudden, very hot fire that took out part of the building. Though the blaze was quickly contained and extinguished, those who were living in the adjacent rooms were, with a few exceptions, killed. Ithai survived because his father, sensing the coming blast, had a second to push him out the window.
Afterwards, Ithai was sent to the Academy because of the easy guardianship programs there. His guardian there was Vanora Lawful, an old witch who was, of all things, essentially a fire mage. She was a gruff woman and forced him to interact with others, too, but she also never denied him books and knowledge. As unnerved by her as he was, Ithai managed to establish some sort of a parental relationship with her.
Teenage Years : Being on his very best behavior for the next few years cumulated in Ithai being able to leave the Academy a little earlier than anybody had planned for. At the age of fourteen, he moved out of the student dorms and rented a small apartment to start building up a life for himself. With his parents' old contacts, he was able to scrap up enough materials and teachers to pass through a normal high school curriculum. At the same time, his days were consumed with working out his finances and figuring out what exactly he was going to do for a living. He had a vague idea of something having to do with history or archaeology but accounting, he found, was something that came naturally to him. Anything with numbers came naturally to him, actually.
As he continued his studies, he almost absently began to collect various antique books that he managed to find around the island. Since many of them were in poor condition, he managed to get them for cheap and learned how to fix them up himself. It was inevitable with his constant appearances that the owner of the bookstore that he constantly frequented would find out about his hobby. In no time at all, he had a job at that very place. Now, between studying, working, and managing his parents' accounts, Ithai's free time dwindled to nothing. He was happy that way.
At eighteen years-old and finally a legal adult, Ithai turned away from the prospect of college and bought the bookstore, sending its old owner to a well-paid, semi-retirement. Though the elderly man was written off of the deed, he had insisted that Ithai allow him to still work the shop from time to time.
Adult Years : Ithai's arrangement with the old man persisted for several years. When the old man's first grandchild was born, however, the gentleman decided to back out of the business for good in order to join his daughter's family in Greece. With the old man's blessing to do as he liked to the store, Ithai parted ways with him on good terms.
