Birthday : July 7th
Gender : Male
Species : Human Ghost
Nationality : Japanese
Birth Place / Hometown : Tokyo, Japan

Appearance Description : Ishikawa stands at five feet and nine inches tall with a slender build that tends to make him look delicate. Which he is. Ishikawa is noticeably weaker than most humans which is not helped by the fact that he has iron deficiency anemia and tends to skip meals by losing track of the time. He is pale skinned, with iris colored eyes and long cornflower blue hair. (He really like flowers but it's probably best not to say anything about that.)

Ishikawa is quiet but not necessarily soft spoken. In fact, he can be quite callous at times and, despite his profession, becomes easily frustrated. When it comes to tasks and personal goals, he becomes deeply focused and determined to see things through no matter what. If a problem arises, he will do everything possible to rectify it. If an obstacle comes up, he will do everything possible to tear it down. He is brave but not usually reckless unless pressured into it. It's worth noting, too, that he is reluctant to rely on others and has a bit of an inferiority complex due to constantly comparing himself to his siblings. To be perfectly honest, he really is the weak link in his family and he knows it. Therefore, he has a constant need to prove himself and is known to take things overly seriously but is also usually levelheaded and rational. Kindness is something that he shows without expecting nor wanting to be thanked for and truthfully, people being nice to him just makes him worry.

After getting to Manta Carlos, large parts of his memory have gone blank, a fact that Ishikawa finds highly disturbing. Compared to how he was before, he's having much more issues with memorization and bouts of absentmindedness.

Powers

Discovered how: tba

How/Why they have it: The Ishikawa are a powerful family of kannushi and miko (Shinto priests and priestesses) who can trace their lineage back to an old sage from the Heian period who supposedly made pacts with multiple major kami. Each generation of the family inherits the same set of powers, though individual members of any generation may prove to be more or less talented than others.

Base Power : Grand Convergence - The current generation of the main family consists of a set of three siblings whose powers have been warped from the standard, possibly because they are triplets. Ishikawa Chinatsu is the eldest and is specialized for leadership. Ishikawa Yuuto is the middle child and is specialized for defending. Ishikawa Kouta is the youngest and is specialized for healing.

The powers of the Ishikawa family depend upon three factors. Soul, willpower, and knowledge. Willpower and knowledge are the simplest components. Willpower determines how much power is being drawn out. Knowledge is simply knowing how to use that power. The soul of the individual member functions as the medium that their power runs through, kind of like how electricity runs through power cords. It is important to note that souls are basically squishy insulators that keep people's actual life force and spirit suspended and protected inside of it. The soul helps to guide power but it also makes it so that nobody hurts themselves trying to use that power. Souls can actually wear down from extended use, however, so the importance of caring for one's health is very stressed upon.

When a soul breaks down too much or is taken away, that results in death. Not because the person now lacks a soul, though. They die because suddenly, there's nothing to keep their own powers from burning out their life. It is technically possible to keep somebody alive even after their soul has broken down but that is usually done before the act of deliberately taking away a soul. Demons are very good at this. Everybody else, not so much. It is also technically possible to reanimate somebody if even a bit of their life force survives the absence of a functional soul. This is rare and happens mostly when somebody knowingly or unknowingly splits their life force beforehand. It's a messy process that normally ends in death if a mistake is made so as a general rule, nobody does it on purpose.

It is possible to break off parts of the soul and use them as nonelemental spells. Normally, they cannot be molded, simply lobed as they are and striking objects with invisible force. This is the most common way that the Ishikawa use their powers as it is nearly impossible to remove the bits of soul protecting life force and spirit this way. Of course, any part of the soul that is used in this way has to regenerate. This is also not an effective form of combat, although it is somewhat effective in short bursts.

Impartial Karma
Occasionally, some being will attempt to sabotage the balance of luck in the world. The Ishikawa can essentially set the balance back to normal by brushing the force changing it away. This is actually easier for larger sabotages than smaller ones because reality is quicker to identify the larger sabotages as abnormal while the smaller ones take more time to discover. The presence of these sabotages appear as aurae of varying intensities. Visibility of these aurae are not affected by sources of light and appear the same whether they are viewed in a dark area or a bright area.

Sacred Mark
In the power of every Ishikawa is the combined essence of the original kami who had made pacts with their earliest recorded ancestor. Though it is diluted to the point where nobody could possibly think that all of those kami are currently actively involved, it is usually enough to scare away weaker supernatural beings, even when the person is not using their power at all. This also means that the powers of the Ishikawa are, for all intents and purposes, holy or divine in nature even when unconnected to any sort of religious ritual.

Soulfire
Soulfire is a multiple purpose spell that is often manipulated to fit into traditional Shinto rituals meant for exorcism and purification, although it can also be used on its own for smaller scale, immediate issues. It is named for the fact that the intensity of this spell is high enough to burn through souls, including that of the user. This is the main reason why it is usually fitted to rituals, which help to stabilize the power and insulate it so that it burns only what it is intended to burn. It is incredibly difficult to use this spell without being focused or properly awake because it takes a great deal of willpower to get it going. After ignition, it is also dangerous to focus off of the soulfire because that really can result unintentional suicide. There is no such thing as "a little" amount of soulfire. People either use it because they really need to or they don't. Most of the time, they don't. And if they use it, they tend to not use it alone or at least not use it as it is. It is still very effective in scaring away malevolent spirits, however.

Soulfire usually manifests as golden in color but it is known to turn bright scarlet when it is becoming dangerously close to burning through to life force. It cannot be used on physical objects, only intangible forces. For example, if somebody were foolish enough to use it to burn away elemental fire, that could work. If somebody wanted to use it to burn away bullets, however, they would probably die of gunshot wounds a few seconds later. It is also possible for soulfire to leave "scars" on people's soul. This is extremely traumatizing and normally causes the individual to feel soul pains. Occasionally, it may lead to narcolepsy or difficulty controlling powers. Again, this also includes the person using it.

Like souls, it is also possible to burn people's life force and then spirit with soulfire. That is probably the worst thing that could ever happen because there is strong evidence that burning a spirit with soulfire results in total nonexistence. Fortunately, an overwhelming majority of beings would not survive the soulfire burning down to their life force anyways. The spirit is absolute last element that can be burned and it normally leaves the body just before the life force burns out. This is a natural protections that most people don't know they have, due to the rarity of soulfire and due to the fact that most people don't do anything with their souls anyways.

In any case, it is forbidden to use soulfire on humans for purposes besides purification and exorcism. Meaning that nobody is allowed to use soulfire on humans without also going through the rituals that make it relatively safe to handle. In addition, in the event that somebody tries to burn out the spirit of any being, the Ishikawa family takes great care to make sure they disappear entirely. It would be a bit of an understatement to say that the mishandling of soulfire is taken seriously.

True Sight
Members of the Ishikawa family are able to clearly see and hear all spirits, regardless of what category they fall under. This includes spirits of the deceased. Though sensations produced by this ability can be watered down to mere blurs through lack of focus, it can never truly be deactivated. The Ishikawa also know not to look any spirits in the eye, because that increases the likelihood of possession, an innate ability of any spirit, even ghosts who did not originally have that power in life.

Personal Power : Sanctifier - Ishikawa Yuuto has the unique ability to infuse his powers into objects or manifest them into physical objects for later use. This basically makes it so that his powers are active in a certain area without him being there.

The former is accomplished by taking out small chunks of his soul and putting them inside of the object to function as guides, although this actually wears down his soul slower than it would if he were to immediately use his power. He normally uses ofuda or omamori (paper talismans and amulet bags) for this, simply because he likes to make them. This process is typically lengthy and once completed, the power will only stay for so long before running out. Enclosed objects such as an orb or a box will generally retain the power for longer because it will be stuck in a repeating loop with nowhere to bleed to. In comparison, the power infused in an ofuda will run out quickly because it is two dimensional and there are many directions for the power to bleed out of. A regular ofuda that Ishikawa infuses in this way is only good for a week because it is bled dry. And even then, it will probably only be effective for the first three days.

As for manifesting power, that is done by taking bits of soul and wrapping them around the power. This causes them to become physical marbles but it also prevents those pieces of soul from regenerating until the marbles are used up. Note that it is a really bad idea to manifest soulfire because it's soulfire and nobody should mess with soulfire. Also because it would burn right through the encasing, which makes it completely pointless.

History

Father : Ishikawa Ichirou : 石川一郎 : いしかわいちろう
Mother : Yoshida Kaede : 吉田楓 : よしだかえで
Siblings : Ishikawa Chinatsu : 石川千夏 : いしかわちなつ (28) Miko / Painter, Ishikawa Kouta : 石川康太 : いしかわこうた (28) Kannushi / Family Doctor

Childhood: Ishikawa Yuuto was born as the middle child of his family and second in a set of triplets. His father was born to a line of kannushi not in the mainstream and thus passed on his position to his children. His mother was a member of the Hanare Kirishitans, a sect incorporates traditional Roman Catholic beliefs with Shinto, Buddhism, and a variety of other local practices. Because of this, their household was a vibrant environment for fusing ideas.

His older sister, Chinatsu, despite being a selective mute, was the star of the family and noted for being very strong in personality and power from an early age. He and his brother thus often lived in her shadow and looked to her for guidance.

Teenage Years : When the three were still in high school, however, they were involved in a car accident that left Chinatsu crippled and Kouta deaf. Yuuto walked away with a broken arm by virtue of having been behind his siblings when the car ran a red light as they were at the crosswalk. It would be another decade before Chinatsu would be able to walk again, with the help of braces and implants.

Adult Years : The three attended university for the purposes of becoming priests but drifted apart from each other as individual interests took over. Though they maintained contact, they largely led separated lives despite living in the same house. One day, Yuuto simply moved out without telling anybody beforehand. The next thing anybody knew, he was on Manta Carlos Island for reasons unknown.

And then he died.

Now Ishikawa himself has no recollection of what he was doing during that time.

Additional Information : In terms of personality, Chinatsu is the wisest, Yuuto is the bravest, and Kouta is the kindest. Chinatsu's personal power is Unifier, Yuuto's is Sanctifier, and Kouta's is Purifier.

Yoshida Kaede is the older sister of Yoshida Izumi, who is the mother of Pham Thi Anh Sang. The father of Ishikawa Ichirou, Ishikawa Hideaki, is also the brother of Ishikawa Akemi, the maternal grandmother of Yang Ji Hye.

Ishikawa's first thread on the site will involve him dying horribly and then coming back as a ghost. As a ghost, he will still be just as vulnerable as an average human being, partially due to shock and partially due to the fact that a part of him is in deep denial over it. Ironically, he will also be susceptible to exorcisms despite being an exorcist himself.
