“It doesn't really matter if you are left behind the back, but what matters is your capacity to pull and push everyone by your way to get to the front.” ― Michael Bassey Johnson

Illia takes after her mother in appearance more than she does her father. Illia tans rather than burns, a few days inside out of the sun and she becomes very pale, but spending a few hours a day outside, her skin takes on a rosy complexion. She is blond, with a light shade of pink always covering her upper cheeks and nose. Her hair is very fair and a natural platinum blond that comes off only a tad darker when she's spent a few days out of the sun. She keeps her hair short, just a little above her chin and lets it fall loose.

She looks human, for the most part. All but her eyes, which are a soft pink and very noticeable, especially considering Illy outlines them in a hard, thin layer of kohl to make them more so. While most of the time they're covered by makeup, Illy has a layer of freckles that kiss her high cheekbones and brush the bridge of her nose.

She's learned the perfect techniques for highlighting her delicate features with makeup to make herself the most beautiful she can be. She has a fancy for pinks or dark black and purples, depending on her mood. Her lips fall somewhere in the middle of full and thin, being just full enough to pull off that classic lipstick pouty look. Her nose is small and upturned, further creating the illusion that she is a doll or a teenager.

Illia appears very young for her age, coming off more like a sixteen-year-old than a twenty-two-year-old woman. This misconception is furthered when paired with her short five-foot-one height and mere one hundred pounds. While not always noticeable because of her clothing choices, Illia is a curvy girl with a sharp incline to her waist, a generous shape to her hips and rear, and a full bust.

Illy's style in clothing is to the extreme, no matter which direction she goes. Either she'll be dressed full on latest trends, sexual, or down-right cute. Typically speaking, all of Illia's clothing are fine made, though not all of them appear so. She has a preference for Lovecraft themed articles of clothing and long jackets that come to her knees and give her the appearance of a much younger girl. She is very proficient at playing the role of a child when wearing cute, baggy clothing or binding her chest.

Accessory wise, Illia's ears are pierced all along the rim on both sides and more often than not adorned with small rings or gems. She enjoys chokers and hairbands, along with multiple wristbands at once. She makes it a habit of smelling of light honey and vanilla at all times. Her voice is high and dainty, like a wind chime.

Senka is similar in appearance to Illia, with the same body type, height, and weight. Except, her skin is tinted black with the shadows and her hair is a bright, snow white. Her eyes change from pink to black, and when she casts her magic, they're pure white with no pupil. Shadows gather around her noticeably.

Senka tends to dress on the more gothic side, with black and dark purples. She likes spikes on her accessories and dark makeup when she cares to wear makeup at all. She rarely wears bagging clothing, instead favoring tight, sexy fabrics. Her voice is nearly the same as Illia's, though Senka's has a distortion to it that makes her sound like she's on the other end of a walkie-talkie.

For some, Senka may be a hard concept to understand. She is a part of Illia, and neither is entirely whole without the other, instead being two halves to create one entity. In simplest terms, Senka is the personification of living shadow magic within Illia's body. Illy wouldn't be able to tell you why her magic works that way; she's never looked into it or been disturbed by it.

Their thoughts tend to work in sync, with neither having a different opinion on a place, item, or person than the other. They merely expression these views in different ways. They're in harmony and always have been. Neither is directly an opposing force to the other. At their worst, they're like bickering twins.

Only one is ever in control at once, so you'll never hear both of them talking out loud at once, nor will you hear them referencing something the other said.
"To be a star is to own the world and all the people in it. After a taste of stardom, everything else is poverty." ― Hedy Lamarr

Illia isn't shy, but she is reserved. She won't always give her genuine opinions on things as her image is important to her and she appreciates being known among her fans as a kind, loving woman with a charming little smile and one dimple.

Illy thoroughly adores all forms of action and passion. She has always had a natural talent for acting and being in the spotlight, and she is not easily flustered or made ashamed. Most of her time is spent around people, watching them, talking to them, connecting with them. Illia has a real knack for making and keeping connections and gaining people's favor. There is a natural air around her that suggests she belongs where ever she is at; it all starts with a confident walk, eyes raised to meet the world, and smile ever present.

While she's not touched in the head as her father is, that's to say she feels most emotions rather well (if not somewhat shallow or mutedly), she isn't nervous of put-off by violence, having lived her entire childhood in the shadow of the Rosales gang. Even as a young girl she showed an active interest in the workings of criminals and the manic excitement brought about by acts of violence. Illia herself has never hurt anyone, nor has she had the desire to.

Her kindness is not an act, not in the slightest, but she does tend to lay it on thicker when in the public eye. Behind closed doors she's quieter and softer, all small smiles and smart conversation, relaxed. Illy's favorite part of stardom has nothing to do with the glamor or the money, but everything to do with the people and attention. On set or stage, she comes alive. She is whatever she's pretending to be and she reads her lines and plays her role as if she weren't an actress at all, but instead the character.

Senka is not the opposite of her counterpart by any means. She is louder than Illia, and bolder, more prone to freely handing away the opinions and observations Illy notices but would never say. Like Illy, Sen is outgoing and loves interacting with people. She makes the most of the time she has while she's free to run around (which is mostly at night), as she believes Illy is too reserved, and that has a way of stifling the fun of things.

She's an enthusiastic, fun-loving woman, who loves showing off her shadow abilities. Senka, like Illy, loves all forms of action and violence, even while she doesn't partake in it a great deal. She is less kind-hearted than her other side, but even still, Sen takes a genuine interest in the people around her and strives to be around as many groups as she can constantly. It is very rare for her to ignore someone or push them away.

Her affection is aggressive in nature; Senka has the habit of believing everyone should stop what they're doing and pay her attention. When ignored for any short period, she becomes pouty and goes to greater heights at getting people to look her way. It's not that Sen believes herself better than those around her, she's just permanently in the four-year-old mindset of thinking everything should belong to her and whatever she wants she should get. She can't understand why people wouldn't want to pay attention to her.

Even more so, Senka is deeply disturbed when her presence aggravates someone for any reason. She becomes obsessed with why someone may not like how and how she can remedy the situation. And she'll try everything and anything to correct their negative opinion of her.

Like Illia, Senka has a love for action, passion, and film. Unlike Illy, Sen has an affinity for the dramatic. It's always one extreme or the other for her, and she rarely finds an in-between to settle down in. Her entire day could be ruined by one stain, just as it could be made by finding an unusual coin. When things are good, they're great, and when they're bad, Sen could just die.

UMBRAL PHYSIOLOGY (Senka) For the most part, Illia is human. The most magic she seems to possess is her ability to regenerate, but Senka has the power of the shadows. Unfortunately for Illia, she cannot use these abilities. Only when Senka is in control are these abilities activated.

Shadow Constructs: Senka can solidify shadows after molding them into a shape. This works like shaping clay into an object and putting it in the furnace. The objects she creates are solid and inflexible; so she cannot create additional limbs or moving objects. She can create weapons, shields, and mini-statues, etc.

Depending on what Senka is trying to create the entire process can take anywhere from thirty seconds to fifteen minutes. The more complex or large an object is, the longer it takes to design using the shadows. The solidifying process takes only a few seconds. Because she cannot create addition shadows, naturally she has to be in the shadows to build these constructs. The darkness she hardens is not eternal; it breaks in five minutes if she's not continuously holding and charging shadow magic into it.

When touched by light or light magic, her constructions diffuse and generally speaking, things such as shields are dispelled after being hit once or twice, as it takes a lot for Senka to keeping charging magic into her objects when there is continued force put on them.

Shadow-melding: This power can work in one of two ways. Either Senka can remain still and become one with the shadows, or she can jump between shadows.

For the first method, Senka must stay still, moving at all breaks her stealth and makes her visible. Like Caden, she isn't entirely invisible, either, rather she is very easily overlooked. The area she hides in is just a tad darker than the surrounding shadows.

For the second method, Senka can jump between shadows as far as three yards, but there can be no light separating one shadow from the next and she must be looking to the spot she wishes to teleport as well as be touching some form of shadow already.
SPECIES INFO Like her father, Illia's blood is strange. Where his is dark and magical, Illia doesn't seem to have blood, strangely enough. Rather, running through her veins is sheer magical shadow. Because of this, Illia doesn't bleed when wounded and she can't bruise.

When Illia's skin is sliced the wound immediately closes (by five seconds) in a wisp of shadow. A form of healing, yes, however, Illia only has so much shadow in her body, and it doesn't regenerate immediately. Like the average person, when cut open enough Illia will die. The only difference is she dies much slower, due to not bleeding continually.

Limbs that are cut off will dissipate, and shadow will create the lost part. This takes significantly longer (thirty seconds to a minute) and uses up a lot of shadow magic. Illia could only, say, regenerate one arm at any given time before her magic is used up and she dies from the loss of shadow in her system. The parts of her that are healed via shadow magic only repair skin and such, but not the clothing that had been there before.

Unlike her father, Illia requires sleep, food, and everything else humans need. Only when Senka comes out to play does Illia's aura turn more like here dad's: slightly colder than the average person. She cannot tell what people's fears are, nor is she a personification of their fears as her dad is.

For Senka to take over Illia, she must predominately be in shadow and pull them to herself. The process is not a long one, but it does require most of the space available to her to be dark and shaded.

When Senka has taken over, the shadows automatically gravitate toward her. This effect isn't entirely subtle, as it has a way of making candles and fires flicker around her and sometimes, even be snuffed out completely. This isn't powerful enough to block out large areas of light, such as bonfires, streetlamps, or lit up rooms. It's only effective to small sources, such as candles, nightlights, and lamps.
WEAKNESSES Light Blindness (Senka): When presented with more light than a lamp or light higher than dim settings, Senka is completely and utterly blind. This effect is similar to a flash bomb. She tries to stay near the shadows so she can pull them close and avoid this. It hurts like a mother f-er, and it's a hugely vulnerable position to put oneself in. Light is a no-no for little miss shadow. Sunglasses do not stop this effect. Boo.

Light Magic: Being made of shadow means, light-based magic is downright deadly to Senka. It burns away her shadow and shadow-based attacks and forces her to retreat. She really just can't deal with this crap, so please don't bring it around her. Ouchie, it hurts. This isn't even a yin and yang situation; Senka has no chance against magic like this, so she's outtie.

Light Restriction (Senka): For Senka to come out, the area around Illia must be predominantly shadow. This normally means Senka is only free to roam at night or in places like the Forbidden Forest. If Senka is out but bright lights are shined on her, she is immediately reverted to Illia and all her constructions are destroyed. This "bright light" can be something like a streetlight or the overhead light of a room, anything that diminishes most of the shadows in the area. As Illia can't use shadow magic, this renders her completely helpless in a fight.

Addictive Fear: Something Illia learned as a child was how sweet fear tasted. It was sweeter than any candy, smoother than any chocolate, and more potent than any alcohol. This is still true to this day. Illy has never tasted something better and more fulfilling. She doesn't require fear to live, as her father does, but it's a drug to her. When on it, she's high as a kite, as if she were on ecstasy and everything is great and amazing.

For this to work, the fear has to be life or death, genuine dread for something terrible to happen. It can't just be a little anxiety. Oddly enough, Illia can feed off and become high off her fear. This has made her a bit of an adrenaline junkie and led her to put herself in scary situations for her next fix.

Coming down from fear is like coming down from heroin. Lots of sicknesses, fever, and vomiting. Illia hates coming down, so she's always looking for that next hit.

Nocturnal: Illia is most energetic at night. She has tried getting on the proper schedule of sleeping during the night and staying awake during the day, but no matter how rested she is, Illy is always sluggish and out of it throughout the day. She's unfocused and it's all too easy to dose off. At night, no matter how tired she feels, she can't generally sleep. There's no way around it, she's a creature of darkness.

“A celebrity is a person who works hard all his life to be well-known, then wears dark glasses to avoid being recognized.” ― Fred Allen

Born to Cade Mariani and Ruby Wright, Illia was the child of an unwanted teenage pregnancy. Her father was sent off to Manta Carlos before she was even born and she stayed with her mother until she was ten-years-old when her powers began to surface. It was at that point that Ruby sent Illia to live with Caden.

Illia's life with Caden was better than it had been with Ruby. Not because her father showed her more love than her mother had, but because he had more connections. He was in the Rosales gang, and that meant Illia got to see them in action. She loved the violence. The passion. And she loved Klaus, who showered her with attention.

Illia grew knowing she was important and that one day the world would know too. She used her connections to help bring her into stardom, dug her claws into fame, and refused defeat. Illia craved the attention of people. She wanted to be the best in anything she did and whether it was infamy or fame she possessed, she wore the rumors about herself like a fine coat.
“The envied are like bureaucrats; the more impersonal they are, the greater the illusion (for themselves and for others) of their power.” ― John Berger
Being an up-and-coming star, there are plenty of rumors circulating about Illia from who she may be dating to what her next role will be. Having grown up in Manta Carlos and the shadow of the Rosales gang, Illia was infamous before she was famous, but she's always had whispers surrounding her name.
