The soft padded footsteps were followed by a sense of sick, dread, and death. The grass under his foot showed hints of brown and dryness that weren't there before as the very land was having death laid waste to it. The doctor kept his gloved hands in the pockets of his long white coat, his eye raised at the building ahead of him. There was also a sense of disconnect whenever he saw something for the first time, some misfire in memory that brought discord between his spirit and body. It shook him, but it also reeked of intrigue. The feeling was invigorating and he rather enjoyed it, as if he was seeing something he was never meant to see in his natural life and something disagreed with the very act.

<b>"This place, it is new. It is... interesting."</b> The german may be lost on those who don't speak it but the intrigue in his voice was a clear sign that he was delighted. His mouth curled into a grin as he felt out with his spirit, trying to tug at any death nearby, but so far only managing to tear the dead grass from his footsteps into the air like scattered debris, floating around him as his eyes darted back and forth. He pulled his scalpel out from his pocket, and made his way across the courtyard to a nearby figure.
<br><br>
<b>"I suppose,"</b> He began once more, <b>"I will just have to seek out my next subject."</b> His arm stretched out as he approached the figure, speaking english in a very thick accent, "Hallo! Can you tell me vhere I am?" The scalpel gripped tightly in his right hand, the back of the blade resting upon his fingertip, he waved with his free hand, a warm greeting for what would hopefully be a successful test and a corpse to be.

There was a sickly sweet sensation starting starting to seep into her shoes from the ground. It was essentially a non-existent sensation to some but to Gloria, it was like honey in warm milk. Something out there was dying and it was just lovely to be able to fill those newly emptied spaces with her power. What was new and interesting, however, was that there appeared to be a bit of resistance that day. Vestiges of a foreign power were digging into hers so she put a little effort into holding her own back. There was so much dead material around, after all, that would be rude to intrude on somebody else's work.

Tracing the source of this new decay, Gloria found it to be a man and was already turned halfway towards when his greeting came. She sighed a little to herself as the rot at his feet continued. Politeness dictated that she should sweep her power out of his way, in the same manner that a lady would sweep away her skirt so that nobody would trip over the folds. What a shame. But now with her job at the Academy, it was true that her free time was dwindling down as well. She simply was not able to indulge as much as she had when she was younger.

"Sir," the woman said politely with a faint smile. "You in the courtyard of Starlight Academy. If you are new here, I will have to ask that you kindly not disturb the students. Afternoon lessons have just begun so this time is open for the younger students to play outside."

But, oh, it really was so delightful. There was the haze of rot around her and the laughter of young children a bit further in the distance. This was the sort of thing that filled her heart right up with a warm, joyful love. Looking at this man before her, the love she felt expanded , as it always did, to include those strangers she had only just met.

Vaguely, she wondered if there might be some sort of incident. That would be quite a tragedy. Those objects of her love which were as loved by decay as she was often acted so violently fickle.
