Xenia's dark brown hair fluttered around her as a sudden breeze flew in through the open window next to her. She had been sitting in the waiting room for entirely too long, she decided. She had packed away her iPod and 3DS in her suitcase, and it really wasn't worth the effort to dig them out, so she continued to sit in the hard wooden chair in the boring waiting room and tap out a rhythm on the armrest.
She had been here for ages, it felt like. How long did it take to get rejected? She wasn't special, didn't have any notable talents, and no other college on Earth wanted her. She had told her parents again and again that the letter had been delivered to the wrong house, but they had been so excited that any school wanted her that they immediately sent her away.
Running wasn't a special ability. Everyone with legs could run. They'd test her for abilities, wouldn't they? They had to, right? I mean, she assumed everyone else who got invited to the school could like, read minds or teleport or something - like in the movies. Granted, she'd never really MET a 'special' person before, but they probably just kept their powers a secret. Like in the movies.
"Maybe I should stop relating everything to movies, I might offend someone," she mumbled aloud. And time continued to tick by as slowly as ever and she waited for her impending rejection.
