Marric considered her for a moment, would he do it? Well he'd give it the old college try anyway. He was very much a prince in the form of a pauper. She wasn't even aware of his clan's status on the island based on her lack of reaction to the name. Marric could alternate between "bad influence" and charming just like that.

"Sounds like you've got some big shoes to fill huh? High society life is kinda rough like that. The way you talk it sounds like you were supposed to be in some arranged something or other."

Should he tell her that him and his clan would probably fall into her parents standards? She seemed like she wanted to walk away from all of it. Like she could care less about those things in any respect. Her parents were trying to pull themselves up out of the ashes.

"I guess the real question is, what do you want? I mean no point in being with someone for your entire life if you're not into them. Doesn't matter how much cash they've got. What then you chain yourself to em, pop out a kid or two, your parents get all the enjoyment? Meanwhile you're stuck with this loser you don't even like that much."

His draconic nature was showing. He might have accidentally encountered a princess. "You can't just let yourself be guided by what they want. Did you know that the vast majority of princesses kidnapped by dragons went of their own free will? Tired of their stuffy lives with all those expectations and royal nonsense..."

"I was raised to live life on my own terms. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to my parents too, but it sounds like you're nothing but a means to an end for them. You don't really sound okay with this at all. Haven't you ever wanted to just... do your own thing?" he stared up at the sky.

"You're not under their thumb. And honestly you're not going to be satisfied if you keep going by how other people tell you how to live. You're more than some stuffy noble."

"Yours, obviously. You can't sit here and tell me you haven't looked at other people just being happy and carefree. No one's around to judge you here. Go crazy," Marric answered. He considered what he'd just said and made a face.

"Don't do anything illegal though. That would be bad... very bad."

"What do I do? Make music, swim, dote on my little sis, befriend strangers in the park," he flashed her a shark toothed grin at the last one. "How about I give you my contact info and we can hang out. Travel around the city, find stuff you like to do. I'm not a judgmental guy so you can cut loose with me. No need to be so formal all the time, you know?"
