BASIC INFO
Name: Enelen of the StaveNickname: High Mage Enelen
Age:
Birthday: April 21st
Gender: Male
Category: Staff
Class: Professor - A wide variety of magical courses
APPEARANCE
Enelen stands a shade above average at 5'11", which was a great relief to him. He was a late bloomer, short into his early twenties before he finally passed average and settled at his current height. The same could be said of his face, and into his late twenties he was still being carded, perpetually mistaken for a sixteen year old. He has grey eyes and black hair, which is long and straight. He wears it to about his mid-back, and where it's parted tends to change from day to day.
Enelen is exceptionally frail, in large part because of his decision to teleport absolutely everywhere. It was unusual to see him walk any more than a few steps, and now he's trying to make a point of walking a bit more. It's going poorly, to say the least, and a light gust of wind is liable to knock him right over.
His usual outfit is any of a series of dark brown robes, with gold trim around the edges and the occasional design.

PERSONALITY
Growing up, Enelen was little more than a bundle of curiosity. As an adult, responsibility has put some limits on just how far he'll go to indulge his curiosity, but it's still there, lingering right below the surface. As a younger man, Enelen would have questioned someone endlessly about something he didn't know about. As an adult, he'll ask a few pointed questions (as far as socially acceptable), and then go home and vigorously research whatever it was until he's figured it out. He's become a lot more socially aware, and a big part of that is his position. As a High Mage, he has responsibilities, and he wouldn't be high mage if he wasn't able to realize when he needs to stop asking questions.
He's lost that childhood eagerness that carried him for so long, tempered by responsibility. He carries the weight of his world on his shoulders, well aware that those who chose to stay behind are dead. He's haunted by nightmares, lingering things that remind him of all the faces who stayed behind. Even if he knows there was nothing he could have done, the possibility still lingers that there was something he missed.
He's a scholar at heart, always trying to educate himself further. He's also become, like so many others from the world of diamonds, extremely dependent on his magic. Physically he's become extremely frail, and almost everything is done with magic. Why walk to your office when you can teleport? Why grab a glass for yourself when you can summon it? Plenty of mages would call Enelen's use of magic frivolous, but as far as he's concerned, there's no need to save up magic for big things.

POWERS
In his youth, Enelen's powers swung more for the academic, while as an adult, he's refined his particular tastes. He still has skills in both magical undoing (unwinding spells to see how they're made), and educational magic (such as automatic note taking, copying books, and so on), but the largest part of his magic is now what he would describe as transportation magic. To most people, that means teleportation, and he's certainly capable of teleporting anywhere he damn well pleases with almost no limitation beyond distance and the amount of mana he spends, but a big part of his magic is applying his magic in different ways. Summoning an item he knows the location of, for example, is not a separate type of magic - it's simply teleporting things in reverse. He's spent the better part of the last fifteen years refining this ability, and when he says he specializes in teleportation, people tend to underestimate just how useful it can be. He has a massive variety of applications that he's practiced, including delayed teleportation, set teleportation spaces, and setting up a storage room which can be accessed through a bag. One of his favorite applications is that no one except for a powerful spellcaster or antimage can get into his office when he's not in - they'll simply find themselves outside the room even if they do manage to enter.
Enelen wouldn't be able to teleport to a continent from the islands, but could easily teleport around the islands. Going from the school to downtown would be like going for a run for a normal person in terms of exertion, while going farther can be fairly tiring.

BIOGRAPHY
Enelen-the-high-mage has a history very much like Enelen-the-student. Up until the announcement of the decline of the earth's magic, things remained essentially identical. However, High Mage Enelen's world deviates in one significant way: Magic was not found to have been diminishing until fifteen years later, due to a single magical event that did occur in the history of the younger Enelen's world, and did not happen in his own world.
So the older Enelen's life wasn't interrupted by the announcement. Instead, he carried on, improving himself and excelling over time. He went from a promising student to a promising researcher, improving both his own magic, and his school's understanding of magic. He wrote several treatises connecting types of magic previously thought separate, revealing that they could all be considered to be the same type of magic, just interpreted in different ways. While far from the youngest ever, he was eventually granted the title of High Mage of the School of Staves.
He worked both as a high level professor and as a researcher, occasionally travelling overseas as an ambassador from the Staves to the other schools. He travelled the world, and he was eventually called to the conference where all the grand mages were gathered.
The revelation that mana was leaving the world was a significant one, and members of all schools hurried both to verify and then seek a solution. No solution existed, save fleeing, leaving behind the world they knew.
Enelen himself was one of the architects for the departure, a long process that took months to complete. The first began in haste, off to worlds with sources of mana. Going out in bits and pieces. Some chose to go alone, especially the young mages tied to the schools. Those who were not directly in the employ of the schools often went as families or groups, sent off in hopes of finding a better world.
Not all would go. Enelen himself was one of the last to go, and even then, many still remained. They wouldn't leave. They preferred to take their chances on a dying world, a world where no plants would grow, and animals were dying en masse.
He left them behind, knowing they would die, and it still weighs on him.
