I too am a fan of kobolds. If you're talking about the D&D lizard people: I once started, but never finished, writing an extremely dark fantasy novel with a kobold sort-of-protagonist. It was vaguely based on the old D&D concept of strangers meeting in a bar and deciding to kick in a dungeon full of goblins or kobolds or whatever, killing them all and taking their stuff. In the novel this would have been totally acceptable, and even encouraged behavior, in the societies where those dungeon-divers came from, and there'd be a lot of propaganda floating around about how kobolds and such are all evil so it's totally okay to kill them. Really, they would have the capacity to be just as good or evil as anyone else, and the whole thing was going to be an allegory for crimes against humanity.

I lost all my work on it when one of my laptops died and I gave up and moved on. RIP

If you're talking about the little Fae creatures I vaguely remember reading about from pagan Germanic myths, well. Those little dudes are pretty cool too, but I haven't spent quite as much time thinking about them >>;
