Keedri

When the last patient of day had long since gone home, Keedri finally closed down the dentistry, clocking out at approximately eleven in the night. More for the sake of keeping weird scraps of rotting food and other people's saliva off of her, she was wearing a lab coat over her bare skin, with only her dominant tentacles sticking through the sleeves. It was buttoned twice only to keep the clothing from slipping off of her shoulders. If she kept out of the streetlights, people might have mistaken her for a normal human woman with, perhaps, a very oddly flowing skirt or pants.

Keedri being Keedri practically skipped from each bright spot of light on the sidewalk. It was a hard action to perform since her leg tentacles really only allowed for boringly graceful gliding but somehow -Keedri liked to think that she managed it quite nicely, thank you very much!

Home was technically right around the corner but the night was still young. Keedri headed the other way instead, not unlike a predator searching the dark for prey. In this case, anybody of particular interest.

The night was for those attuned to the darkness; Sully was one of those beings. They found it entertaining to glide through the shadows. Being the kind of creature they were, they didn't require sleep, but it was preferable to stay inside during the day. Of course that did get boring, so occasionally they slipped out with perhaps an umbrella or something to compensate for the Sun's terrible rays. Not even the Moon interfered with their play time tonight as they searched for a new toy. There had to be someone outside during the evening; this was Manta Carlos after all. And they could — wow, that was a really pretty lady!

The lady they were focused on was not of humanoid form or dressed in a club ensemble. She was not the conventional beauty that many humans admired. No, she was a mass of tentacles skipping down the sidewalk. The lab coat only partially covered the odd figure; there was no mistaking the odd "legs that glided through the air or the tendrils coming out of the creature's eye sockets. Something about this freaky woman fascinated Sully in a way they didn't quite comprehend yet. They wanted to have at least a chat with the woman before she escaped.

The shadow being skated through the shadows and slowly rose out of a nearby lamp's shadow. Assuming that the tentacle creature had good enough eyesight or perhaps even the night vision the Eldritch possessed, she would be able to spot a strange feminine figure with big black eyes that lacked irises. The skin that was visible (really just the head) was ghastly pale, but the dress-wearing individual was far from unhealthy. Their loafers clicked against the cement as they approached. The fear aura inherent to their form blazed on as usual.

"Wait."

The voice echoed out to the incoming tentacle girl. A small smile spread on their face.

"Can we...talk?"

Despite the aura, they seemed slightly nervous yet friendly. For once they felt intimidated instead of the other way around.

Cylthic grinned slightly as a human bowed to him. "What do you ask of me my.....my lord." Cylthic's grin grew even wider when he heard that. "With me you will never be betrayed, you will be protected from you fear. My-" Cylthic froze when he saw something in the corner of his eyes, a mass of tentacles. The human looked up at him for a moment "My lord?" Cylthic turned back to the knelling human "You may continue on with your daily life for now. I have more important matters to deal with."

Cylthic jogged down the alleyway and tried to catch up with the figure he saw. When he got a better look he froze. It was a girl.....well some sort of tentacle girl. Most would be disgusted with such a creature but for Cylthic....it made his theoretical heart skip a beat. Cylthic tried to speak but when he spoke he actually stuttered. "E-excuse m-me miss, I-" Cylthic then noticed the other figure, a figure he knew all to well. "S.....ully?"

Keedri

A person actually approaching her? All right, so Keedri was instantly curious. It was always nice to be sought out. It meant less work for her whenever she wanted somebody to maybe toy with, maybe actually do interesting things with. Because, for Fred's sake! This was Manta Carlos! It was supposed to be gushingly not boring. She could just about cry, except, wait no. That was physically impossible for her these days, never mind.

Maybe if she could find a little needle or something, she could stab herself a bit in the tear ducts and make it look like she could, though. It couldn't possibly hurt that much, except, yeah, it totally would. More things to (not) consider.

But oh! There were butterflies in her stomach now as she faced that one person in the shadows. Keedri loved those butterflies. They came up whenever she did something really out there (by human standards) like cliff diving, or playing tag with active volcanoes. The butterflies may or may not at some point have been a metaphorical representation of her fear but after a decade or so, Keedri was pretty sure she had bred all the genetic betrayal out of her metaphors. Now they were just lovely and got along with her just fine.

Keedri was instantly taken. Kind of? She wasn't going to run away, at least. "Talk, sure, talk away! If you're trying to get an appointment in, though, that's what we have secretaries for," she said cheerfully, peering into the shadows. Her eye tentacles were extending out a bit more, withering. Feminine figure, definitely. Dark eyes. Very human, and Keedri would have been inclined to leave it at that if she weren't already a bit suspicious at this person's initiative.

Before she could get an answer from that my-ste-ry~, somebody else decided to step in. And it wasn't to randomly arrest one of them, either! Or so Keedri thought, anyways. The stutter kind of implied that. And these two people seemed like they knew each other, too! That one over there was probably female and this one over here was probably male. Domestic spat? Awkward. Blood on the streets! Well, she could hope it was something as eventful as that.

"I'm really hoping that 'Sully' is a name and not implicit instruction for me to suddenly start throwing tar at things I dislike," Keedri remarked. "Although, I'd thank you very much for it if you've got authority on the matter. It would be positively liberating!"

Appointment? Appointment for what? They didn't understand. Dentistry was not exactly in the shadow world. Their eyes scanned Keedri. What was with the white coat? Hm...ah, yes, that was the attire of doctors. So this tentacle beauty was a doctor of some sort. No, they did not require medical attention. They required a friend. An awkward smile flashed on their face as they shyly scratched their head. Well, now that they succeeded, they could communicate. Their mouth opened to utter something--

--Only to be cut off by their brother. Their eyebrows furrowed a bit. They were bothered by the sudden intrusion. When did Cylthic arrive here anyway? Even so, they shrugged off the odd coincidence.

"Sully is my name. We're...siblings."

It took a moment for the shadow being to pull up the right word. Well, might as well make this a three way conversation! It couldn't hurt, right?

"So what's your name? Or do I get to call you Pretty Lady?"

The being giggled. The playfulness helped soothe their nerves, but it could have been taken as flirting. They were mostly toying around though while acknowledging that Keedri was quite the looker. Well, hot by their standards anyway. Eldritch shadow being logic was weird to say the least.

Cylthic shook his head. He didn't enjoy that Sully was here. She normally appeared to people when she had a reason too. And normally that reason wasn't very good. Though he decided to keep his mouth shut. Maybe she was here to just converse? It was unlikely but it was a possibility. "Yes....siblings. I was just surprised I ran into Sully at a time like this." Cylthic was telling half of the truth. He was surprised that Sully was here as well but he knew she was out in Manta Carlos somewhere, 'playing'.

Keedri

If Keedri had eyebrows, she would raised them. Unfortunately, she had sacrificed them to the dark arts a long time ago and though she lamented the fact that now she could no longer wiggle them suggestively, at least she felt sure that they had gone to a good cause. After all, near immortality was a great deal in return for tiny, facial caterpillars.

Still, despite everything, Keedri knew exactly what she was. Namely, a fantastic catch. At the not-so subtle flirting, her mouth broke out into a broad smile, tentacles waving out from between her slightly parted lips. Her hip tentacles flared out a bit.

"My name is Keedrishastrinaanaam agninaa saha virodhah," she said in perfect Sanskirt. Though this was meant for both of them, she gave focus to the first person who had approached her. "People just call me Keedri but you can call me Pretty Lady." The woman considered for a moment before adding playfully, "But only if you can pronounce my full name correctly. And nope, sorry! I'm not saying it again for you if you've forgotten."

It was then that Keedri decided to fully include their third member. "And who would you be, then?" She asked. "There's a Keedri and there's a Sully -I don't suppose you two come as a pair?" Two of her arm tentacles crossed thoughtfully. "I really can't think of a good antonym for 'sully' that doesn't sound like a two year-old spat it up, though." Theme naming was always great fun, though. If Keedri ever had children, she would name one Salt and the next one after could be Tartar or maybe Worcestershire.

Or maybe she should just finally go and buy her groceries. Hm, decisions.

Sully gave a look of confusion as the full name was uttered. Why did she have such a long and convoluted name? What a silly tentacle lady! At least she did have a simpler name. While it did go into the shadow being's brain, they weren't sure how to recite it back. However, they were determined to speak the lady's full name. They treated it like a game of sorts. A challenge if you will.

"Keedrishashiannam agoni saha vinodah....."

Their nose twitched.

"No, that wasn't quite right.....Keedrishashirnam agora saha virodah? No that still seems off...."

They would get it for sure! They refused to give up the challenge. However, their efforts were distracted by the mention of Cylthic. Oh, that's right, Brother was here. As Keedri uttered their names, the being found themselves giving Cylthic a nickname to rhyme with theirs.

"There's a Keedri and there's a Sully--"

"And that's a Cylly!"

A giggle escaped their lips as they clapped their hands excitedly. Their head tilted at the mention of the two coming as a pair. The shadow shook their head.

"No, I came here on my own. I didn't expect my brother to be here. I didn't expect you here either, but I'm glad you're here!"

They took on a cheery tone. They were excited to meet someone new. New people were fun and interesting, especially if they were as pretty as Pretty Lady! Or Keedrishashiraanam aggina saha voridah.....man, she had a really hard name.

Cylthic titled his head for a moment. He was trying to memorize the name, it was an interesting one to say the least. And then he tried to speak it. "Keedrishastrinaanaam agninaa saha virodah? That is a pretty name for a pretty lady." Cylthic's version of everything was insanely messed up. The only reason he was able to pronounce it was because he had spent centuries trying to perfect saying his fathers name. It has spent him officially ten thousand years to perfect just the first part. So speaking a short name like this was easy for him. Cylthic turned to his sister and smiled "Don't worry Sully. You will get it." He then frowned when he heard the new nickname he was given. Cylly........ "My name is Cylthic.....but if you prefer you may call me Cylly....." Cylthic was a mess really. He has only got worse now that he met Keedri.

Keedri

Okay, so damned if she didn't smirk at the fact that one of them got her name right. That was pretty impressive, to be honest. Cheap parlor tricks worked wonders with Keedri. Calling up the forces of darkness and raiding a graveyard on Walpurgis was like. Pfshaw. Didn't everybody do that? It would be a tragedy if they didn't. No kidding, it was the small things where the real love was at. Devil in the details and all. Sometimes literally. She wondered idly if anybody would notice that she had etched tiny pentagrams into some of fillings. Maybe not. Maybe people would munch down her art into something truly incomprehensible and smelly. C'est la vie. Truly, she was a suffering and under-appreciated artist.

"Cylly it is~" Keedri sang in sing-song, the exact tone you would expect from a Disney villain about to monologue in a musical number. "Don't worry, Sully, you'll get it one day! Sanskrit is long and complicated, probably to ensure that if we ever get taken over by aliens, they'll see this ridiculous language and get scared away. Or, you know. So we can summon demons in it and have lots of fun times sounding spooky and ominous!"

"So, what are the two of you doing out?" She asked good-naturedly. "Out hunting poor, unfortunate souls? Don't worry, I'm definitely not telling on you~" The tentacles and flesh over one of her eyes twitched for a long moment. In a human, this would have been recognizable as a dramatic wink.
