Artist Credit: 1
Name: Grimoire of a Thousand Eyes
Age: Beyond mortal conception.
Birthday: Does not have one.
Gender: Agender
Species: Inanimate Object, Eldritch
Category: Citizen
Career: Eldritch Grimoire

Appearance Description: The grimoire’s “cover” is merely a thick layer of eyes upon eyes, all of different colors and sizes. Inside, there are no pages. Instead, it looks like the entrails of a person, with eyes growing out of the “spine” of the book and forming a massive knot of eyes growing out of other eyes. There is no discernible “correct” way to read the book. One merely picks an eye and begins from there. Instead of having a pupil and an iris, each eye instead has tiny spirals of scrawled eldritch text. Some of the text is only readable at certain wavelengths of light. Much of the text is gibberish. Some of it must be licked or smelled in order to be “read” because the text has been converted to pure taste, smell, and the thoughts and emotions related to such. It is based off of no known language in any universe but bears some resemblance to the cadence of typical eldritch dialects.

Personality Description: The grimoire is a greedy creature at heart. Seeking souls for the purpose of forging its own, it will offer power in exchange for any being’s, regardless of morality. It will do anything for a soul, including lie and manipulate. It has little personality beyond its hunger for souls but as it gains more, it also gains some of the characteristics of the souls it has absorbed.

Active Abilities: Mind to Soul: Childishly basic, the grimoire is able to telepathically communicate with other beings by broadcasting brief images and bursts of feeling. It is in turn able to read the thoughts that are sent towards it and respond to them, though never in anything besides picture and sensation.

Power for a Price: For their eternal soul, the grimoire is able to bestow upon any individual a random power. It is not particularly picky with souls and will take any, including those which do not belong to the person attempting to gain the power.

Soul Forge: The grimoire is able to extract souls from anybody who gazes at a particular eye hidden deep in its depths. This eye must be requested to be shown but does not necessarily mean that souls will be extracted or, if they are, that they come from the person who requested it. With the souls it has collected, it is able to create a new soul by taking bits that it wants and molding them together. People who lose their souls normally feel empty and vaguely like something important is missing. They also do not appear to anybody with soul or life detection abilities.

Passive Abilities: Attraction Aura: Something feels strange, like standing in the shadow of a monumental instance. The grimoire invokes a sense of mystery that compels people to pick it up and read it. It is like an itch on the back of the mind, something that doesn’t force people to read but makes them continue thinking about reading it until they either do or leave the vicinity. The range of the aura is about fifty feet.

Immune to the Elements: The grimoire is immune to the elements and will always remain pristine.

Indestructable: The grimoire is indestructable as it is created purely from magic itself, which cannot be destroyed.

Unspeakable Knowledge: This grimoire contains terrible eldritch knowledge. Information and spells of all sorts are found within its pages, assuming one can decipher them. The spells inside are devastating curses and hexes, meant to bring ultimate pain and torment upon their victims. (Un)fortunately, this tongue seems more code than language and as such, any person with omnilingualism would not be able to automatically read it. It could take weeks to decipher a single eyeball and the likelihood of it containing a full spell or bit of information is rare.

Weaknesses: Inhuman Nature: It is a book and therefore incapable of doing anything for itself.

Biography: The grimoire was created from pure eldritch energies. It merely appeared one day in Manta Carlos’s Forbidden Forest and was found by a passing student, who left it in storage and mostly forgot about it until it was eventually sold to an island bookdealer.

Resources: This is a book. It owns nothing but itself.
