Emy's Adventures in Hangzhou

Out of everything, it seems like my away threads just refuse to be neatly organized. I'll probably find a better way to sort them later. Read: in a couple of years.

Anyways, this will be the same deal as last time. Me being in China will mean that my activity hours will be twelve to thirteen hours ahead of the usual. I might not be around in the chat so often either because I need to start upping my grades a tiny bit to prepare for grad school applications. Internet in China is pretty awful but it should be better this semester. Somewhat. Hopefully.

Of course, always feel free to contact me on Skype, if you have it. If you don't, go ahead PM me. I do have a yahoo email to jump the Great Firewall and forward everything to myself.

I will be away from February 13th to June 6th (give or take a few hours on each day).

I will be out of commission for a while. My laptop was working fine and updated before the flight to Beijing but when I turned it on, it black screened on me. This is almost exactly what it did last time I went to China, too, in the fall. I'm kind of angry, actually.

Anyways, I am in Beijjng waiting for my connection to Hangzhou. Please do not send anything to me unless it is urgent because I can't guarantee that I will be able to get to it. ;;

I am pretty taken with orientation until classes start. Also, the dorm is good by Chinese university standards but definitely not even close to being as good as last semester. It's a bit of a dump here and the hot water has to take time to boil. I killed a coachrosch already etc. Can't say I've had worse but I'm actually pretty indifferent to it. I only came to study, after all.

Okay, my laptop is back! It's actually been back for a day already but I've been trying to work out some of the other issues. I have no idea how to switch languages so everything is in Mandarin and some programs just won't open at all. x.x At least the internet browsers and Microsoft Word do.

Anyways, first day of classes! I'll be starting in an hour. Already have homework, too, ouch. I'm in ancient Chinese history (taught in Chinese), everyday speaking, Hangzhou studies (more Chinese), and also am in a one-on-one about Chinese mythology (also taught in Chinese). I feel kind of dumb because I think I tested as ninth out of eleven people. But maybe it was because six of those people were studying here during the winter while I totally slacked off.

I am returning to mod duties this week. Tentatively starting today. I don't think my daily routine will really kick in until tomorrow when I figure out the gym situation and the rest of my classes.

I am currently working on all of my posts and will post them in bulk. I am approximately halfway done and hope to finish them all by the end of the day. They will be short, sorry! I think that from now on, my posts might have to be on the short side (about 130-200 words) in order to keep up with school.
