Name : Elatius Chrysaor

Age : Approximately 26

Birthday : Exact date hard to pinpoint but probably sometime in late autumn

Gender : Male

Nationality : Chrysaora fuscescens (Pacific Sea Nettle or Western Sea Nettle)

Category : Teacher / Staff / NPC

Appearance Description : Elatius stands at six and a half feet tall with a delicate looking and willowy build. In place of hair, he has the bell of a Pacific Sea Nettle fully covering up his face. If he even has one. The bell is slightly translucent and golden in color, which is most striking when near sources of light. Through the bell, something that may or may not be a humanoid head can be seen. There are eight trios of long, slender, dark brown tentacles around the rim of the bell. In addition, there are four thicker tentacles coming out of the inside of the bell. These are thicker than the trios and are covered with what appears to be a chain of white flowers from a distance, colored with a light pink tint. The tentacles from the trios are fifteen feet long and the thicker tentacles are nine feet long. In order to move more easily, Elatius will tie up the ends of his tentacles so they hover next to his ankles, rather than dragging on the ground.

Past the more inhuman features, Elatius's body appears to be that of a normal human being, albeit one that which is unnaturally pale. He wears robes that do not appear to be of any specific culture, although they seem to be a vague mixture of several South East Asian countries. Elatius is also blind but able to distinguish between different intensities of light in order to guide himself.

Personality Description : Elatius is a strange character mostly because his very existence is a complete joke. He's mild mannered and has a voice that sounds just like your average everyday man chuckling, "Well, okay, Bob." That's how his voice always sounds, even when he's extremely angry at something. Personality wise, Elatius is very particular about how things are, probably because doing something wrong could be hazardous to him. He can be hard to get along with because he will find flaws in many things and is very paranoid. He is hard to impress and can be greedy when faced with things that are unique, often hoarding them away so nobody else can have them.

Inhuman Nature : Sea Nettle Merfolk - Elatius is, to put it really simply, a jellyfish mermaid. Because of this, he is able to breathe underwater in addition to being able to breathe for short periods of time on land. However, if he wants to truly survive on land for extended periods of time, he must remain closely to water. In addition, no matter how long he is on land for, he must remain hydrated at all times. Higher temperatures will cause his body to dry up, which will knock him out. Given enough time, this will kill him. Normally, he goes around with a very large spray bottle to periodically moisten his bell. If the day is especially warm, he will take a portable tank of water on wheels and use it the same way that some people use oxygen tanks. It's not really clear where the tubes from this would go to. Normally, it would go to people's noses but on Elatius, it just. Disappears under the bell.

Being one of the merfolk, he is also able to communicate with aquatic animals. However, this is sometimes dangerous for him because that sometimes alerts predators that there is a really stupid, tasty, blind jellyfish that's broadcasting where it is. His tentacles are also full of toxins and will sting anything that touches them if they do not have thick enough skin. Elatius's stings are stronger than those of a regular Sea Nettle but for the most part, he cannot actually kill humans with them, only inflict a high but not agonizing amount of pain. For the most part, Elatius cannot control his outer tentacles. He can, however, squeeze his bell in order to make them move. He can also control his four inner tentacles at will, although the that they are normally tied up makes it so that he can't really do anything with them.

Secondary Power : Nightdrifter - In the region where Elatius lives, calling somebody a nightdrifter is a polite way of saying that they're a vampire. In order to survive, Elatius must periodically devour blood and is not particularly choosy about what kind it is. Normally, in order to do this, he first stings his prey and then engulfs part of their body with his bell in order to feed on them. Blood from landwalkers is strange to him and can be viewed in the same way that a person from an isolated fishing community might view bacon. In other words, he loves it. The problem, of course, is that the landwalkers who look the most delicious are much stronger than he is so he settles for hunting small animals like squirrels.

At night, because of his vampirism, Elatius is able to move on land without need to worry about that pesky issue of hydration. In the water at night, he is able to swim significantly faster and able to actually see shapes and bright colors albeit somewhat vaguely. His sting is also more potent at this time and is capable of temporarily paralyzing his targets.

Though he is able to turn others into vampires by releasing a special kind of venom, it is important to note that his strain is optimized for his specific kind of merfolk. Which means most of the benefits will be lost. For instance, most humans already don't have issues with hydration or blindness and also don't produce toxins. Granted, the vampirism might slightly increase their sight and make them swim faster but. Really. It's kind of lame and all it does is make them drink blood. Maybe some people are into that. It's clear when Elatius has been drinking blood because his skin goes from pale to flushed and his bell looks especially bright.

Because of his vampirism, Elatius has a weakness against amber.

Birth Place / Hometown : Pacific Ocean

Occupation : Marine Biology / Marine Anthropology Teacher

Father : Konojoi Sanderia

Mother : Regale Chrysaor

Siblings : Countless

Biography : Elatius was born to a Chrysaora fuscescens mermaid and a Sanderia malayensis merman. In his culture, the child takes the name of the mother since the father could literally be one of hundreds of people. Elatius did not know his father well and did not care to know his father well since the maternal line is perceived to be the more powerful and dominant side of any family. As a male, he was not considered to be as valuable and so was given much more freedom to do as he pleased.

Eventually, he became bored of doing nothing in particular. As Elatius had long since passed the age of maturity, he thought that it might be time to have some larvae of his own. He chatted up a decent female who he thought might be up for it and they soon became engrossed in a long and deep conversation in which he confessed that he was becoming bored with aquatic life and wanted to see what was happening up on that island a few miles off.

At that point, the female revealed herself to be a nightdrifter, which actually isn't that big of a taboo. It's viewed more of a really strange quirk. In return for having some larvae, she offered to turn him into one as well so that he could fare better out of the water. Elatius jumped at the opportunity to be something different and after he had recovered from the change, he promptly went to Manta Carlos.
