Appearance Description : Ekaterina has a very washed out look. She always has the appearance of being tired, even when she isn't, with dark rings under her eyes and pasty looking skin. She is five feet seven inches tall. Her eyes are brown and she has auburn colored hair cropped somewhat messily to the level of her mouth.
Ekaterina usually dresses in multiple layers. The bottom most one consists of a long sleeved, high collared black shirt and long, slim pants. Both are made of very thin material. The layer on top of that is a white blouse and grey skirt that goes to her kneecaps. Over that is a grey jacket and then a faded blue-grey smock that completely hides the rest of her clothes. She constantly wears dark grey gloves, even when she's alone or sleeping. She also has a habit of wearing a white headscarf if she knows that she is going to be in a crowded location.
Personality Description : Ekaterina is a very responsible person despite her messy appearance and can be counted on to finish tasks on time. Once she concentrates on something, she is perfectly focused and will often forget the time. She is not a very social person and has difficultly displaying emotion even though she is quite capable of feeling it. Her face seems to be constantly stuck in a blank, drowsy stare. When socializing, she is blunt and undiplomatic, usually the person to tell things as they are without any sugar coating. However, besides this tendency, she genuinely means well. Most of her kindness are done passingly as she feels incredibly awkward with trying to express concern for other people.
Power : Hand of Contagion - Ekaterina is a container for many types of diseases, from various strains of the common cold to killers like ebola. Sick people who come in direct contact with her skin will have their illnesses cured if Ekaterina has already contracted the same illness from a different source. However, healthy people who do this will immediately become ill with a random disease in her body. Ekaterina's powers were active at birth so even as illnesses swept through their area, Dmitri noticed that she was always seemingly healthy even as her appearance began more and more sickly. Though this unsettled him, Dmitri still continued to care for his daughter the best he could, resolving to deal with the consequences of her peculiarity later. However, he never got the chance to. When Ekaterina was ten, Dmitri became ill with ebola, which she had never even heard of in her short life, and died.
Ekaterina was then passed from relative to relative, each time spreading diseases to their households. Since Dmitri had kept her powers a secret, even refraining from confronting her about them, nobody knew what was happening. People concluded that she was unlucky or cursed and dumped her at an orphanage where she was isolated for a few years. She got out finally when a nearby church realized that she could heal some of those who had incurable illnesses. Fortunately, some members of that church also had powers of some sort, usually small, but enough for them to be understanding of her situation.
Horrified at the idea that she could have perhaps saved her father but didn't, Ekaterina decided to become a doctor. The church supported her and continues to even now from a distance. It was in this way that she managed to make it to Manta Carlos after graduate school, through the recommendation of its members.
