Dragons and princesses

She screamed - in delight. "THAT'S SO COOL!" Anh Sang waved her arms around excitedly at the nearly-as-tall-as-her-dragon. "What's a shadow dragon? Can you do things with shadows, then?" She had a stream of questions just pouring out as she thought of them. "Does light bother you? How can you talk? Are you super strong?"

"Wow, that's really cool," Anh Sang breathed, stars practically in her eyes. "I heard about the tournament but I didn't get an invitation," she said with a pout. It just wasn't fair! Even some of her distant cousins were involved with it! Granted, they weren't actually in the tournament, just helping to run it.

"I thought I was just too young but I'm not!" Not if he were in it, anyways. "I'm fourteen and plenty old for things! Adult things! Adult things that are cool and fun!" Her mouth twisted into a cute frown for a moment.

"So whatcha get?" she asked. "What was it like?"

She wrinkled her nose. "Hurt people?" Anh Sang asked. "Why would you need to know that? You don't fight bad guys a lot, do you?" Although, it would be super cool if he did. Anh Sang just didn't think there were many bad people on the island. The police were pretty good like that.

"Still, that's so cool?! All I have are these dumb butterflies." She now had significantly more than before, at least, since several had broken apart and reformed.

"Wow, that's terrible!" Maybe it was because she was from a pretty magical family herself but Anh Sang just hated people who hunted magical creatures for no good reason besides because they could. "Where are you from? I don't remember hearing anything like that! You're not in Asia, are you?" If he had been, she probably would have remembered news like that.

She crouched in the grass by Orsick's side. "Yeah, well. I'm doing my best but I don't really know what to do." She stared contemplatively at her butterflies for a moment before reaching out and squishing some into a beach ball-sized sphere. "I need to find something more interesting to make them into."

"Ooooh, I've never met somebody from another dimension before," she said. "Is the sky still blue? Is up still up and down still down? Is there a sun and a moon? Or is it just kind of boring like this world here?" She added the last option as a slightly disappointed thought. There were so many wonderful places she had locked in her mind and Anh Sang wondered if any of those existed at all. It would be nice.

"Oh, I change their shape all the time." To demonstrate, Anh Sang took her sphere of light and twisted it into a pretzel shape. Well, the best that she could remember, anyways. Pretzels weren't exactly a thing in Asia and she had only ever eaten like one in her life. But people kept talking about how things were tied up like pretzels so she felt the need to fall into line and try her best with that. "I just. I want to make really complicated stuff but what if it's no good and it's stupid looking?"
