Crowther Afterlife Resource Institute

CARI is owned and founded by Valentine Crowther, a native Manta Carlos Islander, scholar, necromancer, politician, and Death horseman from the well known and respected Crowther family. It officially opened up January 19th, 2017. It has government sponsorship, and research funded by businesses like pharmaceutical companies.

Main Building
The CARI main building is located in the City Life forum, not far from Downtown Manta Carlos, but not deep into it in order to have some extra space-- and avoid being overly crowded. For those who are secretive about their death-related status, this is a blessing. It's nicknamed Hereafter, which can be seen on the sign over the front doors, right under the bold Crowther Afterlife Resource Institute title.
Exterior
CARI is modern in style, artistic and not too bad to look at, and decently large with a handful of floors and basement levels. The property it's on is bigger than the building itself, and they expand when they have to, not before, no intentions to be wasteful and greedy. CARI values being productive. They have a parking garage, which can be accessed from the outside exterior.
Interior
The interior is even more modern, sleek, and clean, themed in black and white colors. The main lounge and guest space is unofficially run by the Social Department. They offer tours and have a help desk, along with a cafeteria. Reaping is the most active, with reapers rushing in and out, chattering rapidly, or trying to drink their coffee in a far too overexcited manner-- and generally, they might get snippy if interrupted by an outsider, and have can have people working at all times of the day. Research is calmest and slowest, when a researcher isn't rambling away, and mostly features people reading and studying quietly. Undeath is interesting, half resembling a hospital, half resembling a witch's den. There are event rooms and office space that's free game.
Mr. Crowther's Office
Valentine has a lovely office on the top floor-- always the top floor, even if they add more-- where he meets with people. If he brings you to the lounge area, you're safe. If he has you sit in front of him at his desk, you're likely in trouble. He has a nice, cozy little library of his own here, too, as that's something he can't seem to help bringing with him wherever he settles down. A few paintings are up here and there, Val's proudly displayed gifts from his husband, and one or two of his own pieces. Other gifts make guest appearances here in his office, if given, as in his mansion living space they'd be hidden away. Val often has a few bottles of wine and a bountiful amount of chocolate at hand.

Departments
CARI is a large, ambitious group that covers all areas of death that it can, and requires a collection of differing departments to handle the number of situations and focuses they're presented with. While the institute has one overall leader, the branches have their own heads that tend to be their experts. If a branch doesn't have a head, Mr. Crowther will oversee it unofficially.
- Valentine Crowther (Main Boss)
Research
Death is an endlessly diverse subject which has terrified, mystified, and fascinated us since the dawn of time. There are many different areas and questions relating to death, and the Research Department here at CARI dedicates itself to uncovering and expanding upon our knowledge of it.
A library and small museum is kept here, open to the public for casual viewing, then the institute's researchers and local students for more in depth usage. You're also welcome to contact the researchers with questions for them to answer, or projects for them to take on. The other branches work most regularly with this one, and it's considered the top of the hierarchy. They often publish research and do work for other companies.
- Valentine Crowther (Head of Department)
- Professor Greene (Researcher)
- Amara Aralli (Intern)
Reaping
The most truly business oriented branch. Although it starts for the majority of reapers as being volunteer work, it can be related to most jobs, and ran that way-- with serious problem solving, teamwork, paperwork, and long hours for optimum efficiency and smoothness in it. This is a definite pride of the institute's. Reaping, with CARI, is a mix of stubbornness, wit, and social work. Fondness for both challenges and doing good towards others contributes to your success.
A nice employee benefits package is offered to those who sign up with CARI to give their services formally, to take things seriously, and to communicate and cooperate properly with other reapers. Like with all CARI department employees, the reapers employed here are paid, instead of having it treated as destiny based alone deal that should be taken and given dedication without a complaint. This tends to motivate reapers towards higher quality work. While full time is best, you can take freelance and part-time positions here, as long as you conform to CARI's standards.
- Regis Hayes (Reaper)
- Eroshay Rosales (Intern)
Undeath
A branch relating to necromancy and the undead. This is an odd subgroup, as it's technically two that always mix together. As such, it's best with two branch heads, one for necromancy, and another who happens to be personally undead, that collaborate heavily with each other.
A huge focus for the Undeath branch is protection and assistance for any undead individuals, hooking them up with food, therapy, and other guidance for quality of life. They also partner them with licensed, experienced necromancers that can act as their doctors, performing health checkups and fixing them up when necessary. Ghosts and some vampires, along with ghouls and anything else in the dead or brought back to life category, even by a bit, will be included with this, not only the basic undead sorts.
The necromancy half of it includes some specialized groups of peers to practice and discuss necromancy with, efforts around helping make necromancy laws easy to understand and accessible to work with, and training on how to be a more practical necromancy and employment opportunities/making good impressions/showing respect to the undead as people and not just toys or tools.
- Valentine Crowther (Head of Necromancy)
- Quentin Hansen (Undead)
Social
The branch in charge of organizing events for fundraising, education, recruiting, and enjoyment, anything relating to reaching out to the community.
Standards here are high and you're expected not to embarass CARI's name or cause any harm to other people. Those in the Social Department need to be as welcoming, tolerant, and patient as possible in a world that's overwhelmingly the opposite. An awareness of what's appropriate and inappropriate, sensitivity to the comfort of others and adaptability in yourself, or at least a stunning ability for fake smiles and patting is vital to work here.
- Valentine Crowther (Representative, Host, Educator)
Etc
Donators & Outside Connections
Outside donations, enthusiasm, and contacts are something CARI is overwhelmingly grateful for. Every little bit counts, and participation from those not death oriented is just as encouraged as participation from those naturally inclined.
Although they wouldn't have as much sway and power in the main group, assisting the institute with growing and staying around gives you a great deal of appreciation and other perks. Gift baskets, raffles, and access to VIP parties included-- the rewards getting fancier the more you donate.
- Florentin Blanchett (Donator, Researcher, Necromancer)
- Clement Vermillion (Donator, Vampire)
- Aisling Beirne (Donator)
